This is one of my favorite book from this author, probably one of those novels that I really wait each week for the update from... more>> the translator. First of all, I think that despite some coincidences that forces both leads to meet and encounter each other, this is still a heavily character driven book. I loved that both characters, even our 2nd ML and his parents have so much dimensions and layers in them. Now, I will talk about them, because why not lol. First, I think FL is in a way, makes so much sense. If you were to be orphaned at young age and was raised by some other family, whilst carrying lots and lots of pain inside you, I think you would've unconsciously seek for comfort and safety es well. She's not a strong, independent woman where she can hold the world in her palm or anything. She was very dependant on ML during their school years, and have always actively seek for his protection. However, she has experienced the pain of having nothing (and trust me, poverty is traumatizing), so she didn't want to sacrifice everything that she has right now for a man she loves. She's very scared, and it's understandable, given their stark different background and the way she's raised to be eternally grateful for the grace of living as a rich young lady. Throughout the story, I loved her transition from being unsure (as written in the description) where she doesn't want to choose between ML and her foster family (and the material comfort they gave her), to being one hundred percent sure that she'd rather live a content and simple life with ML (who have also worked his best to create the best living environment for her). This story tells that economic condition is not everything, but also can't be ignored, and I think that's one of the most realistic aspect of this novel. Now, to the ML. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the idea that man should provide etc etc, but in this case, I don't think ML's desire to let's say, provide and protect in a traditional way, is driven by any sort of patriarchal motive, but a trauma response from being abandoned by his parents in his childhood. He had always felt unwanted, unneeded, unnecessary, so when he mets FL for the first time, who actively seek for his protection and make him feel needed, he instantly got attached and fell in love with her. However, I loved that man is not a pushover for FL. When he was rejected and despised by her family, he pushed through and tried his best to match their expectations. When FL finally didn't choose him over her family, he decided to try his best to move on and not lower himself. And I think him being hurt by the fact that she didn't choose him was reasonable, especially if you knew the length he'd gone for her. In conclusion, I think this is a very beautiful story of two broken people who tried their best to love each other, added with some realistic representation of how external factors can indeed affect some love story. 5/5, loved it. <<less

It's realistic in the way it portrays the everyday, mundane life of office worker and how much it sucks living in a capitalist world. It also wins in how it tells the break up process of FL and her ex. Believe me, the story of their relationship at the beginning of the story until they unfortunately break up was one of the saddest, most heartwrenching process I have read in this website and I truly felt the pain in my heart when it happened. Overall, I think both of them are very good people who loved each other very much, but they just have different goal in life and I think that's OK. That's just life. On the other hand, this novel is also partly very unrealistic in the way it portrays the business world. I don't know much about business, but the conflict between both leads that made them break up just feels... weird, to me, lol. I understand what the author was trying to do, but the happenings there is just not logical and made the FL seems dumb and unlikeable. Even how the ML solves it are a bit eh for me. They definitely could've been done better. And, let me just say that I actually loved both leads. FL is amazingly pragmatic and realistic, but some of her actions and character went OOC too much from time to time and I can see that it's just for plot reason. ML was alright. He's one of the CEO male lead that doesn't feel childish to me and even mature. The way he fell in love was in character and honestly he shares so much of his idea of love with my own. The chemistry are also super great here. I think they're perfectly made for each other. A few things to note is that, just like the author's most works, you can see that whilst their books consist of realistic and great portrayal of women, I think they also hold a bit of mysoginistic value where men are more logical or stronger mentally whilst women are more emotional, and thus most FLs in their story and somewhat dependent on the men, idk but just my thoughts. Another note is that whilst the synopsis of the story made the love in this novel to be pragmatic and realistic, I think in the end, this novel's conclusion still endorses the idea of everlasting and true love, just like love stories in fairytales. Regardless, I think these are not enough icks for me. I loved, and loved, and enjoyed so much the times I was reading this novel for how much it makes me ponder during reading, the feelings it evoked, and the characters. Maybe I'm also a hopeless romantic at heart, lol. Thus, 5/5 is deserved. Loved it. <<less
