I've only read the first arc since I don't like waiting for chapters in the middle of one, but with just this... more>> one arc, the MC and ML show such love and care and affection and gah! for each other it's just so sweet and a little heartbreaking. No, they don't get together in the first arc but I don't want to spoil it so just read it and you'll get what I mean. This is the first world hopping series I've read where I genuinely felt true love between the protagonists, where the ML doesn't feel like the author's teenage fantasy of an ideal lover. <<less

But! Kinky smut aside, the MC totally does it for me. Like, all my motherly instincts scream at me to hug this poor little pup and just... run. Run far and run fast from all the bullsh*t happening around him. He's just so. Ugh. Precious.

Some of the devastating things he just casually states about his past, all blase like they happened to someone else, it hurts. And then there's how he's only looking for a good time with the stunning ML while ML is busy scratching his head at why this peasant he's deemed worthy to (temporarily) shower his time and affection on isn't clinging to his leg like a limpet like all the other poor men whose hearts he'd heartlessly broken. Refreshing as that may be, it's because our beloved MC's got such low self-esteem, he doesn't believe he could ever hold onto such a man and is, in fact, quite confused with the ML's persistence to stay in his life. Hilarity ensues. Shenanigans, most certainly. And love, hopefully eventually.

Guilty pleasure with all my favourite tropes. I'm slightly ashamed I enjoyed this so much due to the issues I had with some of the choices author made (the misogyny, that one weird r*pe line, portrayal of the relationship between the protagonists, etc.) but the weak to strong trope is reeeeeally up my alley. It's over a million words long and it was all read within two weeks. The world the author has built is just that engaging.... more>>
