The MC's suicidal actions at the end really got to me, I just feel this novel was quite realistic. The MC and the ML both... more>> acted like adults. And while the ML was a s*umbag, I also feel like he was portrayed nicely as someone who grew up with an extremely rough childhood and did everything he could to live and breathe another day, desperately holding on. I also really liked how the moment the ML saw the MC he wasn't immediately throwing everything away and only caring and loving for the MC, they had a gradual process of falling in love and both kept their business and private life's separate. Acting mature like an adult should do. And just like any other human being they all make mistakes, but once again handled it properly while thinking things through. Not just doing things off the bat with no thoughts about them or other people in mind. While what I said about the characters should be a bare minimum for most books. When characters introduced with the same characters types as the MC and ML usually show up, the books always have a very childish feeling to them, but this book truly made a unpleasant troupe into a realistic and beautiful one. <<less

I also read this a while ago, and just really appreciate how realistic the effects of the ML's terminal illness were described and shown. Most times with romance novels like these illnesses are romanticized and they don't really talk about the fear of not even knowing if you'll wake up the next day. The comfort and support the MC showed the ML made me really happy. The realistic-ness of having a major illness was nicely portrayed in the novel while also having a semi light hearted feeling to it. :))... more>>

1. How heartbreakingly precious and fragile the MC was. There's so many things I want to say about him and how I wish he could have lived a better life and what not. But honestly what was the most heartbreaking to me was the zero regard he had for his life. The trauma he went through won't and would probably never be healed fully in his life but I hope he can genuinely move forward and become his own person with his own thoughts and decisions. 

2. I remember there being a review talking about how they low-key felt like the MC was groomed by the ML. And I really do agree on that even though the MC wasn't technically underage or a minor. While it wasn't as disgusting at first because the ML wasn't aware how he was basically a blank slate, with the emotional understanding of a young child. As the book goes on the author states how the MC slowly turns into another version of the ML, example - copying his way of dressing, temperament, and habits, the same way a child would with an adult figure. Which low-key became a big no-no for me. It probably would have been better in the MC and ML never took on a heavily romantic route simply because the MC was emotionally no different from a child and really truly made me feel like I just read a book about a heavily ab*sed child getting groomed and living only for his child predator. Even if the MC was a grown adult.  <<less

This book was actually heavenly, both the story and the characters were amazing. You can tell the author is actually well informed on most to nearly all the things they write about in this book. It's so realistic it actually genuinely hurts me. 

The way the author talks about mental health and describes its treatment and care, things like medication, therapy, suicidal thoughts and actions is just chef's kiss. The only thing that threw me off a bit was how codependent the MC was with the ML, but considering his trauma it's honestly not surprising and makes it even more realistic. Also pat on the back to the ML actually being a genuinely kind and hardworking+ loving person to the MC, in so many online books you'll see ML's take advantage of the MC's vulnerability and manipulate the to only love and see them ( very psychotic, I know ), but the ML in this novel would genuinely do anything to see the MC happy and wishes the MC wouldn't be so dependent on him because he doesn't want the MC's life to fall apart if he's not there. Also the ML  completely followed MC on his mental health journey and cared and loved him so well. Of course there was a few things I didn't really agree with him doing, for example the ML moving the MC into an estate far away from people ( which he did do with his well being in mind ) , in situations like this it's a lot better for MC to be able to slowly integrate himself back into society or at least have friends and people he can talk to so he doesn't feel so lonely. 

The author also portrayed the aspects of society so nicely, for example the MC being treated badly because of his poor background along with his pride that made him not say anything to anyone and deal with the bullying and people talking bad about him by himself. 

The characters were also 3D and well portrayed, you literally see this young kids / young adults grow into more mature people and slowly drop the childishness they once held and learn to pick up responsibilities and do what's expected of them. Of course there are some things forcefully taken away from them, maybe being with someone you love, or doing something you genuinely always wanted to do, but this also shows the reality of how in life sometimes you're forced to adapt and integrate yourself into a life you might not really want. Also there were complex parental relationships, and SO much more that I could practically talk for hours

But basically this story was really good and I really enjoyed it :)) <<less
