These novels are a bit deranged, but in a very realistic sense. The main CP has either believable coping mechanisms, or mental illnesses based on their past. There isn't an ML or MC who was ab*sed that got revenge "all according to plan" with no mental issues (basically the MC or ML pays a price from the beginning and only gets their just rewards after fighting tooth and nail for it). There is fluff but its an angsty fluff and a oof-ouch-pain feeling when they need to support each other.
