Ji Fanyin realized the moment she transmigrated over that she was a stand-in, a substitute for her younger twin sister, Ji Xinxin.

“Sure, I can be her stand-in. Here is my list of prices. Take a look at it first, and make sure to reserve a slot in advance. I won’t accept any last-minute calls, and do take note that it’ll only be a platonic relationship. Thank you for your cooperation,” she said.

In a western restaurant, a rich young master looked at her with eyes filled with affection as he said, “Xinxin, I would like to ask you out for a movie tomorrow night…”

An alarm suddenly went off.

Ji Fanyin took a glance at her phone before reining in her business smile, saying, “Time’s up. I need to rush for my next appointment. Make sure to foot the tab, and farewell.”

The rich young master’s smile froze up. “I’ll reserve four hours for tomorrow’s movie.”

In the middle of the night, a drunk, tyrannical young master dialed her number and whined, “Big sis, when will you come over to meet me?”

“In order to ensure the quality of service, this call will be recorded. It’s four in the morning right now, and my services will be ten times the usual price. Are you certain you want to proceed?” asked Ji Fanyin.

“… Hurry up and start acting!”

Ji Fanyin’s phone suddenly rang in the midst of a date with a domineering CEO at Tokyo’s tower. With a smile on her lips, she rejected the call and said, “Sorry, it’s another customer.”

“… I’ll pay you ten times the price. Switch off your phone.”

By the time Ji Xinxin finally returned back to the country, Ji Fanyin successfully retired from the scenes with the massive fortune she had amassed.

Heh, bad women will never get hurt!

Pros:

1. Interesting premise

I'm no stranger to the stand-in setting, however, it's my first time seeing it done by an MC who makes it blatantly obvious, even to the targets, that they're only in it for the money. There's definitely some glee to be had seeing characters flounder due to our MC's acting - especially when the MLs are aware they're the ones paying her for an illusion.

... more>> 2. Not romance focused

Although there's some (questionable) late romance, it's very much not a focus of this novel. MC is very firm and decisive about what she wants and how to achieve her end goal. For better, or for worse, she doesn't waver with any of the MLs.

Cons:

1. Bad pacing

Starts strong but dwindles later. Some points are so utterly boring that it's a struggle to continue. I didn't drop it simply because it's short enough to power through.

2. Flat characters

Perhaps it's because of the length, but almost all the characters lack depth. Unfortunately, this includes the MC.

MC

Spoiler

Apart from being a mary sue cold, calm, heartless, cool, perfect, etc., we know nothing about her. I'm not joking.

The main goal of the story is for the MC to return to her original world, and she has to amass a disgusting amount of money (10 billion) to do so. But during this journey, we learn absolutely nothing about her.

We don't know why she wants to go back; there are no stakes and/or motivations that allow us to sympathise and root for her.

We know nothing about her background aside from the fact that she's an incredible actress. There's not even any mention of any friends and/or family.

Oh, but I guess we do learn that she's incredible with FPS games in her original world. Also, her hobbies are cooking and watching/reviewing movies. And because she's a mary sue, she's obviously flawless at all of this.

Seriously. The author might as well have given her a protagonist halo as a golden finger or something.

Frankly, the most interesting and memorable character is surprisingly Bai Zhou who is one of the original s*um MLs.

Bai Zhou

Spoiler

He's the most fleshed-out and memorable character. I actually felt bad for him at the end of his arc.

While Bai Zhou starts as a rich brat with all the stereotypical arrogance, aggression, and moodiness, he becomes the most tolerable of the original MLs. Despite being detestable in the beginning, he's the only character with more than surface-level logic.

Bai Zhou is a child who comes from a turbulent and unloving family. His mother and father have little interest in him, both preferring to instead indulge in outside partners. With his mother being apathetic and even downright ruthless, his father being self-absorbed and completely absent, and both preferring to resolve their issues with money, it's understandable how Bai Zhou could grow to be so warped. At every turn, his parents hurt and traumatise him. Hell, his mother even pays MC to traumatise him some more as a form of "teaching".

Yet, as Bai Zhou spends more time with our MC, he does some introspection and learns to take accountability for his actions. In fact, he's the only ML who tried to sincerely apologise and atone for his previous behaviour. His trauma doesn't excuse or absolve him of his sins, however, he's the only character grows and whose actions have some underlying logic apart from just being an a**hole.

In the end, our MC still cuts Bai Zhou off since it's not her place to forgive him in place of the original. This is fair and understandable, but I still felt it was a shame that his story ended there. With the amount of focus he got, I almost thought he was a potential endgame ML. That would have been more interesting than the actual endgame ML at least.

ML

Spoiler

ML is Chen Yunsheng. He's around the same age as Bai Zhou and is the typical cold to others but warm to MC. He's weirdly devoted to MC for some unexplained reason, but she basically treats him like a cute pet. Their relationship is quite lopsided and I'm not sure why or how the MC likes him romantically. He's also extremely forgettable and is only mentioned a handful of times throughout the novel.

If the reason for him being the ML was endless devotion, then what about the literal god Shen Qi that allowed her to transmigrate in order to save her life in the first place? I don't know, Chen Yunsheng was just a weird choice for a shoehorned in ML. Frankly, there was more chemistry between MC and her female friend than with him.

However, in general, I think there should've just been zero romance. It just feels a bit awkward for a novel like this.

[collapse]

All in all, this is an ok read if you're looking for something to mindlessly kill time with. It's short and entertaining enough. <<less

Awesome! MC objectively isn't doing anything wrong as she is just acting as per what she agreed upon with the MLS but I do feel bad for some of them. Really novel unique plot with semi-reverse harem.

I absolutely love her chill character and well MC is such a queen :)

Spoiler

I like how she is sure of what she wants, and not really moved by the scums that were ok with using her as a substitute in the first place. MC feels like a quietly confident character that is not as bogged down by morals that society sets on her yet still has her own principles that she will follow regardless of temptation.

Her ability to analyze the situation provides a unique high EQ POV. The dynamic between her and her sister is actually pretty interesting, would be nice if the sister was a stronger opponent.

The cute wolfdog ML that never hurt the original owner is really really adorable yet also cool and just wow, I can't remember the last time I liked an ML this much

This is a story about a lady who transmigrate into another person's life. The former Fanyin was weak-willed and let everyone step on her, and many people took advantage of this. The transmigrator from another world has the quest to earn money (monetary value and emotional value) in order to return to her former world. In that process, she is able to take revenge on the people who hurt and took advantage of the former Fanyin. It's basically a revenge story, but with characters being able to understand their faults.... more>> I do recommend it, because in a way there is character growth here and there. I can't say that it's the best ending, but it is a happy ending for most of them. The ending is a bit different from the usual transmigration stories, because...

Spoiler

When Fanyin actually finishes her quest, she's able to go back to her world and body, while the former Fanyin also comes back to her own body.

On another note, Chen Yunsheng is such a sweetheart to the MC. He's so naive, innocent, and his love is so pure hearted, but he knows to stay away from green tea b*tches! We all need someone like Chen Yunsheng. At first I felt a little bit sad that the author didn't give the arc enough attention, but in order to reach the ending that the author wanted, it was inevitable.

Spoiler

Of course, the author did not leave us hanging in the end and found a way to give our Chen Yunsheng the happy ending he deserves <3

[collapse]

I did not give the story a 5 star, because the "enemy" never really had a fighting chance when MC transmigrated. Xinxin actually could not do anything, because when she finally had a chance to notice her fishes were acting strange, it was already too late. MC had a breeze in finishing her quest, because she had a huge head start with very little interruptions. <<less

MTLed after chapter 30. (It was surprisingly readable)

This novel passes the Bechdel-Wallace test! This is so rare in Chinese romance novels with a female protagonist! Usually, all non-elderly women are negative-IQ cannon fodder or villains who can only talk and think about the men around them. Here we have Zhang Ning, Cheng Lin and others who are just people with their own lives and interests which sometimes intersect with the main characters.

Another unique selling point: ... more>>
Spoiler

Most of the story is from the point of view of the transmigrated person but half of the last part is from the point of view of the original Ji Fanyin who is gifted her body back.

She doesn't rush back to any of the men, she goes on with her life! Og!Ji Fanyin continues her education & gets a dream job in a STEM field. She is respectful of tm!Ji Fanyin's efforts, learns from her experiences but does her best to stand on her own two feet.

The girl who died for love learns to live for herself.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the woman who lived a carefree life caring only about herself, learns to open her heart to love.

I can't comment on the quality of the writing (because it's google translated) but the content is a fresh take on the transmigration routine. 5/5 stars. <<less

With the reason of FL's job as a screenwriter and Emotional Value for the 10 billion that could be gained from dramatic occurences. Which it's absurd with how easily she got 80% of the money, for the 10 billion dollars, from the Emotional Value of all the characters, drama, tragedy, positive, negative, etc. And 20% of it was gained by the FL as the title says.

Moreover, the entire novel focus on the MC and her way to achieve the goals, which is rare in case. Because in other novels you might find often that many MCs decided to stay or accept that new transmigrated world as their own, of course it also depends on their circumstances as well. But in this novel the MC's goals were clear as crystal since the beginning which is to acquire 10 billion and return to her original world despite finding someone she obviously liked. The way she play other fishes (which were harvested by her green tea bit*h twin younger sister, as it gave her psychology satisfaction to be in control and superior) and extract not only their money but emotions as well for her own means are particularly spectacular in my opinion. Also when she was being with them as stand in her inner thoughts also had me bawling. Most importantly all my favourite characteristics that should have within themselves was on spot like oozing female power, being cold hearted, ignoring nuisance as they should be, conniving, very cunning, doesn't take sh*t and prioritising her own self first.

However, the novel might clash with in terms of morals or one's opinion, nevertheless it also promises to engage the reader till the end. <<less

Considering how 'fast' FL and ML feelings formed. I felt really conflicted for the god who always accompanied FL.

There's just too little information about him, and at the end he lost her to the ML who happened to be her type.

The god was simply the second ML syndrome that too pitiful.

The reason for the 3 star rating is because of the sloppy transitions between scenes and events in the plot. A lot of stuff is skipped over to try and create a faster paced story, which in the way it was written for this story, screwed it over. The characters and character developments are also pretty poorly done in this novel. I would've given a 2 if not for the interesting sparks of plot and knowing the direction it'll go from the synopsis. I feel like I would've liked and... more>> kept reading the story if either one of those 2 problems were fixed. Additionally for anti harem readers out there, you should already know this is going to be a reverse harem novel, so just avoid if you dont want to try due to the genre. <<less

I’ve always loved it when they mixed romance and psychology and give me moral conundrums. The MC is consistent and definitely did not fell short of what I expected of her character.

Anyway, the romance is more like a subplot and an extra dish because this is not about that. This is about people harvesting what they sowed. Are their sins as heavy as the punishment? I don’t know, only the victim can really say but, their character and their faults were introduced to me and there’s nothing I really wanna... more>> change. All of them are a little psycho and a bit pitiful.

The ML is adorable and I wish I could have seen more of his not so adorable side. I wouldn’t have had any qualms of this being a little longer

The current rating (4.1) is too low for this novel. <<less

I like face slapping novels when they're well-done. I've read quite a few, so I'm grateful when the main character isn't someone out for revenge from the get-go. The MC is reasonable in focusing on herself, and not trying to avenge some farfetched ideal or the previous soul. So far, I like the MC and will continue reading to see how far she goes.

A genuinely solid read. This one was a rare case where the summary wasn't at all misleading, but the story itself was still much, much better than I expected it to be. It's like it managed to perfectly deliver the dramatic tropes that I've seen many other novels riff on and parody, but it didn't feel cringey or overdone at all.

It definitely didn't hurt that the translation quality was excellent! The English text was very smooth, and I never had to try to decipher who was speaking to whom or... more>> what was going on. I don't think I even noticed any major typos.

I found the overall pacing was quite good, and I really enjoyed that the author didn't skimp on giving us a satisfying ending that concluded the story over several chapters. Seriously, among dozens—maybe hundreds—of transmigration stories I've read, this was one of the best I've seen in terms of tying up loose ends (particularly without using "side stories" as a crutch). <<less

I come back to this novel frequently to reread it! The MC is a strong and capable woman who knows what she wants (and will get what she wants). The s*um "ML"s around her really get what's coming to them, and that's what makes the story so satisfying!

As someone who loves "crematorium" regret novels, those novels tend to fall under the "refreshing (karma is served) to dog-blood (complex, convoluted, confusing) " spectrum. This is more on the "refreshing" side of the spectrum rather than the heavy "dog-blood" side--which is...refreshing!

Without a doubt one of the best novels I've ever read. Every now and then, I go back for a laugh.

There's nothing I'd change about the MC. Brilliant, clever, a bit ruthless - well, okay, a lot ruthless - but not overly cruel, and not romance-brained to boot. Going in, I already knew the MLs were going to fall in love with her. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the MC upheld what she said she'd do and didn't fall in love with any of her customers in return, which... more>> already automatically ranks her above most other MCs.

As for the actual romance in this novel... well, let's just say that's not one of the tags for a reason. Anyway, I'd sooner put a comedy tag than a romance tag.

The other thing I liked about this story was the fact that there's actual character development for the MLs. Aside from their falling in love with the MC, they also... maybe mature? I appreciate the fact that the antagonists aren't demonized beyond redemption. Song Shiyu's a pretty shitty person and Bai Zhou is a rich a**hole, but in the end the novel shows you a glimpse of their humanity. Of course, not everyone is redeemed, but that wouldn't be believable either.

All in all, it's a novel where there's not really much of an obstacle to the MC. Though she's placed in a pretty bad position at first, we all know she's going to come out on top, and she knows it too. The enjoyment of reading comes from seeing how, exactly, the villains get what they deserve. I don't think there was ever a tense moment while I was reading where I genuinely believed the MC in be in any actual danger, or any possibility of losing. Overall, great ride, would recommend. <<less

This novel was pretty good and really holds your attention with the exception of a few key problems.

Positives:

  • FL is a total badass. She steps into a new world, takes a quick look around, and is like 'bam, this shit's easy'
  • The villain's are somewhat complex, they all have their own well fleshed out backstories that provide reasons for their behaviors
  • Very mature view of relationships and self-worth. Despite working as a stand-in, the FL is very clear where the line is drawn between reality and fantasy and doesn't let herself become emotionally attached to those toxic people.
Negatives:

  • The ML as well as the ending kind of comes out of nowhere and left an uncomfortable aftertaste. The FL spends the entire book focusing on building her wealth and returning her own world not leaving any time for romance
    Spoiler

however despite that, the ML acts as though he fell in love with her to the point where he stays abstainent for his entire life so that he can travel to her world and have the chance to pursue her, Additionally the ML himself acknowledges that he did so while thinking that she had no romantic feelings for him. Overall, it had very little build up and felt very forced and rushed.

    [collapse]
  • There's the huge issue of Shen Li as a character.
    Spoiler

It really felt like the author just shoved him in out of nowhere so they could explain why the FL was able to transmigrate. Having such a random 'God' character thrown in with absolutely no explaination was super jarring and kind of ruined the ending. First of all: why was the original 'Ji Fanyin' able to guess that he was 'God' just because of his name, second: how was Shen Li able to take Ji Fanyin to another world and why did Ji Xinxin have a dream of her 12 years ago, third: even if Shen Li could do all of this for the 'woman he loved' (we saw no proof of this and had no reasoning for why he loved her or how they even met or knew each other, he was just her 'friend') why would Shen Li willingly choose to help the ML go to the FL's world to be with her?!?!?!? Like in what world is he going to willingly do that?

Overall, the novel was interesting enough that I read to the end, but the ending pissed me off enough that I wrote a review.

One of the most mature hetero romance book I've ever read. This MC is not afraid to say what she feels, she absolutely let her boundaries to be verbally stated right away, she never makes any promises that she can't keep, and she never-ever leads a person on once she knows they have feelings towards her. She's brutally honest.

The things I love in this book is how each character has different personalities that are so carefully written by the author. As a reader we get to watch our MC interacts... more>> with all these different people, and she is just amazing at what she does.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting such a mature take on this book because of the tittle and the first few chapters, but the author is just really good at portraying our MC's deep character. I admire the MC a lot throughout reading this book. I'm also very thankful that the author chose to share two closures as she ends this story. I felt complete and satisfied. <<less

This story has many, many reasons to recommend it, but the reason I fell in love with it is that ALL its women (with the exception of MC's mother, I guess) are strong female characters with beautiful, beautiful female friendship, where they mutually love and respect each other. Even casual mentions of random girls isn't '... and all the girls were envious of MC's beauty/bf/money/brains...' no, they appreciate her. Even the antagonist, despite her villainous breakdown, was nowhere near as s*upid or weak as many similar characters.

At the place where I am now, c106 pt2, the book is basically finished and the last tidbits of plot can essentially be guessed. It's a good novel! Out of all the revenge novels I've read, I would consider this to be one of the most conclusive ones. Maybe more so than The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage. A long title, but if you know that novel than you also know it is a revenge novel.

The revenge plot in 100, 000 hour is the main plot and... more>> it's very clearly what the story is pivoting around. It's well thought out and everything connects rather smoothly, making it an enjoyable process for the reader. Note that everything in the book connecting smoothly does not mean the MC has an easy going life necessarily, it's just that the writing is good.

From the beginning to the end, other people have pointed this out as well, the MC stuck to her guns and I AM SO GLAD for it. I wish all revenge MC's were like this.

Kind of a big spoiler:

Spoiler

Honestly was dreading if the MC would fall in love with one of the shitty OG MLs she was taking revenge on and I'm so glad she didn't. Thank god.

Although the whole book is surrounded by romance etc, ironically, the actual romance with the MC and someone else is rather small. It's very much a subplot but it's still present enough to pop up at times and be a little enjoyable. But if you want to read a novel about a classic MC ML romance story muah muah I wouldn't really recommend this. I'd recommend this if you wanted more of a powerhouse-business-revengeful MC.

MAJOR END spoiler that will probably impact your enjoyment of the story:

Spoiler

Another great thing this novel does well is the fact that the MC stays clear to her original goal and decides to return home. I was thinking as it got closer to the end that it would be A) really against her personality and what the author has built up and B) disappointing and cliche if the MC decided to stay in her transmigrated life. But I'm glad that she upheld her goals from the very beginning and returned home in the end with little hesitation. MUCH more realistic than other classic transmigration novels lol.
