Ahhh where do I start? After getting over like 1/4th of the book (25 chapters), things start picking up and the read is much more enjoyable and adorable. The character have their own lil quirks and personalities, the side characters are memorable enough too ie. I ACTUALLY REMEMBER THEM (Nan Jia, Shen Mi..). Our little protagonist Yue Zhishi is an adorable mess near the beginning of the story but is able to learn and grow as a decently written character, our ML is like the other ice mountains but like, the sun shines on him a lot and he mellows out. I remember putting this off because I read the first few chapters and didn't get into it but... more>> I picked it back up a few days ago and, NO REGRETS. The story itself is interesting and the premises of yaoguai/cultivation in the modern world was pretty good. The MC is a thickheaded 4000 year old man child, the ML is a hidden cutie who is cold on the outside warm on the inside. The main characters go through a lot together which is nice and they get fleshed out a lot later in the story. Talking about the story, I wanted to know more about the elders and what happened+ a little bit more of Fun Li's relationship with Zhuang Qing after the Dao marriage. Wanted more info about ML's childhood ab*se . . . Why? Well because I want to. Romance wise . . . FU LI'S HEAD IS THICKER THAN A SNICKER oMG OAO! Cough, the romance takes a while, aka 100+ chapters before they start questioning "What is Love~". Even with that though, pulling through was a good choice. Personally though I WANTED THE DOKI DOKI BUT I DIDNT GET IS WITH THES NOVEL QAQ!! IT WAS CUTE AND ALL BUT MY FACE THE ENTIRE TIME READING WAS 0_0 (except for when I cried... wuuuuu). <<less
