I'd say that the depression shown in this novel is rather accurate. The protagonist, Violet, has experienced both mental and physical ab*se from her family. I can relate to her situation and understand her suffering a little. She copes through painting pictures, which was also her previous life's hobby as well as her current one, and has isolated herself within an annex far away from her family's main house. -MC is a reincarnator; she died in her previous life in the modern world, and rebirthed into the body of a ducal lady. Her previous life is not irrelevant like other shoujo fantasy reincarnation/transmigration stories; it explains her love for painting and why she decided to paint as a past time in her current life.

-Violet's familial situation is presented realistically. The story dictates how Violet's family's treatment of her deteriorated over time in a realistic manner with the arrival of Violet's cousin Aileen. Her family does not immediately change their attitude when Violet isolates herself/changes her behavior (a personal pet peeve of mine in shoujo fantasy ab*sed fl stories). Also, when one of her older brothers realizes his mistakes and tries to atone, Violet does not immediately forgive him and is extremely cold. The process of forgiveness is also put realistically, which I appreciate a lot.

-The characters feel human with their relationships with each other. The author also knows how to make you feel certain emotions within certain chapters. Roen's character development with treating his younger sister better and understanding her personal wishes as well was also much appreciated by me, too.
