when i tell u that not even 5 chapters in i was laughing my a** off. i have an exam in 12h but do i care? nope i finished the whole thing. the chracters are so fun and there doesnt seem to be an obvious bias like in many bl novels where they keep hating on women/certain groups of people or become uber patriotic. everyone gets equally roasted. Don't go in expecting anything realistic though cause the premise of the world itself is literally that it's a mashup of various dog blood novels. I really did enjoy most of the "plot" (arguable whether it can be called that tbh but the ending ties it all up) but in terms of actual content, it does get a bit old in the middle cause it's just a lot of drama which, though diff every time, everyone's reactions are pretty much the same to the various drama. also, the way things are exposed is pretty repetitive so if I reread I won't read those parts. the drama that directly involves the family are my favourite parts and also the filming for the show, likely cause the cast is relatively constant so we actually have time to get attached to some of the characters. rare that the main romance is the last thing I talk about but that's exactly how it felt in the novel too. while were introduced pretty early we don't really see much progression throughout but when it does start heating up it's not like random or too sudden it's a progression but pretty subtle since the story is more focused on its "plots". but by gosh the ml is freaking adorable (mc too) but i always like to see ppl taking a break from the usual stoic, monosyllabic, face paralysis gong and instead have a gong that actually reacts intensly to mc while also being the cutest human alive. that being said i thing shen chong is my fave side character, iykyk hes just so pure hehe.

the ending tho... wow and i havent read the side stories yet but imma do that once im free again

lastly, i saw lots of comments talking about how the novel addressed what seemed like an ED of one of the side characters and while i don't think I'm the best person to talk about this, i do agree that it couldve been handled in a much more sensitive way even if it did not jump out as me as an ED. especially with the parts of the netizens reacting to the situation being exposed having a larger focus on "wasting food" rather than the possible health issues the character might have. the tone of the story in general is that we are supposed to laugh at all the things happening around and we should be enthusiastic about "eating other people's melons" which like i said earlier can get pretty tiring and seem a bit insensitive at times but its not too big of a turn off. <<less
