It is a theme in many novels. In almost every novel, ML starts out as a Scum*! But there are different types of scum* ... some more acceptable (in context), others intolerable and unforgivable!

They are described as handsome, cold, dominating, powerful, intelligent, ambitious, arrogant, proud, heartless ... However, ironically, they can be easily deceived by misunderstandings, evil suspicions and "the pitiful white lotus"...  and end up mistreating, harming, hurting, abusing, poisoning or torturing FL unfairly. ლಠ益ಠ)ლ

Later, when the truth is revealed, they regret everything they have done, discover that they love FL and cannot live without her! They change to be the best male for FL! Humpf! But it is so late ... hahaha a joke! t(=n=)

We like to see them suffering, begging, crawling ... but it is never enough! Or, unfortunately, they don't even suffer from anything, they don't beg for anything but they keep the girl in the end! (ಠ ∩ಠ)
