Now moving onto the main couple, I have to say that I rate the romance with 5 stars; although the progress might be slow at first and sometimes both characters drag on the pining enough to make one scream in frustration, this couple left a deep impression on me. Interestingly enough, I didn't like the ML much at the beginning, since we always see things from MC point of view, some of the ML's actions could come off as either petty or inconsistent (like, does he like MC or not?), but once you get to see things from his perspective, you understand why he acts the way he does and that he's not as cool and level-headed as he originally appeared, but actually is very awkward and inexperienced at romance and as a naturally pragmatic person, he sometines fails to understand that he can't apply the same logical and calculative methods that he uses in his day to day life to emotional matters. In short, the novel is very clear in that both characters have their own flaws to work on and have to grow as people and learn to communicate and compromise for their relationship to work, which both of them do and build a strong and trusting bond as a result of it. <<less

I ought to warn you, this is an honest to god Apocalypse novel, there's none of that "yeah technically there's an apocalypse happening on the side but the MCs are so OP that it barely affect them" nonsense, the danger is real and every character in this world constantly lives their life at the edge of the knife; suffices to say, the suffering is all worth it at the end but prepare a box of tissues for the journey just in case because this is a tear-jerker for sure! <<less

I deliberated wether to put this novel in here or in my other rec list, which is more specific to fluff-filled pieces, but finally decided to put it in both, since I found it enjoyable enough to land a place among my favorite danmeis.
