Also, I love characters. They don't feel like 2d—they're alive. Be it the main characters, side characters, or just extras—everyone has a story and emotions. Even the villains, you can't make yourself hate them 'cause you understand how they feel, you know why they are and became like that. They are relatable. 

What I can comment on about this novel is how the author did SYL dirty. I hope the author let us see how he became a villain, like what happened to him when he wasn't in the capital. I would love to have a POV of SYL. Also, I hope we can see the flower gang bond. They have very little interaction.  <<less

This is slow-paced, and more on world-building, so people might find this boring. The MC is like the FL of ETT, smart but lazy (the author seems to like this trait so much). This is not the type of novel that is full of schemes, just the usual style of the author. I love the relationship between the empress dowager and the emperor, especially since the emperor is adopted they would be wary and suspicious of each other, worrying that the other would snatch the power. So, when the empress dowager made her stance in the beginning that she wouldn't interfere in court matters, I was relieved, I knew this would be a light read. 

I'm just sad about the FL's eldest brother and sister-in-law. They loved each other but she (Chen shi) died with their unborn child. Also, I am very confused about their age. I remember the FL was 10 when the previous emperor died, then just a few chapters she was 12, then it was her coming-of-age. I am confused. Did I miss some chapters?  <<less

This is a light read. The novel is about a girl who transmigrated into the Great Wei's imperial harem. She was a small concubine and was determined to live a lazy life but her peace was broken when the emperor saw her and repeatedly favored her. She was a little naive and I'd say s*upid, so the emperor always shielded and protected her. 

Read this if you want to take a break from the heavy politics and schemes of the imperial family.  <<less

This is one is good too. The FL was the first wife of the MLs son and when she died she found out that she was inside a novel (???). She found out that her shu sister was a 26(?) year old woman who transmigrated into the body of a child, and has a protagonist halo. When she woke up, she found out that she transmigrated. Then, she went to the capital and became the second wife of the ML. Although she made things difficult with her son-in-law (her previous husband) and daughter-in-law (her shu sister), she really didn't scheme against them. ... more>>

I saw on a review say that they felt the FL was immature, but I don't think so. The FL was 17-18 while the ML was in his 30s, with this huge age difference of course you'll feel the FL was immature. 

There is another review where they asked if she went back in time, no, when the FL died, she transmigrated into the body of the daughter of Yan Wang's (ML) subordinate. So, when she became the MLs 2nd wife, she (her soul??) was also the first wife of the MLs son, now his stepson. I don't know if I explained it well.  <<less

This one is pretty realistic, unlike other novels wherein since the FL transmigrated and has a protagonist halo the ML would suddenly favor her and won't touch other women. No, he's the emperor. He wouldn't restrain himself just because of 'love'. 

This novel also has no deep schemes. It's a light read. This novel also gives us readers the women in the harem's view of love, especially the ones who entered the harem early, they long lost hope for love. 

I love the ending. I don't want them to fall in love with each other. This ending is just right.  <<less

Some may dislike this novel because of the FL's dumb nature. Yes, she's basically dumb. She dares to scheme and is not afraid that people will find out. But, this is actually the reason why I love this. I like the comedic relief. I love it when TSS schemes then hit the wall. What's even funnier was both the ML and the adoptive son would always say, "It's not her" when people say she was the culprit because they knew she was dumb. She's not capable to lay an intricate scheme. I also love the ML and FLs relationship especially when they got married, the ML basically has no bottom line. 

All in all, this is a good read. If you're looking for a novel to pass the time, I suggest you read this one.  <<less

This is not reincarnation or transmigration. This is a one-shot story about the emperor and his noble consort swapping souls after they both fell into the water. After they both woke up, the noble consort (emperor's soul), because of untimely treatment coupled with the harem's jealousy, it was inevitable that she was weak and dying when the emperor (noble consort's soul) finally woke up and visited her. This is an okay read. Peaceful palace novel, with no heavy schemes and political intrigue, and the ML isn't a prince which makes it somewhat different. There are glaring loopholes tho but it's still bearable. It's just confusing because of transmigrated and reincarnated characters popping out of nowhere. I love the character's shortcomings. Given that the FL is a descendant of a literary giant, I understand why she died in her past life. She came from a scholarly family and was taught Confucianism since young, so it's already impressive that she bowed her head and was willing to bend her back, despite her upright and stubborn nature, back when she was still Marquis Zhenbei Madam just to support her maternal family. The emperor has a tragic backstory. He didn't receive any teachings and was casually thrown into the pack of wolves by his father when he was a child and was later brought to the war to conquer lands. ... more>>

Given the fact that the country just experienced war and is in urgent need of talent to stabilize the country, so almost half of the novel is all about literary, literary war, debate, Confucianism, Legalism, etc. (I don't know what they are called — philosophy???). 

You might find this boring if you don't have the patience or the mind to understand, but you can give this a try to pass the time, just skip those sophisticated words.  <<less
