It starts off very cute and transparent - seemingly cold commander Gong x naïve, cute (but not overly s*upid) Shou. The interactions between the two gave me the tingles, it was that sweet :)

The story has some deep parts too. There are a lot of sad, tragic moments where we glance at the side characters and those who died. The side characters aren't flat, they serve a purpose and they have their own lives/stories. 

The MC explores what love is, the meaning of life, if life was worth living if it meant you could die the next second, etc. The ML slowly shows the MC why exactly he's so dedicated to humankind, and the MC gets to experience the beauty of humanity.  <<less

The story is fast-paced, never bland. It evolved from a simple premise of the MC trying to survive, to a deeper level, where the MC and ML go against the world. The BL is more subtle in this one than others, but I love the progression and world-building~

At first it just seems like a "I transmigrated" novel, but it's unique because of the hidden storyline behind the MC and the ML. The MC gradually recovers his missing memories through the chapters and we get to see how that changes his relationship with the ML (for the better). There aren't that many plotholes, the storyline is unique and interesting, and the MC and ML are wholesome — what more can you ask for? I would say that the side characters are pretty in depth too, because everyone has their own purposes for doing what they did (including all the villains). 

I read up to around chapter 90, so although I didn't finish it, I can definitely vouch for its quality. 9.4/10 <<less
