I’ve liked it so far (waiting for more chapters) the world building and background characters have just constructed such interesting imagery to me. Not that it’s the most immersive read, trust me this isn’t a detail sl*t, but the world depicted is shown in every scene. It’s there and never is it forgotten. I’ve gained some understanding but for what I was looking for. This is what I wanted. Just look at the tags and this is still a solid read. Light hearted but concerning (in the usual Asian WebNovel way) yet not overly s*upid nor does it really cross the line too much ethically speaking it’s more like tip toeing around it for me.... more>>

The way the side characters deal with and react to the MC’s situation is probably a big reason for the lower rating but to me it kinda makes sense and is also not really too shocking or offensive. Having been reading Asian web novels for a while now I understand the different values and views that might be held. That isn’t to say they’re right or that it’s not possible to find Asian web novels that aren’t discriminatory, exclusionist, or etc. Just more like it’s not too shocking and it’s understandable how it can affect a persons characterization in writing. I don’t read shitty novels that have morally incorrect views written in a positive and often brain dead way. This isn’t that.

From my perspective even if the characters cared for the MC they didn’t really respect her. She didn’t pay their paychecks, she doesn’t really have any power, and they don’t really owe her anything. From that perspective and from their intimate but not really too deep relationship (except for that one character) I’d say their actions made sense. <<less

(I will also say the second translator is doing an absolutely wonderful job but it did feel that they were lacking some of the eloquence and spirit the first translator had, though they did barely update while the second was was much more dedicated in comparison.) I think my feelings at the time may have clouded my judgement about the quality of this novel but I do think it’s unique and should be kept in this list. <<less

The MC is decisive and even though it’s not plainly stated a bit of a badass. I mean he rides a motorcycle has a personal couch he’s named Li Si and is socially lazy. When he first agreed to be the MLs shield he walked in wearing big ass sunglasses. Like the f*cker is awesome. 

He’s like my dream gay uncle/bestie.

And I don’t consider his emotional turmoil indecisive. His contradictions and inner thoughts made sense to me and when talking about BL that’s worth a lot. <<less
