Curious, have you ever read Card Room? If so, feel free to ignore the following dump.- between the cookie blobs are spoilers but they aren't big ones, just info about the world you'd read in ch 2.

If not, and you liked The World Is Online, then I think you'd enjoy it, though CR is still ongoing. Like World Online, it has a similar concept of "Props" (known as props or cards) and a sort of game world (which is, of course, called the card world), though in Card Room I'd almost say the game world is more...complex? Instead of the enemies being based on actual game and fairy tale characters it's got a more eccentric but organized feeling I think, and both stories have a similar concept of the world having it's own (sometimes aggressive) residents and the players being outsiders, and the main couple is a power couple who's abilities compliment each other (yet each also have their own shortcomings, for example the mc is great with solving puzzles and thinking on his feet but physically no stronger than a normal man while the ml is basically a math/puzzle idiot with strong physical capabilities and survival instincts). Their teammates are also very quirky, and like to tag along with the brainy mc and brawny ml to clear rooms. They don't particularly drag the two down despite being less clever by comparison, and each have their own kinds of roles they fill in so they don't feel useless. The props mc gets are kinda funny, too, because they make sense but it's also a question of "okay but why?"

[The novel covers a few genres in the card world, as each card suit (hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs) has a game master (an Ace) and a particular focus with difficulty that increases on a scale from the lowest 2 to the highest K. For example heart cards are mysteries, clearing them requires you to gather clues from the environment and characters within to solve a case or three, it's fun to try and solve along but frankly I'm a mystery idiot so I suck at that. Spades are survival rooms, it's where anything that can kill you probably will try at least once. Diamonds are mechanical rooms, escape rooms, puzzles, and mazes. And clubs are gambling games, where one can gain money, lose money, and players may or may not kill for money depending on the gambling games put forth.]
