The plot and writing are actually quite good, but I think the main character actually acting like a villain is what turns people off. Unlike a lot of novels where the main character is a "villain" but actually are not because they have a good purpose, this is not that. The protagonist will casually do objectively evil things just because he can within the first third of the story, and this is where people get thrown off and drop this novel, proceeding to give it a bad review. If you can get through that it gradually turns into a genuinely good story. As for the harem aspect, it's a mixture of both willing and initially unwilling members, and him corrupting the latter into becoming willing using unsavory methods. If you're looking for a strictly wholesome romance, I'd look elsewhere because of said methods. <<less
