That is, if you like reading novels where the FL achieves everything she wants with little effort and steps on everyone who tortured her previously, then you'd probably enjoy this.Part of my dislike is probably due to the MC's personality. It's very loud and proud. She acts like a cannon fodder tbh. LMFAO you know, the spoiled little princess who was fed with a silver spoon all her life and thinks she's superior because of it (in fact, thats literally her background XD). The "beautifying" is also very awkward. The original owner was dark skinned and had a petite figure with little curves. And because of that everyone disliked her. However, after changing skins (I mean this literally DX) everyone immediately thinks she's more beautiful than before and worthy of being loved. Even ignoring the blatant discrimination against skin color, I found the whole thing superficial to the extreme. I'm as much of a face-con as the average person, but this novel really goes over the top *skull-face*.ANYWAY … I won't be giving this a rating cause I didn't make it far. Growing up, her temperament had always been that of a boy's, and thanks to her effort, she managed to not only enlist in the army but also make many meritorious deeds. Unfortunately for her, just when her career was on the rise, her male cousin came back, taking over the identity she had been living as for 18 years and forcing her to forget everything that she had accomplished. Not only that, but they also married her off and conspired to kill her to keep her mouth quiet. Now that she's been given a second chance, all she wants is to take revenge and finally get to live her own life. The story is quite long-winded. Definitely not the same as your "fast-food"-like romance novels of the same genre. It's not all about drama and romance (in fact, it's the exact opposite, those things are only secondary). It's better described as a growing up story. We get to watch the FL as she strives to make a name for herself in this second life. All the while encountering familiar people from her past life. For example, the ML (who she had known previously, and was her "rival" General --- they were not close, but they had some pretty meaningful encounters. I won't be rating this novel because I've yet to finish or get to the halfway point DX. But, right now, I'm thinking it's worth 4-4.5 stars out of 5. <<less

She's not very ambitious, and all she wants is to live comfortably. It's her fortune that she ends up grabbing the attention of the Empress Dowager and the newly crowned Emperor (the ML, who is 13 at the start of the story), leading to her rise in the future.ALL IN ALL, if you like slow stories with lots of attention on political intrigue and character relationships, then this is not a bad choice for you. If you're looking for something romantic and sweet, then it's probably best to choose another story --- since the romance is very slow (the main CP start off young after all). The MCs are also not the focus of the story anyway. The scope of the novel is quite wide. So, although there is a clear heroine and male lead, their more like the most important characters in a history book (a.i. they get a lot of screen time and affect the progress more than others, but the reading is dry and distant.) This tone doesn't work for me, I like character-driven stories with close perspectives. So, such a distant approach bored me out. XD If you don't mind it though, it should be fine! I'll try reading it another day when I'm in a more contemplative mood, but for now, I'll leave it unfinished. <<less

Qi Yun was sickly from a young age, his family was relatively well off as a small landlord family, so they were able to take care of him to adulthood. But his time was running out, and he didn't really want to get married -- lest he ruins his wife's life. But, after meeting the FL, her pureness provided him with the optimism to try to live once again.GENRE: This novel is definitely more of a slice of life novel to begin with. the mood is very chill, with very little tension. It's really just the soft daily life of two people with very simple desires, working hard for each other in their own ways. Definitely good if you're looking for that kind of vibe! ACTUALLY, IDK why, but I thought this was a novel with lots of drama and intrigue. Perhaps there's a little bit of that as the story goes further along, (I only read 15% of the content XD so I can't be sure), but yeah. It's the opposite of what I expected at first.MTL: Since the TL is unfinished, I decided to read the rest in MTL, just to give it a try. It's not bad, at least 75% readable. But the relaxing experience is kind of ruined by the frustration of not being able to understand it completely XD So I ended up giving up on it early. OVERALL: I won't be giving this a rating since I didn't get past the halfway point, but I think that it's a good read. Not bad, at least. I would have probably completed it if the TL was completed. At the very least, it's not badly written and the characters are cute in their simplicity. <<less

So, this novel became more about the setting and the intrigue than the characters. A shame. I'm of the belief that its the characters that makes a story matter. I think the main issue is that BOTH the FL and ML are so mysterious.For example, I usually like "Lazy MCs" but I also understand that that's a very dangerous trap for authors. It makes them a bit too passive, which is why Lazy MCs are usually paired with naive or proactive counterparts. Here, the ML is very proactive, but since most of what he's doing is in the shadows, the balance is ruined... Ah, well, idunno. I'll try to reread it again another day, maybe I just missed something. Or maybe the novel gets better as it gets further along. I'll see next time. <<less

This is also the case when she met the dandy Prince Xu (who is the ML). THOUGHTS? Honestly, I didn't expect this to be so boring. I thought it would be a fierce back-and-forth kind of deal, but from the very beginning, no one could beat the FL. So there was absolutely no tension. It was just watching a wild girl beat everyone up over and over again XD It's fun at first, if only because it's so different from the usual. However, after a while, it got tiring. Maybe it gets better after a while, but I got too impatient to keep reading. (To provide some perspective, despite having made it to Ch. 73, I only read 20% of the content (the distribution between the chapters is peculiar. I suppose the later chapter are a loooooot longer. That was long enough, who knows how long it will take for the story to start doing something different.)ANYWAY ... since I didn't read even half of the content, I won't be rating this. If I did, I'm afraid it would be pretty low. Around the 2-3s. It'll just have to wait for me to reread later, maybe when I'm feeling more patient.  <<less

I don't think the novel is bad by the way, I barely read any of it, so it's a bit too much to settle it right here and now. It's just super unrealistic already, with so many plot holes I feel suffocated JDKDKDKD and it's only been 25 chapters DX.Summary: The FL (Ye Zhen) is the wang fei of an unpromising prince (who is the ML, it seems). The novel starts when said unpromising prince had just recently ascended the throne. As someone that has been in love with him all this time, despite never getting any of his attention, she's eager to finally see him again. However, rather than pick her up, the guy picks up another girl (Lu Wushuang). Furthermore, news of her family's impeachment comes all of a sudden, pushing her to the edge. She has no other choice but to bring out the token the ML had given her once upon a time. Hoping that he would remember when she saved him. However, the person who she trusted to hand it over betrayed her. And using the token, pushed his own sister (Lu Wushuang) to take her place.After that, the FL dies, roams around as a ghost for a while, and then finds herself back to the time of her death. It's not a rebirth though. It's a transmigration. She ends up inhabiting the body of her twin sister (who had been abandoned as a child.) Given a second chance, she wants to get back into the palace as an imperial physician so that she can get revenge. <<less

That being said, if you're the type of person who likes easy victories or just want to self-indulge into some fast-food romance and face-slapping, this probably isn't a bad read for you. I can see that many people liked it before, at least. It just isn't my type of novel.

Summary: (BEWARE OF MINOR SPOILERS) The FL, Murong Qi Qi, is a time travel from the 21st century (though it's not the one we know). In this world, there are martial artists who can slowly train up their bodies to surpass mortal limits. And the person the FL taking the role of is someone who was said to have no martial talent at all. The story begins five years after the FL had transmgirated, and because of this, we miss how she transformed the original owner's talentless body into a master of poison, martial arts, jewelry making, and so on and so forth. She had been banished from her home for some crime, and had been living in a nunnary since then (to the outside, at least.) In reality, she was playing with several identities. We first see her encountering some trouble with the Empire of Xi Qi's Prince Jing, who is actually the original owner's fiance. Unfortunately for Prince Jing, he's not the ML, and so he missteps from the beginning. Which is why, when the FL is brought back to her home in preparation for marriage, one of her goals is to break the engagement with him. As for the ML, IDK where he came from, suddenly he decided that the FL was the one for him. And so, that's where the bestowed marriage in the original summary originated. <<less

c168. This novel, what can I say? I think, if you look at it from the perspective of revenge and face-slapping, then it does a pretty good job. However, that's pretty much the entirety of the story thus far. DX I kept reading because I was waiting for something other than that. Be it in the romance aspect or something else. Normally, I would have liked this novel purely for the business management aspect and the magical space, fantasy aspect. However, those all turn out to be plot conveniences that makes everything super easy for the MC. Like, there's really nothing that can bring her down at this point, which begs the question... what's the... more>> rest of the story about? When I stopped, she had already divorced, earned a lot of money, and gotten revenge on the biggest players of her and daughter's horrible first life. As for the romance aspect I was waiting for, that ended up not being a focus either. So... ?? XD. Okay, that's that rant over with XD. Back to the rest of my review.

SUMMARY: This novel has a reborn MC, Fang Junrong. She's a lot older than most heroines, owing to the fact that she already has two children in their 20s (both of which are hers, btw. She gave birth to them. For some reason, I read mother-in-law as step-mother DX and thought they weren't hers at first LOLOL not that it changed much, I just didn't understand her son's situation.) After dying in his first life, she finds herself reborn 8 years into the past, back when her husband had first wanted to take in Jiang Yage (the heroine of the original novel). It should be said that the MC doesn't know that she was reborn into a novel immediately. It's not until she discovers the truth of her inherited bracelet (the magical space golden finger that Jiang Yage had stolen in her first life) that she discovers that her whole life had been based on a book, and that she was just a villain getting in the way of her son's and the original heroine's love story. Either way, however, she wanted revenge. Which starts with divorcing her s*um of a husband, and breaking ties with her son so that she can stay as far away from Jiang Yage as possible.

OVERALL... I think, if I had known that this was a novel all about face-slapping and revenge, my opinion of it wouldn't be so bad. It's just as expected, if you go into a novel expecting something and getting something else, it of course dampens your impression a bit XD. That's what I think anyway. So, I won't be giving this a rating until I come back to reread it later. Based on my current impression, which isn't that good, I would have given it a 3/5 rating though. On the lower end too. <<less

From the summary, it looks a bit like your typical Mary Sue story -- made even more ridiculous because the MC lives well from the very beginning. But, it ends up being the opposite. It's true that the MC is a Mary Sue, but the initial world settings are not there to make her more powerful but to provide conflict in a relatively tame, slice-of-life novel. SUMMARY:

The MC of this story, Liu Yunsheng, can be said to be your typical transmigrated heroine. She had a rough first life, wherein she was betrayed despite her best intentions. Such a life of course made her heart grow cold, and upon finding out that she had been reborn, her first instinct would have been to cut off relationships with others, lest she make the same mistakes and be abandoned like in his first life. Now, usually, to take advantage of this setting, the MC's family would be complete cannon fodders, with maybe one or two being supportive.

But here, that's not the case. Despite her being a daughter and the times still preferring sons over daughters, her family accepted her completely and willingly doted on her, warming her frozen heart little by little and allowing her to experience what it's like to live a happy and contented life. Of course, having got a taste of this, she would want to protect it and keep her family from getting involved in the dark side of the world. However, over the course of the story, she learns that it's impossible and she's caught between this simple and lovely life in the countryside and her love --- the ML, who had been a runaway prince that found his way into their village at a young age.

THOUGHTS:

I liked the novel, but because it was not quite to my expectations, I ended up stopping early. Well, that and because I usually don't like fluff in the first place. There were a little too few conflicts here for my taste, but I can't say that that's a bad thing. If I were in the mood for something fluffy, then I would have probably read this for a while longer. A lot of reviewers disliked the characters, but I actually thought they were interesting and well-established. For example, the MC suffered a lot in her first life, and the reason for her being so childish and innocent in this life is that she allowed it to happen. She wanted to experience her childhood from the very beginning. As for her lacking ambition, that could also be due to her first life, where she had been betrayed because of greed. Having been bitten twice, of course she would do her best to avoid it from happening again. As for the ML, from the very beginning, his upbringing wasn't simple. And his personality faults are explainable as such (not that that means its excusable). But yeh yeh XD.

Anyway, if you like slice-of-life romance, this is not bad. Just be aware that there is no real drama here. The conflicts that separate the MC and ML is simply them struggling with their circumstances and their desire for a simple life (which separates them again and again as they grow up). I'll definitely come back to reread this one day, though I'm not sure I can make it very far at the time. I mean, by the 200s, I already felt like things should have been wrapping up LMFAO. IDK what else is there? OVERALL ... really a lot better than what I was expecting! For now, I won't be giving it a rating. But it should be around the 3/5 range. <<less

The novel picks up when she's 11-12 years old. She now has 6 younger siblings (all of whom are girls), and her mother is pregnant with another two of unknown danger. In all the years she's lived in this family, she was oppressed because her mother was unable to birth a son for their father (who was also not favored in their family). The first arc of the story focuses on the struggle of young girls in this patriarchal era where sons were favored over daughters. Without a cheat in her hands and her body too young and weak, the FL has no choice but to grit her teeth and wait for the opportunity to separate her mother and younger sisters from the family. As for the ML, he's not really a big player here. But his name is Xiao Linyu, and he's the son of a wealthy merchant from the capital.THOUGHTS: All in all, this novel definitely has its merits! It does get a bit boring at times, tbh. I usually like poor-to-rich stories and business management, but the author didn't really handle that aspect well (at least, it got more and more casual as the story went along -- it's not the focus). If I have to describe what this story is about, I'll refer back to the theme about the patriarchal society of ancient times. Again and again, that's the main source of the conflicts. For now, I won't be rating this! But, if I were to, I think it would be somewhere around 3/5 (specifically, 3.45/5. Just short of rounding up to four stars.) Maybe that impression will improve in the next reread though! We shall see. <<less

I just got bored after a while because everything was a bit too easy (and also cringey).___________SUMMARY: The FL is a traditional medical medicine professional and assassin. She can also do pretty much anything else (from growing fruits, to cooking, to singing, to dancing, to playing multiple instruments, to so much more. Pretty much, anytime there's a need for something to be done, she'll have a way to do it). Anyway LMFAO, this multi-talented person transmigrates after dying from a bombing accident. The original owner of her new body (Du Xiaoli) is a poor, orphaned little girl with only her older brother (he's 10 and she's 7) as her backing. Suffice to say, life is pretty tough at first. But as is typical in these kinds of novels, the FL manages to scrounge up money to kickstart a business to change things up. And oh, by the way, get in touch with the ML (Han Mingyi) and a couple of his trusted confidants.What I described is just the first arc. The next arc delves into life in the bustling state capital. At the time, the FL is just a few years short of the age of marriage and had pretty much finished building a sizable fortune for herself. But she gets dragged into trouble because of the original owner's identity and her ties to people from the capital and the Jianhu (yes, this novel can be considered Wuxia — since the FL herself practices martial arts — though it's not the focus).________THOUGHTS: I didn't finish the novel so I won't be giving it a rating. If I were to, it would probably be three stars or under. As for why … First, the FL is a very problematic protagonist. She's hard to like because she exudes Mary Sue aura everywhere (especially when you consider that the author made her good at everything, but also modest to the point that she repeatedly doesn't do anything when people kick her down DX. It's very frustrating). The ML is also bit too much of a toolman. I thought he was cute at first, but then he suddenly turned his doting on to the max and it felt so weird and just out of nowhere. The way the other people around the FL interact with her is also awkward. I mean, to be fair. I thought the side characters here were pretty good. Not so exaggerated like in other novels, but they're just all so Awkward HDKDKDKDKD.Characters aside, there's also the plot that jumps constantly and has no comprehensible focus (the romance had the potential to be the thing tying everything together. But it should be able to all boil down to the following: the story is okay, pretty nice to read, but it's not for everyone. I think I could have read further? But it didn't work out this time. Her new parents loved and cared for her, and the first arc of the story focuses on her growing up under their protection. As for the rest, I didn’t get that far LOLOL.__________THOUGHTS: All in all, it’s not bad. It’s just a bit slow. I think if you enjoy slice of life, you would find the story more enjoyable than I did. But even up to when I stopped reading, no major turning points had happened. At least, it felt that way, since the turning points were aimed at the FL’s family rather than herself — she was just too passive because of her age and carefree personality (even when she did things, it was just small petty things that she had little stake in). ___________SUMMARY: The FL of this novel is an advanced Housekeeper Robot from thousands of years in the future. For some reason, her consciousness ended up being transferred into the body of Chen Yuan, who is a cannon fodder from a book. Her role in the story is to be the horrible aunt of the male protagonist (to be clear, the male protagonist is not the ML of this story but the protagonist of the original book.) The male protagonist's dad had died and his mother had runaway, leaving him under the care of his uncle (the ML), who married the original Chen Yuan. Anyway, the original's ending was not good because she was too desperate for success and was incredibly unkind to the entire family. When the Housekeeper Robot transmigrated, it was not long after Chen Yuan had married in, so she had opportunity to change somethings. Mostly, she improved the lives of the people that the male protagonist thought of as important little by little through various tricks thanks to her various advanced skills.

As mentioned by other reviewers, this novel isn't a Mary Sue novel despite the OP female lead. She doesn't have high ambitions, she works hard for the sole purpose of collecting energy (which she can get from the happiness of the people the male protagonist cares about). Of course, later on, she'll start to learn more about what it's like to be human, but at first, she's pretty cold. Very much lacking in emotion, especially when compared with the others. Which is quite interesting.

_____________THOUGHTS: All in all, not a bad read. I think it's strengths are also it's weaknesses though. Because the FL was given such a unique background, it made the story a little stale. After all, if a novel lacks a strong protagonist to lead the development, it will always feel like it's missing something. Of course, if you're reading this for the poor-to-rich or career aspect, the you shouldn't suffer a lot. I can see that the author probably intends to explore the characters more later too. So who knows, maybe my main gripe will no longer be an issue. Either way, I think the novel is not bad. If you're interested, definitely give it a shot! The MTL is quite readable (75% if translated on Google Translate) — some terms are a bit hit or Miss because of the special slang of the era, but it's not too bad. At least the names are pretty clear.

As for the rating … it's hard to say. I'll give it an official one when I reread a later. Tentatively, I think it's worth around 3.3/5. Maybe a little higher or lower depending on the later developments. <<less
