In the original version of this world, the ML and that reborn person would have stayed mated for life until the ML died. In this version of things, the reborn person decides that being with just one person was too boring LOL, and so breaks up with the ML. This inevitably pushes the ML into the Lazy!MC's orbit and changes the progression of things from then on.This is very much a poor-to-rich/weak-to-strong story with lots of farming and clan building elements. I was resistant to read this story for the longest time, but it ended up being my type of story! The pacing was perfect, the characters lovely and memorable, the setting fresh and unique, and the romance sweet! You might question your moral views a bit, cause the MC of this story doesn't have the most rounded 3 views (As a result of being from a zombie apocalypse), but don't take things too seriously! It's a fun and exciting work that I'm already looking forward to rereading in the future!(REREAD NOTE: 01/21/2023) I've just finished rereading, and my opinion of the novel is pretty much the same. I like it a lot and gave it a high rating because it has all the elements I like. It's a little silly, but there's lots of cooking, farming, clan-building, infrastructure building, etc., which are all things I enjoy in stories. If one were to compare this novel with a more serious work, you'll probably find that there are lots of things that are lacking. For example, the characters are a bit overly comical. But well, I really enjoyed the simplicity of ancient people. I think it was done pretty well, even if it was a bit exaggerated. The writing was also a little rough in some areas making certain parts look awkward. But it didn't harm the experience any, so I didn't mind it. The slow development from the initial chaos and depravity means that the beginning of the novel makes a lot of readers feel like this story is just wrong. At least, morally? I personally didn't mind it, but I was forwarned. To make sure that anyone who finds my review can start from the same starting point, I can say that you should pay attention to the Content Warnings provided by the author and translators, as well as the tags here on NovelUpdates! Aside from that... the story is wild, if... more>> you're easily triggered, it's probably best to avoid the novel altogether!

The main character of the novel is a 'scum' who was transmigrated by force by a "Reformation Guide". This Guide observes his actions and makes it impossible for him to act out his darker instincts. It rewards and punishes him based on a very strict criteria, making it almost impossible for him to survive in his new world, which is a world stuck in a primitive era -- where people ate people because of lack of food, where it is natural for the strong to ens*ave the weak, where there are many (many many many) creatures (both intelligent and non-intelligent) waiting to kill everyone as soon as they step out of safe areas.

The first arc of the story focuses on establishing the enmity between the MC and the ML. The ML picked up the MC in the beginning and ens*aved him. Naturally, the MC wasn't having it, but his current circumstances could only allow him to make small moves in the savage tribal environment that he had been dumped in. As the story progresses, the thinking of the people will naturally change. It's actually pretty satisfying if you stick through it! The characters are very complex and the worldbuilding is very well-done (in my opinion). So... 

Altogether! If you think you can handle the graphic and potentially triggering themes thrown your way (especially in the beginning), I think this novel is worth reading. It's long... but I didn't get bored even till the end! The only reason I dropped it before finishing was that I had work to do T.T and I'm not sure I'll be able to pick it back up after I finish. The reason I gave up last time was because I read horrible MTL and I was really shocked about where the novel was going lmao. It starts off as a zombie apocalypse novel, but it's not really about surviving against the apocalypse. At first it's all about psychology. The MC (Qi Jingchen) had been tortured and left to die as the last person on earth in his previous lifewhere there seemed to be no hope of the earth ever improving. As such, when he came to, all way back to the first day of the apocalypse, he decides to just ignore it all and die early. His psychology is not great, but fortunately! He has the ML to back him up. The ML was the person he was closest to in his last life, and after dying before the MC, his greatest regret was they never got together. So now that he has this chance, he ain't giving up~ALL IN ALL, it's quite deep. Some may say dark, but it's actually not as depressing as it seems, and the characters grow, so by the end of things, it feels very lighthearted. Of course, as I mentioned, don't expect this to be a simple apocalypse novel! There's a lot more to it~ I was against the twists at first, but I think the author handled it well altogether. I even wanted more at the end T.T so many characters were forgotten *sigh*For this read, my opinion of the novel jumped quite a bit! I give it a 4.70/5 for being able to make me read till the end for my second reread (it was initially 4.5/5 — which is probably more suitable, but I gave it plus points for being reread-able). 4.65/5!!! [Second Chance, Apocalypse: Natural Disasters, Mature, Slice of Life] Very different from a lot of the CN Apocalypse Novels out there, but I ended up liking it a lot! Admittedly, it gets a bit boring sometimes. The author has a tendency to dump information, making me tempted to drop the novel several times. BUT, I'm glad I persisted until the end (EXTRAS included, even!) I'm the type of reader that enjoys details, and there's no denying that this author is really good at delivering that. Furthermore, the survival aspect in this novel is really entertaining. The MC and ML have a space, so one can say that they're a bit passive (the cheat is... more>> used more of a convenience rather than tool, which makes the novel less thrilling than it could have been if the space never existed or if the space was revealed). However, looking at it from another perspective, the magical space and the rebirth aspect ensured that the story was not too dark. Without it, the story would have been incredibly tragic and sad. XD

SUMMARY: The MC, Mu Nan, lived over a year on an Earth suffering from severe natural disasters. Despite having a magical space for hoarding goods, his life during the apocalypse was not very good. And, because of his kind-heartedness, he even ended up getting stabbed, resulting in his life ending early. When he awakens two months before the first natural disaster official hit China, his first thought is to hoard goods and make contact with his non-biological older brother (the ML, Qin Huai), who had been separated from him five years before everything began due to family issues. When the two meet again, not long after the onslaught of the first natural disasters, they hold on tightly to each other and do their best to survive.

THOUGHTS: As mentioned, this novel can be considered very tragic if the main characters did not have the magical space and rebirth cheats. It's not like the popular Zombie CN Apocalypse novels that are commonly seen in danmei -- where the MCs have special abilities and a direct enemy to fight against. After all, there's no real way of fighting against natural disasters -- no matter how prepared you are, accidents will happen, and there's the element of human nature as well. ANYWAY, despite this rather glum plot, the story is actually pretty lighthearted. You get to see the daily life of the two main characters, who are a bit more selfish than your usual protagonists (they share when necessary, but they keep their secrets hidden tightly till the end.) You also get to see them make friends along the way, some of whom will stay, others will leave.

The author, despite their tendency to info-dump everywhere xD, is pretty good at keeping things interesting. Even the most mundane things are pretty fascinating in my opinion (though that may be because I enjoy novels with survival, infrastructure-building, farming, hoarding, etc. LOL). I also like the fact that the author doesn't forget character development throughout all this. Authors who write in this genre tend to overfocus on the plot and forget about the characters. And, while the character plot here is nothing too impressive or complex, it's still pretty satisfying and realistic. At the very least, the author does a good job establing the characters -- enough that you can stay interested in their future indefinitely.

ALL in all, a good read! The TL is currently incomplete but the MTL is highly comprehensible -- even the names are uniquely good. The author's writing style is very straightforward, so despite the long text, everything is very readable (at least 85-90%).

I enjoy Zombie Apocalypse novels a lot and got kind of used to them. So, this natural disaster-type apocalypse was really uncomfortable at first. If I had to describe it shortly, it would be fantasy infrastructure! The protagonist, Xu Sili, is an singer who is terminally ill. He doesn't have long to live. And so, before his death, he decided to invest all of his property into the development of an advanced holographic game. In exchange, the game developers agreed to give him a new 'life' by making him an NPC. As for the ML! That is, that his favorite game character, Si Sheng, from a mobile card game app (where players raise card characters as the story progresses) is brought into the game with him.

The novel starts off a bit slow. The MC and ML are seemingly at opposite sides from the very beginning, but that doesn't last long. Though various misunderstandings and lack of communication causes much drama between the two and extends the romance development a bit - making a proper slow burn!

Ah, but back to the description: Fantasy Instructure. LOLOL. As the Emperor of this new game world, the MC has to prepare for many things. But, most importantly, it's the participation of the "Players" from the real world. He has to prep their beginner 'start village' planet into something that the Players will be hesitant to leave behind -- which prompts lots of infrastructure development!

I love that kind of thing, but I understand that there may be some people who don't agree and would prefer a faster, action-centric fantasy novel. There is a little bit of action here, but the story is still mostly focused on the infrastructure development! That being the case, I still recommend the novel for the setting and the worldbuilding! It's quite unique~ I'm currently working on a sci-fi original work with similar settings, so this proved to be very inspiring for me. For that reason, I may be a bit biased, but I consider this a fave!

IMPORTANT NOTE: The TL is incomplete but the MTL is approximately 75% readable. The names are a bit annoying (since their Western Names translated to Chinese and then translated back to English DX) but once you get the gist of them, the rest of the text is easy enough to understand. Usually, MTL makes me give up after 100-200 or so chapters, but I persisted to the end this time! <<less

Only, the things transported are different. Here, the MC transports ancient Chinese culture, food culture, and farming know-how by building a game focused on agriculture.It's surprisingly fun. You get to see the MC updating the game slowly — which is the focus of the story. As for the other things. It's not as good. The characters are mostly simple. At least, they don't go through tempering or extreme character development. They just live their life smoothly. Without any real conflicts or growth. As for romance … DX don't expect too much!! The romance here is sooooo basic that it pretty much has no reason to exist. The falling in love step is skipped directly or, at least, is not given enough development to be very realistic. It always feels like it came out of nowhere, so I didn't care much about it.My real goal in reading this till the end is seeing the completed version of the game — which was not bad. Kinda wish there was more game-building content, even, since there were a couple of loose ends here and there. And it seems like the game has a lot of room for growth. Summary: The MC (Wei Xuan) goes back in time after living in a world overrun by zombies for three years. In that life, he had been persecuted and chased by researchers who wanted to study the special ability that made him 'invisible' to zombies. In this life, he awakens on the day the apocalypse began, and he had only one goal in mind: To live in the zombie-infested city with the half-zombie ML (Du Hang).

The story is very slow-paced and it goes into detail on the various activities that the MC performs in order to live a relatable stable life in the apocalypse. With his special physique, things are of course a lot easier on him, especially with his toolman zombie boyfriend LMFAO. If you don't like slow-paced stories, this novel may be a bit boring to you after a while, but there's no issue whatsoever with skimming the parts the filler parts, since most of those are excessive details anyway. All in all, I highly recommend this novel! The TL at CG is good and the MTL is also quite good, so there's no reason to hesitate on reading it! <<less

Most of the chapters is like reading a report rather than reading a novel, which makes it really boring. The pacing was better in the beginning, but once you get past the close character development and such, the pacing goes super speed and almost never slows down again T.T Still! I did like this novel quite a bit regardless, since it's an infrastructure or "kingdom"-building novel. The main focus of most of the story is the MC creating a place for himself in both worlds, which takes lots of work and lots of money he he. If you're into that, then this is not a bad read! Might be best to wait for the TL tho. The MTL for this is pretty bad. Even when I plugged the raw into Google translate, the result wasn't all that good (75-80% readable).As for my rating, previously it was ambiguously between 4-4.49/5 stars. Now I can say with confidence that it's probably more like 3.9 stars out of five. SUMMARY:

Historical (Ancient China) Fantasy. The MC, Qin Mian, transmigrates into a newly married boy with the same name as himself. This boy was pitted by a fortune teller and forced to marry the ignored and ab*sed eldest son of the Lei family (aka the ML, Lei Tie!). Not long after transmigrating, MC decides that the best thing to do is to separate from the ML's troublesome family. Fortunately, his new husband likes to pamper his wife, and so the progress is relatively smooth.

The first few arcs of the novel is slice of life with strong "Get Rich" vibes. The MC takes advantage of modern knowledge and his golden finger (a magical space) to get rich ASAP. There's some family drama interspersed along the way, of course. After a while, there's the subject of raising a family, cultivation, life in the capital city, and a short trip to modern times.

Definitely has its flaws, but if you're interested in a Poor-to-Rich novel set in Ancient China (one that doesn't hesitate to give the MC some pretty OP golden fingers), then this is not a bad read for you. I suggest at least reading it once! <<less

Here, the MC... more>> is the Demon King of the lower-realm. The main setting is Western Fantasy, so there are mages, paladins, barbs, demons, etc. along with regular humans. When the MC was dropped into the role of demon king, it's without any of the original's memories. Oh, and the lower realm is also facing a large debt after losing a war against the Church and the Human Empires. Fortunately, the MC has a golden finger! This golden finger is his cellphone, which can be recharged and is always connected to the internet -- giving the MC direct access to the modern world's technologies and knowledge.Ahhhh I love this kind of worldbuilding novel~ And this one is fun because it takes lots of culture and knowledge from all over the world. To begin with, there are lots of movie and anime references (as well as novel references), and the author is always throwing out shocking, obscure facts by way of humorous exposition (the MC is very humorous in general). The only downside is that the development of characters and relationships is not a focus. There are great characters in the novels -- all of whom play their own roles sooner or later -- but they're most self-aware than most, so they don't have to go through too much polishing. The MC is also mainly focused on developing the lower realms with modern culture, so the perspective is definitely skewed.Overall, I recommend this novel if you're interested in infrastructure or poor-to-rich development, as I like to call it. The translation is of good quality, so there's no reason not to read it! It's also almost complete too (which is why I started reading it in the first place, hehe.)(Update: 12/26/2022) I reread the first 80 chapters and then skipped to where I was before (c182). [Transmigration, Primitive Times, Fantasy, Infrastructure, Slice of Life] This is another one of those novels that I inexplicably found enjoyable~ Despite the fact that it embodies quite a few of my pet peeves for story writing lmao. As a book focused on infrastructure, the characters that are introduced (including the MC and ML) are not as important as the progression of the community as a whole. It all starts with the MC being sent into a primitive environment where people still group together as tribes -- focusing on hunting and gathering rather than farming and breeding. He was given a mission by a God to create infrastructure and was given the ability to do... more>> so via a magical space filled with items from his time period.

After this semi-slow introduction, the story starts to speed up incrementally to show how the originally small group of people create an entire city for themselves. This is the main focus of the story~ I like such stories, but others may not find it as enjoyable, especially since the romance and other plot is pretty negligible. It's pretty much grinding and farming 100% of the time.

EXTRA NOTES: On the matter of the TL and MTL, the TL is readable and the MTL semi-readable (I would say... 75-80%?) The issue is mainly on names and pronouns, so pretty basic stuff. <<less

3.55/5!!! [Transmigration, Poor-to-Rich, Farming, Magical Space] Not a bad read for someone who enjoys farming stories! I originally hesitated to read this because the TL was unfinished, and it was only now that I remembered to get back to it. Have to say, I really shouldn't have hesitated XD Although some of the terms are confusing in MTL (e.g., mother = grandma, get = little brother, etc. etc.) once you get a handle of it, the MTL is at least 75% readable (better than most, at least. So, if you're hesitating because of the same reason as me, I say give it a shot!... more>>

SUMMARY:

This novel plays out very much like your typical 'transmigrating to ancient times to farm and make money' CN novels. But it's also unique in some areas. For example, whilst the transmigrating MC, Tang Chunming, comes back with a space golden finger on his person, the original owner of the body had not only been previously married, but also had a young child and an unborn baby in his stomach. XD I mean, one can say that doesn't matter, but in those times, it mattered quite a bit! In most other novels, the story starts with the MC being forced into marriage. Here, the MC is just recently widowed, which changes things a bit. Thankfully, the MC is not your typical 'soft-shou-MC'. He's very strong-willed and he knows how to fight for a peaceful life. And so, not only does he manage to protect the original owner's children, but he also finds himself a second husband -- the ML, who is a general that just came back from the war.

THOUGHTS:

Because most of what I read was in MTL, I don't dare to write my usual in-depth review. However, when it comes to the usual criteria, I can still share a bit. For example, I thought that the characters of this novel were pretty good. You still had your typical cannon fodders that were completely unrealistic to provide good face-slapping segments. But, aside from them, the side characters were very simple and easy to like. The main characters also were not your usual MC and ML, which was interesting.

As for the setting, this novel is set in a world where there is no such thing as women, only Gers. Gers, that can give birth to children but had the same body (externally) as a man. The main characters don't touch the more complicated matters in the capital all that much, so the focus is on the simple rural life. The MC doesn't hesitate to improve his family's living conditions by making money, but he's not ambitious or greedy, so he shares blessings with everyone. ALL in all, if you enjoy poor-to-rich developments and farming novels (which I happen to do), this is definitely not a bad one to invest some time in.

I was initially hesitant about it because the reviews looked like they were half-positive and half-negative. But I guess that worked out in my favor too? Anyway, let me explain... The MC of this novel transmigrates in a novel as the 6yo Little Earl of a small territory in the Western Kingdom (the novel is historically set in the Middle Ages). He's equipped with a SYSTEM that gives him access to modern and futuristic technology so that he can deviate from the intended plot of the novel.... more>> If he doesn't, he runs the risk of getting the same bad end as the original Earl, who died as canon fodder because he dared to chase after the heroine's main lead.

Ironically, while this novel satirizes the fact that the original protagonist of the novel was a Mary Sue, the MC of this novel ends up being a bit of a Gary Sue himself. Because of the SYSTEM, he is able to accomplish practically anything, and with his beauty and skills, he manages to wrangle a number of male leads who inexplicably fall in love with him along the way. Anyway, because I was pre-warned about this OP-ness and the poor romantic development, I didn't mind it so much and just focused on the way the MC slowly advanced the development of his territory with modern technology and practices. I enjoy that kind of thing~ Though I understand some people may not people the same LOL.

The TL is a little bit difficult to understand at times, but its quality is pretty stable. I would definitely have preferred to read it completed, but since it's not, I ended up going for the MTL -- which actually was not bad. The mix-up with the names (translation of Western Names written in Chinese back to English is... well >.< not good) kind of confuses things, but the general text is about 80% readable (definitely better than most novels.) <<less

I admit that it's very flawed, especially in terms of character development. But as a plot-driven work, it worked out just fine. All I can say is ... don't expect too much from the characters XD. ________SUMMARY: The initial premise of this novel is similar to "Back to the Apocalypse". The MC is reborn a couple of months prior to the apocalypse to collect supplies and partner up with the ML. After which, there's a bit of adventuring as they gather comrades and move towards their chosen safe base. Then, it's all infrastructure! As for detailed plot, although the MC does suffer quite a lot in his first life, outside of mentioning it a couple of times, there's no real progress there. It's just there. So, don't expect any face-slapping or revenge plots XD. No healing either. 

________THOUGHTS: I would be lying if I said that this is a good work lolol. The reason why I have a high impression on it is purely based on personal preferences. That is ... if I were to rate this with my usual criteria (characters, romance, setting, and plot-development), it wouldn't be able to measure up at all XD. That being the case, I decided to avoid doing a detailed review for the time being. All I can say for now is that if you like infrastructure novels, then you'll like it. If you don't, then you won't. XD The MC of this novel can be said to be very Gary Stue, whilst the ML is non-existent (I had high expectations based on his first few appearances, but ..... he slowly began to be more and more superfluous. I mean, if he and the MC actually, I dunno, communicated, maybe there would be no reason for me to rate it so lowly XD. All they do in the story is cuddle. I don't think they have chemistry at all. And it really doesn't make sense that the ML is the leader when most of the time, all he does is act as the MC's vehicle (you'll know what I mean when you read it XD).

ANYWAY ... so yeah, my impression of the characters and romantic plot is definitely not high. I'm saying it now so that you don't have any high expectations hehh. As for the MTL (I read this after translating the raws through Google Translate), it's pretty good! Some names are messed up (most prominently: Han Ya, who is translated as Hana or Asiana XD There's also Wen Le, who is referred to as Young Master or Wen Shao), gender pronouns are also messed up (as per usual), but altogether not bad. The author's writing style is relatively straightforward. So the readability is high (around 80-85%, which is very good for MTL). For the time being, I've decided to give this novel a 3.5/5 rating. Again, if it were based on my usual criteria, this would be A LOT lower. But, adding 'personal enjoyment' to my score, this is what I got hehe.  <<less

This focuses more on the latter, you know, slowly building up a city that can fight against the apocalypse. BUT!!! Not in the usual way. It’s truly a mysterious, black-box system that works very similarly to those popular infrastructure games XD. The quality of the story itself can only be said to be subpar, the characters aren’t all that interesting and the drama is petty at best. SUMMARY: The MC of this story, Song Xingcheng, wakes up on the day of the apocalypse with a head full of novel content. According to this novel content, he was bound to be used and abandoned by the guy that he had a crush on. Of course, he wants nothing to do with any of it. He decides to adjust himself based on the mistakes he made in his dream. Which starts with exploring his cheat first (a game panel that enables him to slowly build and upgrade a city) and then teams up with the ML (He Qiashen), who incidentally also woke up with a cheat and novel content on the first day of the apocalypse. Working together, the two slowly build a city that can act as a reprieve for the people of their country.

THOUGHTS: Although fun, the story is quite flawed. The MC’s cheat was too cheat-y. To the point that it restricted the future of humans rather than helped it. I thought it was cool at first, but more and more, it became evident that it blocked the progress of humans. (Actually, this reminds me of another novel, a BG one called “Apocalypse Lord”, that one had the MC as a City Lord as well. I prefer that one though because the setting made more sense. It was an actual game in the end, so the city that was built without sustainability in mind was logical. As for here, I had to work hard to ignore it so that I can enjoy infrastructure T.T.) My recommendation, if you’re going to read this, try to not to have expectations XD. Just go into it believing it’s all a game. That way, the process may be a little smoother.

BUT OK. Enough about the cheat, there are the characters as well. TBH, I don’t like the MC that much. The ML was fine, but he was also a bit boring. Their romance was also a bit bland since the ML was pretty much all in from the beginning. So yah. Don’t read this thinking that the characters or the romance will make up for the world settings being flawed LOLOL. By saying all this, I make the story sound like it’s very bad. But the truth of the matter is, I enjoyed it quite a bit! I looooove infrastructure stories. And no matter how flawed they get, I can’t help but feel satisfied reading them. If you’re the same, then there should be no problem with trying out this story. If not, then I suggest you stay far away pfft! As for my rating, the TL is currently unfinished and I read it mostly in MTL. Usually, I won’t give a rating but this time, the MTL was surprisingly readable (80-85%). So my official rating is …. 3.44/5!!! Looks low. That’s because, content-wise, this is really a problematic story XD. Most of the points are based on personal enjoyment. <<less

The MC gets another chance at life and is reborn ten years into the past, which was a couple of months before the Zombie Apocalypse began. He took this chance to prepare a place for him to live within the boundaries of one of the safest City Zones during the End Times, hoping to create a sustainable living environment for himself and the people around him (this includes the self-aware pe*vert that is the ML, whose obsession over the MC demands that he be around him at all times.)... more>>

The story starts off slow and steady. The focus isn't really on surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. At least, not in the usual sense -- with all the zombie killing and human conflicts. Here, the main issue to take care of is how to make sure that everyone is living well within the walls while zombies are roaming around outside. This is partly made possible because the zombies here don't have abilities like the zombies in most CN Zombie Apocalypse Novels. There are mutations in humans, animals, and plants, but they're rare and not highlighted.

I actually like these kinds of novels~ Some people might dislike, or even find infrastructure novels boring, but I really like them! If you're the same, then I highly recommend checking out this novel!

NOTES: By the way, the TL, which is currently incomplete, is pretty good! But, the MTL is not bad either (at least 80-85% readable, which is wayyy better than most), so there's no reason not to give it a try! Also, this novel contains some spicy scenes that are pretty explicit! So, keep that in mind. <<less

I ended up not finishing the novel cause I could tell that the ending would be rushed and didn’t want to be disappointed LOL. My current opinion is that the novel is a good read if you’re interested in novels with “game elements” and “primitive/tribal” environments.Theres is a focus in the romance here as well, though it’s admittedly a little clumsy (complete with the typical straight-guy!shou and the silent-and-stoic!gong.) I wish there was more details about the game elements and the infrastructure T.T as it is, I only got hints of that. Though that may also be the fault of the MTL. The TL quality is good but the MTL is only 65-70% readable. If I had to give this a rating now... I would give it somewhere between 3.12-3.3 out of 5 rating. Either way, it would be a 3-Star Novel for me. I’m not doing a full review because a large chunk of the story was read in MTL, and I can’t say for sure whether my impression is wrong based on misunderstandings T.T <<less

???/5!!! [Transmigration, Historical: Primitive Era, Slice of Life, Poor-to-Rich] Not bad. The MTL was a bit hard to digest so I gave up in the end, but it was interesting in its own way. The premise of the story is that a modern man is sent back into a fantasy primitive era. Just when he thought his life would end, he is discovered by a small tribe that live in the forest and mistaken as a female. From then on, he lives with this tribe. And despite some misunderstandings with the ML (the person who ended up claiming the "female" as his mate), he begins to accept this life and proceeds to improve it with... more>> his knowledge. 

This is primarily slice of life. Though there is a poor-to-rich feel to it as the MC improved the tribe's standards of living little by little. I've been on a roll with primitive era Danmei novels and I found this one quite unique because the MC didn't have the usual golden finger, though he's pretty unique with his medical skills and knowledge in pretty much anything LOLOL (his luck is pretty good too. Everything he ends up needing can be found one way or another). I think it's definitely worth the read if you like this slow-paced kind of story, though I recommend waiting for the TL cause the MTL is quite difficult to read. For that reason, I chose not to give this an official rating. Though my preliminary one would be around 3.3-3.5 out of 5 stars. <<less

Unfortunately, I was still new to Danmei back then and had a difficult time swallowing the edited MTL. I got a lot farther this time, but I really wasn’t expecting the novel to be so slow-paced! The main premise of the novel follows the typical, MC time travels to the Primitive Era and is picked up by the ML. This novel is a slice of life novel through and through. I was expecting there to be more clan building and infrastructure building. But the slow pacing makes it so the main focus is on the day to day living instead. So you get a lot of primitive era cooking, house building, hunting, etc. This is not what I was looking for specifically, but I enjoyed it quite a bit regardless. It’s good for a casual read through.

I didn’t end up finishing it cause I wanted to wait for the more Betwixted TL chapters T.T The edited MTL at idleturtle is not bad either though! It’s readable, but the slow pacing makes it a little difficult in the long term. I decided fo leave this unrated for now because I only read about half. I’ll write a full review next time! The only reason I didn't finish reading was because the MTL became more and more intolerable after a bunch of characters and new tribes were introduced T.T MTL and Chinese Nouns are not very friendly with each other... The premise of this novel is similar to the usual "Transmigrate into the Primitive Era to Build Infrastructure." He starts by... more>> improving his own life and the lives of the unrecognized children in a small tribe, and slowly, but surely, make bigger and broader actions after becoming entangled with the mysterious past of the original owner of his new body. 

If you're looking for romance, this is not the novel to look for it! The ML is mostly just... there? The main focus of the novel is infrastructure, childcare, andddd external conflicts (tribes vs tribes, etc.) The first arc is very close to simple pastoral living. Then we get to bigger clan building in the second arc and finally kingdom building in the last arc (with a focus on education in a tribal community.)

I enjoyed the first two arcs most, this latest arc with the students and the war doesn't interest me as much. Still, I consider it an enjoyable read overall! Even if the quality may not be the best? For those interested in trying it out, the MTL is around 70% readable in the first two arcs. The further you go, the more difficult it is to read. I think, around the 80s-90s, it it began to drop from 65% readable to 60% readable. <<less

[Transmigration, Historical (Ancient China), Wars, Kingdom-Building] I really like this novel, but while the MTL is readable, I would prefer to wait till the CG TL is done T.T They did very well for this one! It's really a great novel if you're interested in learning a little something something. Most of what happens in the story appears to be consistent with what happened at the time -- though, of course, the appearance of the MC with his golden finger (modern knowledge) shook things up after a while (and it did take a while, because the MC was really focused more on protecting his people at first and had no true ambition when it... more>> came to taking down the throne and becoming emperor).

This novel mixes kingdom-building, infrastructure-building, political intrigue, and action. The romance is mostly a side thing, though it's great if you're looking for internal conflicts (the ML's development is really bitter-sweet to watch!! T.T) since the MC starts off as very straight.

I wouldn't recommend this novel if you're not interested in history since there are a lot of chapters spent recounting history from the views of the people at the time. There's another novel very similar to this one when it comes to style. I think it was called... "Doing Charity in the Ming Dynasty??" only that one was more fast-paced. The two are similar because they're plot-driven. Though I prefer the "Royal Road" more because it spends more time on the MC and ML~ It's also a little bit slower paced -- which is good for someone like me who prefers long novels! If you're the opposite, you can check out the charity in the ming dynasty novel instead!

For now, I won't be writing a full review because not even half was translated and I skimmed through most of the MTL-ed chapters I ended up reading. My opinion of the novel is already pretty high though! I think, if I were to give it a rating, it would be between 4-5 stars! <<less

However, if you're like me and you enjoy the aforementioned tropes, then this is something that can be read when you have free time. The only reason I stopped reading is that I'm antsy for something a little more lively. Plus, the MTL, while at least 70% readable, is still a bit dizzying. There are so many name errors (The MC is called Li Feng, the ML Li, and the original owner Feng. The author changes it later, but still, I kept seeing them call the ML Li Feng, and the MC Li, etc., etc.)

SUMMARY:

The MC, Li Feng, is a journalist that ends up transmigrating after being struck by lightning. When he came to, he was in the process of giving birth (as a male XD), but he doesn't really register this. The first thing he registers upon waking up later is that he has been transmigrated into a primitive era. And, unlike other primitive-era novels, where the characters are either beastkin or the like, the humans here cannot be any more normal. As such, the MC doesn't have any other golden finger outside of the modern knowledge he brought with him upon transmigration. As for the ML, he was already together with the original owner before the MC transmigrated, and their relationship wasn't bad. It's just, I guess, in ancient times, people didn't really care much for their partners. Or, at least, not to the point that they noticed them changing so significantly lol.

THOUGHTS:

Outside of what I mentioned in the beginning, the story has a lot of other small issues. When it comes down to it, it's a self-indulgent slice of life novel (similar to the other low-quality ancient china farming novels that you see where the development is mainly on making money or infrastructure-building -- the characters are secondary and it's not the most realistic.) Because of this, I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you just happen to be interested in such tropes. I happen to be that kind of person, so I plan to come back to reread it later lolol XD low-quality or whatnot. It's readable and to my taste, so why not? AH, but I won't be rating this until I reread it later. <<less
