MC transmigrates into a novel as the mentally impaired cannon fodder forcibly married off to the future villain (who is currently blind) to cement a business alliance between their families. MC decides to go through with that part of the plot, as the ML's abusive family is actually less bad for him than 'his own' abusive family, and starts quietly working on building up his own career and income so that when he's ready, he can simply escape and live happily instead of dying tragically like in the book. Along the way, he not only befriends the ML (who has figured out that he is pretending and is playing along in fascination to see what he's going to do next), but also befriends a few other cannon fodders and helps them avoid their terrible fates. And, very eventually, ends up falling in love despite his best efforts. As mentioned, this features some of the best relationship communication and respect for consent that I've seen in a danmei - it's not perfect, but it's significantly better than the dubcon that seems to be so popular in the genre. There's also several really good female characters, which is another rarity in danmei. <<less

The MC is decidedly not a fan of his role, and manages to convince his System that it'll be fine if he skips all the torturing and raping, so long as the outside world believes it happened and the protagonist kills him in the end. Cue an exceedingly confused ML trying to figure this demon lord out, given just how different he is compared to his reputation.  <<less

Plotting to escape the next day, during the night MC has a dream where he is a cannon fodder in a novel, and running away from the marriage is what starts his inevitable slip into ruin and death. Brushing it off as a dream, he still intends to escape... right up until the ML, the head of the family of the 'fiance', shows up and is like "no, marry me instead". To which the MC quite happily goes along with it. Same author as After Playing the Fool and Marrying the Blind Villain, so it has some similar vibes, and now I'm planning to look up the author's other works as I've really enjoyed both of these novels. <<less

MC is one of those "two infants accidentally swapped at birth, so the one raised as the rich young master actually isn't, and the rich family kicks him out and takes their real child back" characters. He is, obviously, resentful of it, but never considers trying to push out the other kid and reclaim his place - he just wants to pay back the money it cost to raise him, so is always desperate for money. His adoptive parents are scum, his bio family (other than the mother) are two faced and hypocritical, and he quickly moves out on his own to concentrate on making money from streaming. He and the ML... more>> meet completely by accident when the MC adds the wrong number for a virtual lover, and the ML over the course of the chats and streams figures out the MC isn't doing well financially, and secretly arranges things for him to help him out. This, in turn, helps the MC actually find some hope again, make some good friends, and help out others in his life - which turns out to change all of their fates.

One of the minor supporting characters has had dreams about what's SUPPOSED to happen, and it's originally a pretty dark and dismal fate for all of them. But because of the accidental contact and friendship (and later relationship) between MC and ML, all of that gets diverted.

I really liked it, and I particularly liked that the character who knows how things are 'supposed' to turn out is such a minor character, and one who doesn't use his knowledge to run around trying to fix things. Everything unfolds with very little involvement from him. <<less

After nearly dying in a car accident, the MC suddenly begins transmigrating between the real world and the game world - when he's asleep in the real world, he goes to the game world, and at random times when he falls asleep in the game world, he returns to the real world. The boss, meanwhile, has been aware of all of the in-game visits and gifts, and has fallen in love with the MC in return. Fun concept, and I really enjoyed it. <<less

I found it had some similar vibes to Strategy to Capture That s*um Gong, so if you liked that then you will probably like this. Comes with the same CNC and dubcon warnings as STCTSG. <<less

Of course, things don't entirely go that way, and in between his competitive spirit and love for the game getting sparked again and a romance very slowly developing with a teammate, he also ends up having to solve the mystery of what REALLY happened to his parallel self - and why - and in doing so finds out some things about what happened to him in his original world. <<less

He finds himself reborn back... more>> to shortly before he entered the pro e-sports circle, and decides that he's going to completely avoid it all this time. But he's so addicted to the game he goes back to it as a streamer, and ends up accidentally revealing just how good a player he is. This is the novel I mentioned previously, where one of the main supporting characters is a cishet guy who likes wearing makeup and women's clothes. It's also the first time I've ever seen a danmei where a character has wondered how to know if they were a top or a bottom, and the advice they received was "be whichever one you want to be". Also some very good communication and consent going on with the main pairing. I very much enjoyed it. <<less

Knowing that if he follows the plot and flees the marriage he will come to a bad end, he instead decides to throw himself at his insanely wealthy marriage partner and milk it for all the money and benefits he can get before his fiance is killed off by the plot in a year's time. His fiance, meanwhile, appears to be convinced that the MC is long-lost white moonlight. While the plot hinges on some misunderstandings, they're not cringy misunderstandings and actually make perfect sense (and they're not the sort that could be solved by communication without some specific things happening first). Very fun read. <<less

Then it turns out said neighbour is the MC's s*umbag ex's white moonlight. who is nothing like what the MC expected, and is, in face, exactly the MC's type. And it turns out that the MC is also the white moonlight's type. Fun read, with a shou MC who actually has a very firm spine and is not at all afraid of standing up for himself both verbally and physically. I'm not sure if this is the author's first work or not, because I personally found the pacing a little off, but I enjoyed it overall. I particularly enjoyed the MC's cat (whatever it is with danmei and cats, I approve). <<less

As usual for these kinds of novels, the MC immediately decides he will not be following his character's storyline, thank you. Instead, he plans to rebuild his career in this new world, while steering clear of interfering with the protagonist. Of course, given he's a freakin' movie emperor, various important people in the industry all immediately take note of this 'unbelievably talented newcomer'. For a refreshing change, the original protagonist is actually a genuinely nice and decent guy, so the MC never has to go against him or foil his plots, so it all ends up being a fun, low-stakes story, where every attempt to bring down the MC is resoundingly face-slapped by the MC and ML. <<less

This turns into the blackened protagonist becoming completely obsessed with killing his shixiong and possessing his benefactor, as well as a few demonic cultivators also getting a bit obsessed with the MC. TW for non-con, kidnapping, imprisonment, torture, emotional ab*se, and child ab*se. No HE. <<less

There's also no real suspense, and requires a bit more suspension of disbelief than usual because the MC and ML are so perfect and OP right from the beginning. The reason I'm rating it so highly is because if you want a novel where you can just switch off your brain and enjoy a mostly stress-free romp of an OP MC face-slapping and punishing the people who deserve it, and helping the people who deserve his help, then this novel is absolutely perfect. My biggest gripe with it is the number of times the bad guys are rapists or human traffickers - it felt like the author just couldn't think of enough other evil bad guys and so kept throwing in these for shock and 'omg these guys are so evil and deserve all the bad things' value. <<less
