Love this twisted main character so much.  He'll cause an entire war just so he can get rid of a potential enemy.  While also tricking both warring empires into a scheme where he'll come out on top.  This is an absolutely well written novel with plenty of interesting characters to go around.  Even the characters that may seem boring are brought to life through the actions of Lee.  If I had to bring up one problem, it would be how Hayan's personality seems to be all around the place.  In one chapter she'll be ready to fight another girl just so that the other girl won't be around the main character.  But the very next... more>> chapter she won't care if the main character is surrounded around different girls.

This novel won't betray the reader for what it truly is. That being the story of Cale and the people that he met on the way. A story of self-sacrifice. And a story of family. Some of the characters may seem one dimensional at the beginning but give it some time and all if not most of the characters will experience growth. Currently I'm on chapter 700 and the author is about to release the last few chapters.  This novel was apparently inspired by the novel's extra which most people have heard of.  I enjoyed a lot of expects of the Novel's extra, but I felt it was lacking in multiple different places.  The Author's POV truly succeeds and does what the Novel's extra could not. Everything within The Author's POV is just better then the novel's extra whether it's character development, pacing, or even the overall story.  At the beginning you'll think that it's your typical KNovel, but as you continue reading you'll find that everything is not as it seems. <<less

During the beginning I was hesitant to continue reading because of how it seemed like it was going to be an edge lord story. I'm grateful that I continued reading because although I do like the main character Sunless, the story excels at bringing the side characters to life. The first book (part?) of this story was a little slow because of the need to introduce the unique powers and components of the story. However the second book was an absolute master piece. Their are plenty of twists and turns throughout that you'll always be on edge for what'll happen next. As of chapter 244 I've really enjoyed it.  However, I've heard that this novel takes a big fall in quality after chapter 400.

First off, I'd like to discuss the overuse of self-sacrifice within the story. The protagonist of the story dies around 3 times and is brought back every single time. After around the second death I lost the emotional connection that is paired with a character that you enjoy dying. It seemed like the author was abusing the act of self-sacrifice to bring out an emotion moment within the reading. Next, I feel like some characters are just put to the side after their stories are fully explored. I felt like this was especially the case for the ex-militaries story. Overall, this story had the strongest and most intelligent conclusive story that I've read. The problems that I listed are personal problems that I had with the story that could easily be argued against. I would rate this story a solid 8/10 <<less

Within the 256 chapters that I've read the students haven't really been developed much at all (which is very surprising). Another problem that I have is that the author teases at typical tropes in these types of novels. An example of within a lot of novels is, "Oh my god the teacher has a chronic illness!!!!!!!!" (but the teacher is totally ok...) This happened within the first 60 chapters but the author never did anything with it...? <<less

This is a Japanese Harem novel disguised as a Chinese novel.  And I've got to say that this is far superior to any other pure Harem novels.  My favorite thing about this novel is the unique personalities that clash with one another.  Also, the main character isn't afraid to say things that need to be said to his female companions.  Honestly there's not much to say about this novel besides it being good for what it is.  ... more>>
