I just wanna cry and scream because this is such a bumpy but awesome reading journey. I did dislike some of the flashbacks because they're too freaking long and Im the type of a reader who wants to read current events. Anyway, I am living for the characters tho, be it the MCs or villains. I think the author did a fantastic job with some of the character backgrounds. I am assuming the author released Mo Dao Zu Shi first, so I'll start from there. I don't know what happened? The author did a fantastic character build-up and story in MDZS but he/she didn't fully utilize it here. I like the MC's story but the romance between him and the ML was not there for me. They both seemed uninteresting together and whenever they're together, it's like they're together because the author just put them there. In short, the relationship development tremendously lacked here. Don't get me started with the long-ass flashbacks. I thought it was bad in MDZS but now I am giving the crown to this series. Book 2 is all flashbacks.... more>> I am not hating the flashback agenda if it's done right. It just seems so out of the blue and I just couldn't get through the whole Book 2 because of it.

Where do I even begin? It was freaking great! Well, the narration was simplistic most of the times but it hit me right on the feels. It just the right amount for my taste! Although the last 2-3 targets were rushed, I thought it was still fantastic. I can't stop applauding this novel. It was such a breath of fresh air! I keep looking forward to the next chapter and see how things unfold. Other authors should take notes because this author applied the cliche plotline in a very unique way. To be completely honest, I followed the manga more because of easy visualization. Anyway, I am happy that the characters ended up likable. However, I could hardly remember what the ending was and that doesn't sound good to me because I am really emotionally and logically big in that department. It was a bit tedious to read the chapters sometimes. How do I explain this? The narration simultaneously contained interesting and uninteresting topics. Even the translator had to explain the author's narrative a couple of times. I am not really a fan of the writing style but I did appreciate a refreshing take of MCs being reborn and both sides actually opened up about this 'dream' at the same time (I think).  Some fluffy moments here and there with a little bit of comedy. I especially like the different take of the royal family here. The conflict or the drive to move the story is the emotional factor (E.g. Jealousy, envy, malice, contempt, etc.). Other than that, I didn't like the lack of clarification about Mpreg. If you switch the MC's s*x to female, you won't see any difference at all, other than that he drank some pompous holy stuff that enabled him to become pregnant. Although I like the character development, I don't know why authors cannot for their lives make it more dynamic with them being males. Why does the shou/uke have to act more feminine than the gong/seme? Why can't they both be feminine and/or masculine? A mix of both or switch? I'm fairly sure this was written in the 21st century, so what's up with the reinforcement of feminine and masculine stereotypes? Why am I so bothered with this? I need to stop. lol The reading journey was kind of draggy, maybe because the chapters are longer than a mosquito's lifespan. I thought it was still ok though.

I applaud the author for trying to develop well-rounded main characters. Keyword: "TRYING".However, I was really annoyed with all the misunderstandings in the beginning. On top of that, "X days cannot get up from bed after between the sheets" just irked me the most. When the plot started to stray away from "Doomed to be Cannon Fodder," MC suddenly becomes omnipotent. Hi there Cactus-san~ *rolls eyes* Hey! At least creating modern bombs in an ancient timeline was decent because Cactus-san helped her get the ingredients. Other than that, the whole mess was just a drag.

I left a lengthy review of this novel. Check it out if you want! I wish we can link specific reviews. These types of novels always got me. Despite losing interest, I still prevailed and finished the story. I don't know how to combat this issue yet, so I will probably be victimized again with a mediocre story, yet the majority of readers left good reviews. I cannot stress enough how much I adore this short novel. I feel giddy(in a good way) just thinking about how wholesome this was! There was not much angst here, which I already expected. What I didn't expect is for me to really feel satisfied after finishing the story. I don't think this will ever be your cup of tea if you love a rigorous plot. However, if you want to chill for a bit, I heavily recommend this.

Not so much word building, but more so in the emotional factor. 

I have a hard time giving a spoiler without giving too much because the story is too short, to begin with. Anyway, I like the present meeting between the two. It was just right, no in-between drama. I guess you could say this brief story is more of a summary. The author could easily go in-depth details but perhaps decided not to.
