I haven’t read part 2 yet since my favorite parts were really in his self-sacrificing determination to make a peaceful world he could slack off in, gathering over-protective and strong friends along the way

Also I really love how seemingly small details at the beginning end up being from highly significant aspects of his character (like why he asks for cream cake for his birthday)  this kind of aloof yet highly thoughtful character is my favorite! <<less

The public humiliation and noncon mar an otherwise immaculate read, but focusing on the sweet moments makes it better;  also raising someone as a child who becomes a romantic partner later is hard to pull off (HOB is a rare exception given the time gaps and individual development) <<less
