When I first started reading on NU, I wished that there was a rec list with long descriptions of the novels so I knew what I'm getting myself into instead of having to check the synopsis of each individual novel. Couldn't find any, so I created one. Here it is. Arranged from best > worst > boring reading experience.

Disclaimer; my "reviews" are my own personal, biased opinions. I'm terrible at being systematic & putting my thoughts into effective sentences, so 90% of the novel descriptions in here are just me rambling. I usually only drop & rate novels after I've read at least until c.35. Also, I like to change my ratings & reviews sporadically. Feel free to suggest more novels and/or argue with me.

Many people like to compare this to s*um Villain and I can see why. The author uses several similar plot points in the beginning; but other than that, the way the author uses those plot points and develops this novel makes it quite different from s*um Villain.

Transmigrator VS Reborn case. I love the premise, but I think the execution is a bit lacking. There is nothing particularly outstanding or noteworthy about MC, he's not dumb, but not smart either; he's funny, but not that funny, and I don't feel like he's particularly charming. He's stereotypically dense at first, Just a "meh" character overall, which is disappointing. In general, I don't really like it when transmigrated characters go a full 180 against their character settings and they tryhard at acting nice/hugging the protagonist's thighs. MC doesn't really go full 180, but it's close to that and so I wasn't really into the beginning segment where MC basically sells himself to the ML and tries to show that he's a good guy now.

I like that ML took a realistically long time to start believing and trusting MC. Though, I think that the transition from platonic to romantic love felt rushed. Of course, ML starts off paranoid and cautious of MC at first, and he saw everything that the MC did as suspicious. But MC continues to prove that he's now on ML's side and does things that the previous "original goods" would never do, which melts down ML's defenses bit by bit. More importantly, they seem to share a mysterious past together, and there seems to be a mystery surrounding MC's identity, the previous "original goods" and his transmigration.

I'm not sure what it is; maybe it's because I'm reading it at the wrong time? I feel like this novel's writing, although objectively decent, is quite draggy and boring. The only interesting part of this novel is its premise and set up -- basically the earlier interactions between MC and the reborn ML, who still didn't trust MC. After the point where ML began to trust and fall in love with MC, however, everything became dull and longwinded. I don't feel the chemistry between MC and ML; I feel like there is little to no suspense in the build-up of MC-ML's romance; the different plot arcs surrounding the two's supposed "romance" weren't all that interesting or fun either; and there aren't any particularly good/interesting side characters to keep me going -- which makes me feel that reading any more would be pointless. A decent but forgettable read.

Reborn MC: Heh. Try saying that again, I dare you.

MC becomes a eunuch here, but fortunately for him, he manages to barely avoid getting castrated. Quoting dysry's review; "With a doormat personality, the MC originally died after the girl he loved ran out of use for him. Reborn and just as eager to serve, he redirects his doormat skills towards the ML instead." That basically sums up my thoughts about the MC. He starts off alright - I made the grave mistake of thinking that he was going to become a smart MC - but he's just downright annoying in the third half of the novel.

ML is the emperor; a cold, manipulative and callous guy. Honestly, I was really into their interactions at the start. In MC's past life, he used to stalk/spy on the ML and gather all sorts of information about him in order to help his crush. Now, he's using the information to help himself and I just love the sheer irony of it all. That's literally all I "like" about their "relationship". ML has way too much power in this relationship and, while I'm not usually the type to care about power dynamics, he forces MC, robs him of his choices, and literally drug-rapes him at some point. Of course, all this go without consequence because MC gets Stockholm Syndrome and falls "in love" with ML in the ending anyway.

Their interactions most of the time are downright painful to read for me. Sometimes it's due to secondhand embarrassment, others because of MC's constant visible fear of the ML and him acting like a moron in front of ML and the rest is just generally me being disappointed. They have 0 chemistry, ML is a manipulative, abusive borderline psychopathic a**hole, and MC is a subservient character with the personality of a doormat who would let ML walk all over him and ab*se him over and over. Even in the ending, where MC seems to be more relaxed with the ML, MC is still terrified of him. Who could blame MC though? As I've said before, the power in their relationship is very tilted towards ML. One wrong word from MC and ML can easily just get rid of him at the lift of a finger.

Abusive novel alert. Victim (MC) ends up together with his ab*ser (ML). ML is an awful, delusional, manipulative, selfish piece of shit. I don't know if it was the translator's choice or if it was really like this from the original raws, but ML really just rubbed me the wrong way every time he addressed MC as 'little fool'. Actually, everything that s*umbag does ticks me off, but this one in particular. Like, is it meant to be endearing and cute? Cause it's really not. It's creepy as hell and sounds derogatory. It's so disgusting that I can't stand to read ML's POV paragraphs.

Artistically talented MC. He had a mental disability in his original life, though he no longer has it after transmigrating. After his death, MC tries his best to live a good life; to forget about the past, especially ML, and move on to new, better things. I love seeing his progress to happiness. If only ML wasn’t here to ruin it all. Sigh. I wish MC would actually go fall in love with a better man, but I know that won’t happen in this novel.

Celebrity actor ML. Wilful, arrogant, manipulative, possessive a**hole. He was forced to marry MC due to a marriage contract between their two families. ML starts off as an awful, abusive s*umbag. MC wholeheartedly and sincerely loved him, but ML was off pining after another guy and treated MC like dirt under his feet. Only when he finds out about MC’s death does he realize how much MC actually means to him, and how much he had hurt/wronged MC in the past.

I really wanted to beat this as*hole up. The audacity of this man astounds me. He’s so deep in denial, it’s almost funny. It was fun watching him suffer, even more when he started losing his mind to grief and regret. And then the fun turned to me yelling at him in anger every few paragraphs again. Sigh. Reading these kinds of abusive novels makes me feel like I aged a few years out of anger.

Side characters are...okay, except for ML’s little gang of hooligans, aka walking stereotypical bullies. The tsundere little sister is also literally a walking plot device. The author uses her to propel the plot forward all the time.

You have some really good novels listed here with such good reviews. I recently read Erha and your review perfectly summarizes my feelings — “I thought I could never forgive him for the awful things he did to ML. As the story went on, I found out more about his past and the REAL reason behind his attitude, I sympathised and cried for him. I could feel his regret, his hatred for himself, his confusion, his insecurity, and most importantly, his sincerity for the ML. I can't say that I forgive him but I can't say that I hate him either. It's a complicated feeling, to say the least.” — this is exactly how I felt.

I need help finding a bl novel, I forgot the title but it's an entertainment industry based light hearted novel where fans thinks that mc and ml are dating/married due to them coincidentally wearing same rings and clothes in public when in reality they don't even know each other.

altho I see you have dropped it by your review, don't mind if I ask if you have reread "Mistakenly Saving the Villain" again? Its pretty tiring to get the password from the website right now but I do recommend it a lot. I discovered it from this list and was attracted to it. I completed it and the rating is not a lie since its actually really good. The world building and the plot logic was splendidly written well and the hints around the mystery and the plot twist which was slowly revealed by the author in the end was amazing. I wanted to recommend it to you cause its one of my favorite novels, and I wanted to hear you're thoughts and reviews..? Correction, in Rebirth of the Silkish Wolfpants they arent biological brothers, MC's dad was only taking care of him because the ML was born out of wedlock and his dad's family didnt want him
