I am a proud member of the Maxi Defense Squad and I will not allow anyone to slander her. The beginning part of this novel is probably where it shines the brightest since the high fantasy turnabout isn't my favorite twist of all things (nothing wrong with it, just isn't my preferred genre), but seeing Maxi grow and heal is so great. I talked about this is my Doting MLs list, but Edgar doing his best not to shove his feelings onto Rubica because he knows how that feels is so considerate of him. The self-awareness is strong with this one. Edgar constantly gushing over how sweet and pretty Rubica is fuels my soul. Where are the men like this in real life? I love this idea that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so before Edgar realizes his feelings for her, he views her as rather plain looking, but as more time goes on, he starts noticing how truly lovely she is. And Rubica helping young girls find inner beauty and learn self-love through fashion? I sincerely love her. Some people hated and found her irritating for how high and mighty she was acting about her love with Arman, but I find that aspect of her charming and resolute. She knew what she wanted in her heart, and she didn't allow herself to get shaken just because Edgar has a beautiful face.

I really enjoyed how much Rubica taught Edgar without even trying. The analogy she gave about love versus possession was beautiful, using how one might 'love' a flower because of its beauty and wish to possess it, but that love for a person should be more free than that; loving someone and wanting whats best for them even if it means letting them go. It was then that Edgar realized that none of the people who claimed to love him truly loved him, and that they only wished to possess him because of his beauty. There are so many moments like that in the novel that make it such a valuable thing to read.

 This novel is seriously underrated and I will fight anyone who disagrees. Not really but also :)

Also, the misunderstanding about Arman and Edgar is so funny! So many people were annoyed by it, but honestly I would've loved it if it kept going. Comedy gold right there and I was thoroughly entertain by it since it was a low impact misunderstanding and was done in a way that kept me laughing.

I've already reread this novel several times and man oh man, I will continue to read it in the future. It can drag on in some places, and the pacing is probably where this novel is at it's weakest. I've seen novels with more intense plot lines wrap up far faster than this, and this particular novel's plot could have been wrapped up in 150 chapters MAX. However, where this novel is good, it's REALLY GOOD. <<less

I saw some people saying that the poetic and wishful way that the novel was written was a negative, and the reason why they didn't like it, and while I try my best to respect other people's opinions, I gotta ask.......WHY? Poetic and well done writing is such a rarity with fan translated webnovels, so when I came across this one with some of the most gorgeous character writing I've ever experienced, I damn near started sobbing from that alone.

The pain of the heroine, both physical and mental, and the desperation she feels when happiness and freedom are within her grasp only to have them be snatched away is so sob worthy. The relationship she builds with the hero and wanting him to kill her and then move on, while also being so saddened and lonely by the prospect of having to let him go........This is probably the only novel that I've read that's a true tragedy. While it might have a happy ending, I wouldn't know since I didn't get to finish this one, the vast majority of this novel is pain central, but it feels so poignant and meaningful. Absolute masterpiece of a novel.

I am desperate to see how this one plays out, and I have half the mind the buy the raws just to MTL myself, but the beautiful writing is part of the reason why I love this novel so darn much. <<less

Clint is seriously so sweet and kind, his playboy past aside. The love and care he shows just blows me away every time. And Ailea, sweet baby girl deserves the whole world, as well as peace, safety, and security. I don't know if this story is going in a revenge direction, but even if it doesn't, I won't complain since revenge is in essence, putting forth energy for the people who hurt you and sometimes you just don't want to deal with that. Should Ailea choose to prioritize her own happiness instead of trying to hurt the people who hurt her, as long as she's truly happy, I won't be mad. <<less

Not reviewed but this is probably one of the few novels I like where the romantic development wasn’t what kept me going. They have undeniable soft chemistry, but action was enthralling too. Can Yuri marry me? Asking for a friend (and that friend is me). This was literally the first ever KR RoFan novel that I ever read, so maybe that's why I have an attachment to it, but I promise it's good!... more>>

People say Yuri is a Mary Sue, and I won't deny that her backstory is a little padded (transmigration, test subject, vigilante barista), but I still love her. What I love is that although she's cold and emotionless, she still has some level of understanding of empathy. Some point this out as a plot hole, asking why someone who was supposedly stripped of her emotions feels the need to stick her neck out for other people, but honestly, I feel like that was implicitly explained. Although she cannot feel emotions, she understands their existence and the social implications that come with it. Her neighbor, Anne-Marie, is kind and good to her, so the socially correct thing to do would be for Yuri to help her by trying to keep Lakis (a perceived threat) away from her. If any one has read articles about highly functioning sociopaths, they often recount similar things as a way of existing peacefully in society. This is a little bit different from that, but the concept is the same. Understanding emotions and acting in accordance to what you know them to be is different from feeling them personally. <<less

The growth there was amazing, and I almost wish the story was about them instead, especially since they're one of my favorite ship dynamics, which is cute girl and stoic man. I know, I'm a pretty cliche and cheesy person, but what can I say? I just love it a lot. <<less

It's a smut, but there's so much build up and character development between the R19 scenes that they don't feel cheap. They feel earned and I actually really love both Erna and Kalion's personalities.... more>>

I saw some people saying that they disliked Erna for being so off put by Kalion's attempts to actually put their baby plan in action, but honestly, I wish people would give her a break. Once she's pregnant, Kalion's part will be over and done with but Erna actually has to carry the damn thing to term and give birth, and that messes with both the body and the mind. Excuse her for being a little uncertain and scared, s*x part aside. <<less

The characterizations, the world building, everything feels like so much care and thought went into it, and obviously the masterful translation job helps. Eugene is a really great FL. She's a little basic in some ways, but she actually takes into account a lot of things that many transmigration heroines don't, like where did the original soul go? Did she even transmigrate at all, or is she just a figment of the original person's imagination? Maybe it's like multiple personality disorder? What happens to her should the original soul come back? WILL they ever come back? Many transmigration novels ignore this aspect, essentially having the FL take over and have that be the end of it, but Eugene asks these questions and I'm so grateful that she does. <<less

I feel like the people who are rating this poorly were honestly expecting more than this novel was ever trying to be. It's a romantic comedy with kooky characters, hi-jinks, and a FL and ML dynamic of bickering and poking fun. It's not trying to be this ultra serious story with a cunning FL who outsmarts everyone.  This story is very loose, and I think that was obvious from the summary. It's fine if you went in with different expectations and were disappointed, but this novel made it very clear what it was trying to be from the very beginning. <<less

The beginning of this novel is, to put it bluntly, not good. It's paced weirdly, Ancia's language towards her father-in-law is weird, the cooking Korean food to get in everyone's good graces feels too easy, Blake lacks a personality outside of being cute, etc, I could go on forever. The reviews that dropped the novel and speak badly about it when that's all they read, well, if that was their only impression of the novel, then I can't blame them in some ways. When I first read this novel, I really had to push myself to keep going. Normally, I really don't suggest doing that. If you don't enjoy a novel, don't bum out the people who DO like it by continuing to read it and being poopy about it the entire time--- nobody likes that person. However, I kept having this feeling telling me to keep reading and to give this novel a fair chance, and yup! I'm really glad I did!

I stand by my opinion that the beginning of this novel isn't good, but the second half, right after Anicia goes missing and before the major times skip, that's where the novel goes from mediocre transmigration to hey! This is actually pretty neat! Some might call it melodramatic, but that won't stop me from turning the page. I see everyone who says that the Goddess should've been smarter than that and not been blinded by love like she was, and to that I raise NEARLY EVERY GREEK MYTH IN EXISTENCE. There is no one more prone to the folly of emotion than Gods, and I thought that her going a little insane and losing her mind a bit was actually one of the better pieces of story telling in this novel.

The reincarnation aspect feeds into the characters places in the world, explains their behaviors and personalities that were questionable in the first half, while giving you that added dose of fated lovers. Blake comes into his own as a more confident man, searching the world to find the one he lost, Anicia struggles with the apparent betrayal of a friend and the pain of a past already long since finished, seeing Anicia and the Goddess recover their friendship, Blake recognizing Anicia no matter what form she may take; it's those aspects of the story that make it so appealing to me as re-read material.

Though you bet your bottom dollar I won't be reading the start of this novel again any time soon. <<less

When I first read this, I was fully prepared to dislike the FL because all the reviews said I would, but honestly? I don't mind her. She's not amazing, showstopping, and I don't particularly love her, but the reviews really made it seem like I would loathe her guts by the end, but I didn't. They kept saying Rhia's pity party was exhausting to read, but considering like 75% of the novel is from Igor's perspective anyway, it's not as noticeable or nerve grating as the top review makes it out to be.

I will say that anyone who says the bulk of the responsibility is on Rhia's shoulders missed the entire point of the novel. They're both culpable for their terrible communication skills, but Igor's were the worst (self admittedly, like he says it). Rhia was terrified of him because damn near every interaction they had was negative. So when he asked her what her choice was and she failed to elaborate, his mistook that as her siding with the queen and then -rapes- her. Duty or not, he r*ped her pretty brutally for years. The final time even being especially cruel, leaving her black and blue with bruises.

I think that's why anyone who talks about Rhia victimizing herself and saying that Igor is her "ab*ser" with quotation marks is very strange to me, mostly that latter bit. Igor was unquestionably her ab*ser. He self admittedly r*ped her, and last I checked, that's ab*se, guys. You can make plenty of arguments about Rhia's inaction or inability to see what she could've changed or what she could've done differently, but Igor undeniably ab*sed her during their first life.

But the reason why I like this novel and while I reread it is because it's a fascinating character study into Igor's guilt. If you're planning on reading this, just treat Igor as the main character because honestly, it felt like that was the author's intent.

This novel is like Abandoned Empress if the author overcorrected. Where AE failed, forcing the innocent FL to go back and in time and somehow redeem the ML and stop his downfall, Igor retains his memories and fixes himself. He looks inward and redeems himself, and he does it so well that people are actually attacking the FL instead because of her failure to do the same. Though, she *kind of* does it towards the end, but that's probably where this author failed. That sentiment of the FL realizing what she could've done better should've been ingrained through the novel rather than hamfisted right at the end.

But even so, I really enjoyed reading Igor and Rhia's love story. For all this novel's failings, I liked it. <<less
