And it's my fault that I'm late on discovering this great novel!What can I say? I loved almost everything about this. I said almost because the only thing I don't particularly liked about this (aside from being so short lol) is the s*upidity and naivety of Baili Qingmiao. The first part was full of her brainless self. I admire her character development at the end, though, and it revealed by then why she acted that way.I loved that every plotholes and illogical events presented at the beginning from the perspective of the books were gradually uncovered by Wenren E (MC). Everything was answered before the novel ends. There's also this war part between the righteous and demonic sect (which was usually shown at every xianxia novels) and there was a clear explanation on why the war was needed every once in a while. Reading that explanation, it didn't occur to me that waging a war like that was significant, especially on the mortal world. That was actually a really good reasoning.I also freaking adore the relationship between Wenren E and Yin Hanjiang (ML). The sincerity and angst were balanced. It's a slow romance but the transition of their relationship from being master-subordinate to lovers was tender and warm but painful at the same time. As an individual, Wenren E is a demon lord of a demonic sect, ruthless and cold, but he never involved or harmed innocent mortals. He's a really great character. Yin Hanjiang is Wenren E's most loyal subordinate and he actually saw himself as his Venerable's sword, and actually voluntarily acted like one. He was like a puppet who always answers to his Venerable without asking or giving any opinion. And that attitude actually affected his mentality at one point and from their, a lot has happened to him and his relationship with Wenren E. Their development as an individual is amazing, as well as the development of their relationship.Apart from the MC and ML, my most favorite character is Zhongli Qian. Since I always loved smart characters, he really got my attention. He's actually the smartest and most observant (aside from Shu Yanyan) and you just have to give him few hints in order for him to know the situation. He's a gentleman but he's not overly kind and naive. He's also not hypocrite just like those righteous cultivators. Even Wenren E respected him a lot and Yin Hanjiang even trusted him with the management of the sect. In the sect, he's the most rational and decent person with no underhanded tricks and really has the sense of responsibility. Poor him, because of that, he handled all the stress inside the sect LMAOI'm telling you, this novel is really worth the read. It deserved to have so many good reviews and ratings. Amazing, from the plot to the characters! It's so great and everything really satisfies me. I highly recommend this novel to literally everyone! I rarely read novels with ABO setting. It's not that I don't like it, I'm just not used to it. But after reading this novel, I might consider reading more of this kind of setting.This is such a sweet and fluffy read that was a good stress reliever. There was actually no deep plot and was mainly focus on the Pei Shaoze (MC) changing the dog-blood events from the OG book and protecting and paving the way for Cheng Xia (ML). I was actually hesitating when I read the 'misunderstanding' tag but fortunately, there were no angsty and frustrating misunderstandings that dragged the story, just sweet and funny misunderstandings that actually developed their relationship into a deeper one.This novel has a seme protagonist and Pei Shaoze is such a good MC! He never took advantange of Cheng Xia, emotionally and sexually. He's such a cold and indifferent gentleman. On the other hand, Cheng Xia is a sunny, adorable and lively baby that deserves everything in the world. I also loved his wild imagination, when he already imagined his wedding with President Pei, their children's names and where they would go in kindergarten, when in reality, Pei Shaoze still considered himself as the 'father figure' who cultivated his seedling. He's so adorable! I really loved his cheerful aura! I actually can't imagine this sunny baby being tortured in every aspects in the OG book by the s*um OG Pei Shaoze. I'm just glad that our own MC Pei Shaoze came and changed Cheng Xia's fate, treasured and protected him and preserved the pure cinnamon roll.I was also satisfied that in the ABO world, they got to have their own talented and adorable children and even spent their life with each other until they grew old and even died almost at the same time, then when Pei Shaoze came back to the real world after that, there's also his Cheng Xia in the real world and they've got the 'second life' they could spend with each other again.I also adored Pei Shaoyan as a supporting character. He's the actual wingman and the number one shipper of his older brother and his Cheng-ge. I also loved his character development, from an unruly and delinquent to gradually becoming a responsible person.If you're looking for a quick, fun and relaxing story with a simple storyline, this novel is for you. I was trying to get out of my reading slump caused by a particular novel and came across this novel while looking for something to entertain me. I was not convinced at first and thought that since this novel is quite short, even if I ended up not liking this, it wouldn't take too much time. I was totally not expecting to pick up a gem! Honestly, the only downside of this is that it was too short for me!! Though plot-wise, this has a perfect length, not too condensed and not too dragging either. But because I loved this so much and I want to read more of the MC and ML, 66 chapters are definitely not enough. What I loved the most about this is the relationship between Jiang Chijing (MC) and Zheng Mingyi (ML). Among the countless BL couples that I've read, they're definitely included on the top of the list that has a great chemistry. The s*xual tension between them is almost tangible, it was making me sweat. Their bickering and flirting really made my mouth ached from grinning so much. They're also both have wild and filthy mind, so imagine their s*x life. They're so enjoyable to read that I didn't even realized I already reached the end of the novel. That's why I thought it was too short for me!!I also loved Zheng Mingyi's sexy brain!! Jiang Jiang is definitely not s*upid but when he's having a verbal sparring with his man, his brain was turning into paste and according to him, he really needed to spend too much brain cells. It's so funny when they're having two different conversations at the same time. Reading their antics brought me so much happiness and satisfaction!! Seriously, please read this one. I finished this in one sitting and can't even believed that I reached the end just like that! I just freaking love this novel so much! I've read enough of Ting Shuang's (MC) secondhand embarrassment to last for a few years! It's so hilarious and embarrassing that I only found myself facepalming, and I even have moments when I was peeking through my fingers while reading Ting Shuang losing his dignity.

But seriously, I just love the relationship between Ting Shuang and his older lover Bai Changyi (ML). Just a reminder that they have a huge age gap (12 years) but both of them are already adults. They both have past relationships. At the start of the novel, Ting Shuang was even going through a breakup with his first and long time boyfriend. Bai Laoban, on the other hand, was once married and had a female companion but because of the truth of him being gay, they got divorced. Though they both have relationship experiences, you can easily distinguished the gap of their life experiences. Though both of them are adults, Ting Shuang had a childish attitude and immature way of handling things. He has a very bad temper and he likes to always make a fuss. But his personality complements Bai Laoban's personality perfectly. Bai Laoban is just so patient, so understanding and so level-headed. He's rational and can keep his calm all most of the time. He's so dependable and reliable. He's literally a perfect partner anyone could have ever wished for! I almost commented the same thing in every chapter: 'I want a Bai Changyi for myself!'. He's just so mature and he can handle a relationship really well.

Seriously, please try reading this novel. I really really recommend this to anyone and everyone! I'm pretty sure that you'll like this! <<less

It actually took me more than a month to finish this novel. Granted, this has a little over 300 chapters, but I've read novels even longer than this and it didn't take me that long to finish them. It's not that this novel is not good. Actually, this is really amazing. But for me, it's not a novel that I would like to read in one sitting. I liked it better when I took my time reading it. This is just a short novel that I've read in one sitting. I can't say that this is angsty but I got a tinge of pain in my heart a few times because of Zhang Jue's selfless, unrequited love. For years, he kept his feelings to himself and never asked anything. He never expect anything in return. It's painful to see him that way, especially when he has a little self-esteem and he always looked down on himself.

I understand why most of the readers got a mixed feelings towards Chen Boqiao at the first half because of how he handled Zhang Jue's feelings for him, because I sometimes felt frustrated too. But I can also understand that he also haven't fallen in love ever and he's trying to figure out his real feelings for Zhang Jue without being influenced by Zhang Jue's feelings for him. Their romance is kind of slow burn, but you can see how Chen Boqiao slowly falls in love with his introverted ex-schoolmate and how he dealt with it. 

This novel has no spectacular plot lines, but focused more on how the two cultivated their relationship. This is worth the read and you'll be introduced to a precious character you wanted to protect at all cost. Throughout my time reading, I just want to boost Zhang Jue's confidence and tell him how precious he is and he's perfect the way he is. I recommend this novel to everyone. Just a reminder that it has mature contents. It won't waste your time because even if you ended up not liking this, it only has 51 chapters and can be read in one sitting. But I'm pretty sure that even if you didn't end up loving this, you won't hate this as well. Try reading this one and judge for yourself! <<less

I should have rated this novel higher than this because it really has great potential. After reading 'The Wife is First', I was looking for novels with the same theme of 'redemption after rebirth' or something. I love to see that kind of sweet angst, the way either the MC or ML regrets being a s*um in their past life and try to redeem themselves in the next life and become a doting and caring lover. This novel considered to be what I was looking for. But you know my problem with this novel? The narration ended up being so repetitive and I actually felt frustrated about it.

I swear, almost every chapter, you'll be able to read the same narration of 'I hurt him in the past life, fortunarely I was given a chance to start over again', 'I was a scum, how could I have not seen how precious he was', 'He was cold and cruel on the outside but his heart is soft, I should have noticed it and treasure him' and many more along those lines. Like, for real! You've already mentioned it for how many times, you don't have to repeat it every single time. It dampened the emotional scenes a few times. But if I chose to close my eyes and ignore that problem, the story itself is actually good. I liked how the MC (seme protagonist) really see what's more important for him after experiencing his past life (which is his beloved Cult Master) and try to compensate by being a deserving partner for him. This novel wasn't focused on the revenge to those who killed them in the past life, but on their relationship and how he was going to manage it without repeating what happened back then.

This novel is still worth picking up, but I really felt frustrated to the point of skimming some chapters. It has only 66 chapters (which I considered pretty short) so it won't take too much of your time. It was not deep, plot-wise, but more focused on the character development and it was still good. <<less

He's the absolute gold in this novel. I so loved his sassiness, his wittiness (with the use of his nonstop mouth), his sarcastic retort and his usual nonsense. His big mouth is his advantage and and also his disadvantage. The nonsense that comes out of that mouth (and his quick wit) can get him out of difficult situations but more than anything, it also gets him in a lot of trouble! Isefel (his ML) also stated (from the last extra chapter) that he loved to kiss Feisha's lips the most out of his body parts because then he can shut his lover up. And can I mention that I always freaking loved their ship dynamic, one is long-winded and a chatterbox while the other one is reticent and indifferent. They have opposite personalities but they fit so well!The development of his relationship with all the 'creatures' in Noah's Ark is so good, especially his hilarious banter with Gin. And their gossip moments are the best! They even started a gossip group among themselves. Feisha's natural talent for matchmaking is just also perfect! The humor of this novel is so abundant from start to the end but there's also a bit, just a little bit, of angst near the end. But because this  novel was just made to be hilarious, after the angst was resolved, it came back to its usual humor that was even funnier.If you really want a light, entertaining and hilarious read, you should really try this. Reading this novel is so enjoyable that I finished this in one sitting. I swear, even if this won't become your favorite, this will definitely not waste you time. <<less

For those who have loved or enjoyed reading FOD, you might also like this, but personally I have a bit of issues with this in some aspects compared to FOD. It's funny because I think FOD has more unpleasant and triggering tropes than this. Also in this novel, the MC actually recognized his ML easier that the MC in FOD (which was frustrating when I was reading FOD because I felt cheated whenever the MC recognized the wrong guy)I enjoyed reading Shang Ke (MC) and his journey of sacrifing his life 'heroically' but my issue is mainly with the ML. I really have a soft spot for devoted and doting lover (thanks to Lan Zhan and Hua Cheng for that), and the ML is exactly that. Though I don't really love an absolute domineering characters, I also don't hate them. But the ML is just on another level. He did as he pleases without asking for the MC's permission. Maybe the MC tolerated his actions, but I just don't like the fact that he forces his desires on him, especially when he's having a negative emotions, such as jealousy, anger, fear etc. Most of the time in their pleasure time, the ML just penetrates the MC dry! That last arc, he just straight up r*pes the MC, and they even used that term because that's what really happened. It's actually upsetting because I really love to see devoted and doting lover, and I also loved to see that 'whatever world we are in or whoever you become, I will always fall in love with you' kind of trope. The ML's tyranny personality kinda ruined that. Though I actually felt bad for him in every arc's ending because, you know, MC died 'heroically' (tragically) and he was always left devastated and lived on his own in despair and grief. I've already mentioned the aspect you should be aware before reading, but overall, I don't regret reading this novel. The confession part is one of my favorites though. That's one hell of direct yet heartfelt and mature confession! Perfectly fit for the tense situation. All in all, this is a satisfactory read. The relationship of the MC and ML gave a perfect amount of sweetness, bitterness, s*xual desire, maturity, understanding, sincerity, longing and devotion. It also sprinkled some angst in the middle of the story, not too much, but it added flavor to their relationship. Reading how their relationship developed, how they experienced ups and downs individually and together, and how they compromised to achieve a happy ever after, it just brought me so much satisfaction and happiness.

I've read Mu Su Li's novels before, such as GUEE, Mou Mou and Copper Coins, and I LOVED those three novels from the bottom of my heart. So I really have so much expectations on this novel. I was not disappointed even a bit, and it even exceeded my high expectations!!

The plot is really well-paced and the characters, not just the MC and the ML, are fleshed out. I love the perfect balance of law-related cases, romance, drama and humor in this one. Loving the MC and ML is a given, I'm even unbelievably attached even to the supporting characters. Perfect amount of plot-twists and everything about the plot has perfect sense. The extremely small details that you would think are there just for the sake of it and sometimes also has the posibility that you would overlooked it, but you would suddenly discover a few chapters ahead that it's not just a decoration, but a sprinkle of foreshadowing *chef's kiss*

There are many technical terms but this wouldn't stop you from understanding the cases clearly. The cases that you thought are unrelated, but are actually interconnected with each other, and I'm freaking amazed with how the author handled it! I'm always into badass characters, both physically and intellectually, and clever characters are of course what I'm always looking for. Yan Suizhi (MC) and Gu Yan (ML) are both that kind of character. Their personalities are not bland, they're realistic and I'm very much satisfied it!

I've said this before with my reviews of Mu Su Li's other works, but her writing has this ability to draw me in. The flow of the words, the poetic way of narrating without unnecessary and overly flowery words, the humor. I'm in love with very part of the writing. Of course, kudos to the translator, luckykoi, as well for the wonderful effort of translating this amazing novel. I have no other complain on this novel except for the fact that I wished there's more of it. I would have loved more cases defended by our two First-Class Lawyers. 

Seriously, this novel is high up there on my recommendation list. It's very obvious from the 5-star rates from the majority of the reviewers here in NU, but this novel is a gem! Please please please read this novel!! <<less
