But I make the comparison since they have similarities, they are both funnily s*upid but also s*upidly funny, they both have a somewhat tragic undertone as they go on, they have a really good cast that heavily contribute to the s*upid and the funny. They also both start out a bit hard to get into but as you go on their quality shines. I would definitely recommend to anyone willing to read past first the first arc! <<less

One of my favourite FL novels, it’s quite tightly written but it’s a shame that the translation is currently at a snails pace.

This has been given a lot more slack on NU than it deserves, essentially this novel is solo levelling (the novel not the manhua) but... more>> actually good, the fights are very descriptive, more so than many other novels. The MC seems somewhat robotic at the beginning but by continuing to read you see that he is quite human. His only cheat would be in his setting of coming back to life, but other than that his power is accumulated without cheats ,like a system no one else has or a quirk/ability no one else can get, and it would be somewhat plausible for someone to kind of replicate his strength if they followed the impossibly hard route he decided to go. Many people on this site seem to have problems with characters with a hero archetype, but I think here it’s done well since he as a person genuinely wants the benefit of others and has put in the effort to achieve power so that he can help others. It’s a good read and it gets better later on (floor 60 was such a blast) and I recommend it. <<less

This novel could be a lot better if ,instead of the face slapping breaks in between major arc, the novel focussed a lot more on the developing psychology of our MC, and how due to various interactions with humanities horrors he became a lot more apathetic to the evils around him, till the end the MC is a good person but the novel does make it clear that the MC has developed in such a matter - but didn’t explore it to the extent it could have, if it did MHoH would easily be 1 on this list. Having said that said face slapping scenes are enjoyable and lighten up the novel inbetween its heavy arcs. This novel has a very interesting setting, and if you are willing to read any other fantasy on this site I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one also. <<less

UPDATE: I can not stress enough, absolutely read this, it’s really f*cking good, every arc so far has been a blast, the author has proven themselves capable of effective foreshadowing and world building, finding out the mysteries of Cathays old hell and how our MC develops into the new King of Hell was amazing. Also, I find the many people complaining about the nationalism in a kingdom building novel to be daft. <<less

This is great. The MC is unique and author uses different arcs to flesh him out and avert expectations (which is funny since the few negative reviews are based on these expectations which that they have yet to see overturned) e.g. we see him beating up a seemingly innocent man and the author makes us expect that he’s just somewhat daft, but we see that he’s actually clear headed as the arc goes on. There’s also this kind of f*cked up pattern that the bad guys follow, in how they’re making/fusing people into something they hate which makes me wonder whether I am overthinking this pattern/ wonder about the MCs circumstances in his first life.... more>> style="line-height: 40px;"> SPOILER: I wasn’t overthinking it so the author has also shown the ability to place consistent motifs and themes. <<less

UPDATE: So I caught up, and at this moment in time, compared to where LoTM was I most definitely enjoy this more (having said that I am aware I am in the minority here), this novel i feel is a lot more balanced than LoTM which is insane to even consider since that novel was incredibly well paced and written. It can easily switch between comedy and action, the power system is great and each fight is akin to a JoJos stand battle where you need to figure out an enemies quirk and counter it, so every fight between ability users are a lot more thought out and interesting. The mystery and world building is less prevalent here than in LoTM but is still is a large portion of the story and we are constantly reminded that not everything is as it seems and that us and our characters know very little about the mysteries of this world as we watch them go on their adventures to reach some type of truth. <<less
