it took me a little while to warm up to Yogiri as the MC, but now i can say im pretty fond of him. he has such skewed morals and he’s lowkey a psychopath, but that just makes his interactions with the other characters always so much fun. he literally could care less and i love that about him.

the last two volumes were by far the best ones. it completely destroyed the status quo. the main characters had a set, not-vague goal, and even though there were different POVs, none of them felt like filler (which was a problem every other volume before had). 

this LN is incredibly flawed, but i had such a great time reading it. i 100% recommend! <<less

the reviews that say the first few chapters are an absolute chore to get through are 100% right, but as boring as it is, i think it sets the tone for what kinda novel this is from the start. 

if you’re expecting insane tension-filled esper battles with an OP MC, you’ll be so disappointed that you’ll probably end up crying. but if you go in expecting a slower paced, slice-of-life, comedy novel you (might) have a good time with it.

there is a pretty sizable cast of characters, but they’re all super fun and unique, which is definitely the highlight of this novel. if everything above sounds like your cup of tea, i 100% recommend. it’s really funny and kinda sad too  <<less

i dunno bro, i just love this premise so much. it makes me smile like s*upid when im reading it. 

but i also think it’s just genuinely great. went in expecting a low effort CN novel with a goofy surface plot and zero substance, but then the chapter with the king happened, and i was like “ohhhh, so it’s NOT one of those novels”

i love love love the parody of the “hero from another world” genre and the protag Liu Ji just being a normal guy (who also can turn into a potato) really helps sell the parody. im so invested that it’s kind of crazy. <<less

the romance wasn’t the best. i think Nightingale should’ve been the obvious choice over Anna, who’s barely a character and is barely in the story. but eventually i just found Nightingale’s hyper-fixation on Roland to be kinda creepy and stalkerish.

anyways, i just think the author played his cards too soon, because as soon as the crown prince succession and evil church stuff ends, it starts losing steam and then the story becomes really convoluted and detached from the inital plot. 

my verdict: the first 700ish chapters are great kingdom building stuff, after that, uhh…. <<less

the MC and side cast have set personalities, the plot follows an obvious pattern, and the humor is sometimes funny.

 i wouldn’t recommend this as a first pick to anyone, but if you don’t have anything pressing to read & you like medical stuff, you can give this a try. <<less

i love the characters sm. Duncan (our MC) is such a fun guy. he’s gentle & affectionate, while also being a bit cheeky and really intimidating. the side cast is great too. their personalities are so distinct & they’re pretty well-rounded. i love Sailor sm i need a figure of him or smth 

the setting is also really great. it’s a weird mix of historical & sci-fi but it surprisingly works. the vibes are just so dark and despairing that you can’t help getting pulled in. idk, i don’t want to spoil but the world just has such a hopeless feel to it that it just makes me sad

the writing style and grammar can being off sometimes, but the great prose from the more emotional moments make up for it. 10000% recommend, DSE is one of my favorites  <<less

i dunno, it’s just something about it. i love the unique spin on the hunter genre, where the story just happens to take place in a world of hunters/dungeons instead of directly being about that. it’s such a refreshing take on the troupe that i can’t help getting intrigued.

i love love the MC Gio, and the idea of him just being able to change personalities at will is so fun. 

this is a slice-of-life though, so if you’re expecting intense action you will hate this novel. there is none of that until much later, when Gio finally assimilates with a certain red-haired personality.

the characters, like in a lot of Korean WN, are great. i love Kim Soleum (our MC) and Braun’s very weird friendship-ish thing that they got going on. whatever it is. personally my favorite part of the novel.

same issue i had with other horror novels though is that it gets a bit repetitive. there’s honestly no downtime between one arc and the next and the scenarios start blending together after a while

i think i can definitively say that this is the most disgusting novel ive ever read. not just because it’s insanely gory, but also with things like hygiene and body horror. every chapter is a such horrible violation of your five senses and i just love it so much. the world of DBI is so gross and uncomfortable but that makes it hard to put this novel down.... more>>

the story is such a trip. it’s extremely confusing and distressing all the time. our MC Li Huowang has trouble differentiating the real and the fake and the author does such an amazing job conveying that feeling to the reader. the sudden setting/POV changes honestly feels dizzying.

 Li Huowang is a really fun protagonist to follow because he’s very short-tempered, brash, and perpetually confused. he’s an uncommon Asian webnovel MC and because of that, he might be my favorite MC of all time. our side characters Li Sui, Bai Lingmiao, Zhuge Yuan, and the rest of the Cowheart Village crew are great too. most of them have their own mini-arcs that progress throughout the novel. it makes the world feel very lived in. Li Sui is 100% my favorite character though.

biggest critique is that it definitely drags in some places or feels like the same thing is being repeated over and over again. but Dao of the Bizarre Immortal has quickly become one of my favorite webnovels ever. extremely confusing but super compelling. 1000/10 <<less
