There is a massive amount of R19, but you can skip those chapters.

I have a love hate relationship with this novel, part of it has to do with the fact that the translator dropped it, and so I had to read the MTL, and let me tell you...the direct translations are difficult to understand.  I had to peice together what happened by using the background information given about the characters, and what seemed plausible.  However, at that point you aren't really enjoying the story, as you're more trying to figure out what the story with horrible translation.  The female lead doesn't actually run away, she has plans to, but things always go awry.  I can't sum this narrative up into an equation because it was extremely complex;... more>> There are several different timelines and unexpected twists and turns;I don't want to give it all away, so I'm going to summarize the surface plot.

A woman is transported in time, back to ancient China where she is among one of the Emperor's many concubines.  As a modern archeologist, she has some knowledge about era as well as the Emperor and Emperial concubine's relationship...and it's not good.  But, with time the FL and ML get close.  However, the FL is from modern times and she can't accept Ancient China's "norms": harems, colluding, backstabbing, mu*dering, polygomy.  Eventually she realizes that she loves him too much and cannot accept being in a relationship in which she is one of many.  So she plans to escape. <<less

This story moves very slowly. The FL half-heartedly attempts to run away several times. A FL is reincarnated-> trying to avoid ML -> FL catches... more>> ML eye -> FL runs away and is always caught <<less

She cries at the drop of a hat. She’s crying 80% of the novel. Yet the story isn’t bad, but it’s not great. I don’t know… It’s a man loses memory -> woman finds him and falls in love-> he is unfeeling and cold -> she realizes he will never love her = she runs. <<less

This is just smut. Weak storyline, weak characters, overall it’s just smut. If you’re into that, here it is.

There is a filled with smut, but the storyline is cute.

I am currently reading this. I am obsessed with it. I love the ML.
