The author does a good job with world-building, setting up plots which resolve themselves at the end of each volume and he does a masterful job at ending them. If you dislike it after reading to the end of volume 2 which ends at chapter 405, then stop. Otherwise, it only gets better. 

There are still some problems. There are a lot of (unnecessary) characters and povs. There is a wiki if you forget names.

Then filler. A lot of things get discussed which can become obsolete. This novel is big on resource management, with many chapters discussing food, stuff he needs and allies. Which might completely lose relevance in a few chapters.

I recommend this despite that because of the authors style.

Most chinese novels are generic, repeated tropes, situations and characters. I don't remember there being any such repetition in RI. Additionally, which in my opinion is the best part is the MC.

He is selfish, ruthless, rational. And he doesn't have a harem, or romance for that matter. Compared to the hundreds of mediocre chinese tr*sh that does the same shit, the same system over and over again. A completely new kind of cultivation is also shown in this novel and it has a few life lessons as well, with philosophical bits here and there.

If you don't want to read this despite my points. Then at the very least try the manhua (chinese manga.) <<less
