For the first half of the novel, I'd rate it a 4.7/5. It's really well written, and the intrigue and mysteries surrounding the actions of the characters are actually interesting to delve into. Their motivations are reasonable and heart wrenching, they fight and act like they actually have something to lose/they will have real consequences, and the blossoming relationship between the protagonist and her love interest is lovely.

Personally, the other half of the story is where things get a little more... muddled. The plot hooks are there! Matter of fact, the plot hooks get better in the second half! But it really seems like the author just had too much to work with. Too many characters, too many unresolved schemes, too much tension between certain characters that it all came crashing down in the end.  

Regardless, this novel is still one of the best WLW novels you'll find in this site. Enjoy it to the end and have fun, but don't forget that this IS a webnovel. The author probably had to inflate the word count for the fans and all that. (Honestly? This is a common theme you can see in all of the other works by this author. Very well written early and middle halves of the story, but quickly makes you go "huh, what the f*ck just happened? Why did *insert character here* do that? Why did *absurd plot point that really shouldn't be there and breaks your immersion* get written here?". Still really f*cking good tho. I rate this one a whole 5/5 up till THAT arc (readers you know which one *cough cough it involves a child cough cough its late game cough cough it really was just. Sigh. Look. You need to read the novel to understand my feelings. cough cough*), to which I'll rate it as a 4.7/5. 

I don't want to talk about certain things here, but rest assured this IS a better novel (IMO at least) than Female General and Eldest Princess. Has the same failings as it tho, wherein the author just had wayyyyyy too much plot hooks and sh*t, and nowhere near the amount of time and dedication needed to save it.
