For recommending female protagonists that don't immediately lower their IQ and EQ when a (ML) man enters the picture. Strong is also used somewhat lightly. This recommendation list will be more geared towards female leads who's actions/words are pivotal in the story. Due to the landscape of light novels with female protagonists, this list will not be completely romance free, but stories recommended will either be slow romance or the story itself will not pivot around the male lead's actions/story.

This is an excellent novel about a strong female protagonist going through her life, teaching her junior sister, defeating evil, and idly pondering how it's possible for her to become the her in her dreams. I really enjoyed it. The "original FL" in the script, rather than an antagonist, becomes a beloved junior sister, playing a bigger role than the "original ML", who... doesn't become a villain, but just a character resigned to his fate and a little exasperated every time he's pushed to the forefront to "deal with his fiance". I ended up reading the novel and really enjoyed the world building! It reminds me of The Earth is Online's games. It's a novel I would definitely recommend others read if they enjoy a strong FL. However, not entirely sure it belongs here because... there is romance. It is not overdone, so it's a subplot, but while her IQ/EQ never goes down and she's a strong female character, she definitely develops a heavy physical and emotional dependence/attachment with the ML due to her disability and past (although it doesn't necessarily affect her decision making). /ponder/... more>>
