The gradual development of strength also makes you feel like the power is worth it, unlike other novels where stages are just numbers, and ranks are meaningless. 

The MC himself is somewhat reminiscent of a JP MC, which is my primary complaint about this novel. If not for that, this would definitely be contender for #2 on this list. <<less

One of the most innovative takes on a typical xianxia world I've ever seen. Dude initially thinks he's been plopped into a traditional ancient Chinese world with no knowledge of magic which is only gradually shown later on. The method to power up is also very new, with the MC building his body up ridiculously to beat down the few with innate talent for magic (bloodline nobility). It's also one of the few novels where the MC isn't an androgynous femboy but a bald muscular unit who accidentally ends up being a mafia boss.... more>>
