Girl scout activities 80% and spicy stuff 20%. God I f*cking love this novel. I've grown attached to pretty much everybody, even motherf*cking Jenas. Absolutely delectable that this story is heavily plot-driven while also focusing a lot on the characters and their development. The action scenes and overall story were great to follow. I was surprised that they already escaped even though there were 50+ chapters until the main story's ending, but the author expanded on their struggle against Jenas in a sufficiently satisfying way. Didn't drag out the ending, and instead focused on the emotional catharsis of these characters. Absolute cinema.

Margaret is so lovable, I adore how she stands her ground and goes ahead to do whatever she needs to do, effortlessly becoming the group's pillar. Enoch and Kayden, of course, experienced the most character development: Enoch became a diehard malewife and Kayden became mana Jesus. In particular, I really didn't expect to like Kayden so much, but his struggle against his family and Janes captivated my wretched heart... like, transcending humanity to save someone you love is one thing, but finally realizing that you're loved by others after a lifetime of not receiving love is so wonderful. I'm happy for him. On the other hand, obviously PTSD doesn't work exactly that way, but it's nice that Enoch was able to handle it with Margaret's help. Support system is important y'all.

Ruzef is so babygirl. Honestly, what a cutie. I want to give him little kisses like a pet. And speaking of pets, Eunji is so f*cking adorable, both in their snake and human forms. [In my heart Eunji is a daughter, even though by the end, Eunji is already referred to as a boy. So, just to make things fair, I'm using they/them to refer to Eunji; the kid doesn't have a problem with being in a dress even after the gender reveal anyway.] When Eunji said to Margaret that she's their unnie, mom, and savior... tears in my latina eyes.

I was so grateful that Yuanna didn't turn out to be an antagonist, like f*ck I love the way she is. She's conniving, mischievous, and clever, and her beef with the pope was fun to see from start to finish. Her girlhood bond with Margaret is so FRESH amongst the sea of rofan harem stories that neglect girl friendships. I love how Arthdal went from being annoying to being lovably annoying, like a little rascal. His bond with Enoch, in particular, reminded me time and time again that Enoch isn't just a Margaret-crazy guy but actually someone who has his own world and relationships. Unsurprisingly, I have the least to say about Diego; he definitely received the least screen time and focus in relation to Margaret compared to the rest of the crew, but he's still a-okay to me.

Connecting to what I said about how rofan harem stories tend to neglect girl friendships, in the same vein, male friendships are also really neglected usually, in favor of straight-up romance. Suffice to say, I'm incredibly satisfied by the actual existence of friendships here between the girls and the dudes. I love how I can actually feel the bond that has grown between these 7 people altogether. Everyone here feels alive, passing through the Bechdel test and whatever's the reverse with flying colors. Everyone can stand on their own, identifiable by their own characteristics and traits, independent of another character. At the same time, they're obviously heavily defined by their relationships here, in a positive sense. <<less
