Surprise! That's not actually the girlfriend's uncle. It turns out her uncle is the driver of the rich ML. Which, while a predictable twist, was pretty hilarious. Especially in the scene when the ML jealously says he believes every man was chasing the MC and the driver flat out says "Not me!" which ruins the slightly romantic environment.

His PoV of seeing her for the first time was actually really cute but seemed completely unlike the way he was written in the rest of the story. He literally chases after her and only stops at the moment when he sees her with her ex (who was her boyfriend at the time).

Never mind that our first introduction with him is someone who basically ignored her all day despite agreeing to an interview with her. The affection does kind of show up when he actually does get to the interview as he provides her with longer answers than for the other person who interviewed him.

He was a greedy SoB who was constantly playing the field. He pursued the MC for three years in College while having someone on the side in case it didn't work. She didn't date during College (as her parents didn't want her to) so she finally accepted his pursuit after they graduated.

It never states if the MC's family is wealthy but she was considered the beauty of their class which was why he was interested in her. Once he mistakes the new girlfriend as the niece of a wealthy man (by the car that her uncle is driving and picks her up at one point), he begins to pursue her and then dumps the MC.

So, we see at the end that the new girlfriend finally realizes that he won't stay with her once he realizes that she's just an office worker. They break up and he shows up drunk at the MC's apartment. The girl's uncle beats him up a little before the ML shows up and eventually threatens him to never show up again in the MC's life.

And that's it. He never shows up again. Guess he really did take the ML's threat seriously.

She rejects the ML's initial offer to give a ride because she thought he was hitting on her and tells him she's waiting for her boyfriend. Yet, later on she keeps thinking he's interested in her because of that offer when she should've connected the dots that he offered likely to give the interview she has waited hours at the banquet for only to leave empty handed.

The whole misunderstanding about the new GF being the ML's lead is dumb because as a journalist how could she not fact check and investigate the woman's background. Especially when she has so many connections to all the financial big shots. The real niece is even the daughter of someone she had interviewed often, how could she not have the resources to figure out who the niece is. It's such a plot hole.

She kept telling him how much she likes him and obviously he starts to reciprocate. Even when she's exposed, she's never honest with her feelings. She just coldly apologizes and assumes his anger is due to her fooling him, who was born with a golden spoon and likely never been tricked. She never considers how much pain he's in because he developed real feelings for her. She blames him for his poor treatment but doesn't think about how only sincerity gets sincerity. She harps about how her ex kept chasing her and making all these efforts that moved her, so she trusted him. Then for her revenge she does the exact same thing to the ML but worse bc she had no real feelings for him.

ML had met FL before the beginning of the story and already showed interest in her. He chased after her only to see her with the BF. Makes no sense that he was already interested in her at some point that he'd make it so difficult for her to complete her scheduled interview with the ML and it felt so forced by the author to justify that he's so tolerant of her. FL is honestly tr*sh with how she tries everything to get him to fall for her to get revenge for something that ML had no connection to from the beginning. Even if supposedly, the new gf relies on her uncle, he's still an innocent party unless confirmed he wanted his niece to seduce the ex bf.

She just sends him an email with four sentences. Saying she sorry and doesn't expect his forgiveness, that she hopes he doesn't meet someone as terrible as her again, and well wishes. She doesn't do it in person. She doesn't acknowledge that she really developed feelings for him. She just leaves him with these basic words. Then it just jumps into him still harping on her and taking the initiative to take care of her when she's sick. She never gave a real apology before their romance started back up. It's so frustrating that it feels like she just got away with it without real consequences. I wish she had to grovel, recognize that she really fell and prove that she's so sure to him, rather than him going back bc he cares and can't really leave her alone. Feels like she got of easy.

How Shi Yan didn't forgive Zheng Shuyi for her betrayal, yet he was willing to be with her cause he was so in love with her. This just showed how desperate he was to be with her, yet letting her know at the same time that what she did was frankly unforgivable, and it isn't brushed under the carpet, but they heal slowly from that

The ML having an earlier encounter with FL was only revealed later and summarized in the ending. The author could have built this up instead of just showing ML sneering here and there on the FL's embarrassing actions to get his attention. It's like the author suddenly remembered that there's this important element that would keep the ML from putting up with the FL.

that made me tear up when the FL realized how she strung the wrong person due to an earlier misunderstanding with her ex-boyfriend on who the "uncle" was. She realized that she eventually has fallen in love with the fish dragon she's been trying to reel in but now that things have been revealed to the ML, she won't get the chance to love him back.
