Both characters have deep set trust issues (very understandable given their past experiences), but despite having their suspensions, they are willing to hand over their hearts to each other even at the risk of it being flung to the depths of the abyss. Note: the MCs’ near omnipotence does make you roll your eyes at multiple points in the story, but the author salvages it—to some degree at least—towards the end by making a big revelation on their origins. <<less
