On a certain day, Chu Yi, feeling quite peculiar, goes to a bar for a drink and ends up drastically changing his life.

Unspeakable deeds were done and he accidentally picks up a husband.

It was quite a coincidence that this husband of his turned out to be a senior from his school, the one who people call a ‘mountaintop flower’.

However, he didn’t expect that this aloof and hard-to-approach husband of his to not only flirt without batting an eye but also love eating vinegar (getting jealous).

When he talks to others, his husband eats vinegar.

When he laugh with others, his husband eats vinegar.

When he compliment others, his husband eats vinegar.

Even when he post about anything related to others on his Moments on WeChat, his husband eats vinegar.

Chu Yi understood later that his husband should be pampered, and should be the only one in his heart.

Qin Yiheng has always lived his life the way he planned and he has never strayed off from his plans. Until one day, he met a certain person in a bar and certain things happened.

In a responsible manner, he decided to marry this person, brought them back home and included him in his plans. He was ready to live a life of mutual respect with this person.

However, he didn’t expect that the husband he picked up would actually make him so addicted.

This whole novel is the definition of adorable!

I don't think I've ever blushed so much in my life before, that is how fluffy and sweet this is!

In the beginning, with the way the ML was, I could not get the sweetness everyone talked about, but my god did he change. He was not mean, just mostly indifferent and respectful at the beginning, with no concept of love.

... more>> But as the story went on, the changes and the doting were absolutely the best!

Our MC is one adorkable little cake! He was very patient, obedient, and very friendly. Just the sweetest person out there. His past had a certain impact on how he behaved so carefully around the ML always thinking about how he would react. But soon as they understood each other, both of them became carfree around each other and that was the most lovely of all.

I loved every character in this novel, Ml's cousin, assistant, driver, parents and MC's employees, mother, friends.

Read this if you are in the mood to just sqeal and blush. Very recommended! <<less

Quite enjoyable romance but honestly, I felt the start was quite rough and awkward. I almost gave up reading a few times.

I was just uncomfortable the whole time reading because I'm pretty sure the misunderstandings came from the fact that ML might be autistic. I know chinese writers don't do this unless the disability is part of the plot so I'm pretty sure it was accidental. Lol. ML takes things literally so he misses some social cues. That's why MC had a hard time trying to flirt with him. He's... more>> also pretty set with his routine which is why he had a rough start with the MC. Not used to sleeping with someone, with being touched, etc. Most of the social rules of being married, his assistant taught him. ML is also unintentionally funny.

Anw, it's quite wholesome. I continued reading hoping it was gonna get addressed. Just felt that if the author was gonna write someone like the ML, I hoped they'll notice ppl like this are common and their group has a name! And autism is not bad!

Caveat tho: I'm not an expert so someone more knowledgeable can correct me on this <<less

Okay here goes...

The first few chapters showed how the ML eats vinegar, without him realizing it.

And the MC, of course, can't read minds, so he thought and you can feel it, that the ML was a bit mean to him.

But I guess its just the awkwardness of the flash wedding.

Sadly, its ongoing and I can't find the mtl version.

This is actually really good if u like slow but still had bits of sweetness on every chapters. It's slow bcos the ML is dense towards his own feeling's and both MC and ML took awhile to confessed while at the same time aware of each other feelings and indulged themselves and us readers with their daily flirting and pda. at first im a bit skeptical of the ML's words like "don't touch me, let's not interfere in each other personal life" sounds harsh and cold ain't it? But then... more>> the next day he would be cuddling the MCs In bed 😂 it happened multiple times but once he realized his feelings he's ur perfect husband. That's it... To sum it up it focused more on building the mains relationship and affectio

This two are so damn cute! LOL

I love MC's internal monologue especially during the 1st parts when whenever he can't stand ML's unintentional flirting 😂

ML is also so s*upidly clueless in social etiquette 😂

I read this through MTL but even with the broken English, it still put a s*upid grin on my face. This is the story to read when you're feeling down and just want to escape from reality for a while.

It's been a while since I wrote a review so it might be jumbled, please bear with it.

Now, the translation was quite easy to understand and I am not sure if it was the translation or the writing style but I had actually had little expectations from this novel.

I had read the title long ago and even read the first chapter only to say no, because, well it's really unappealing at the start. Only a few days ago, something possessed me to push through the first few chaps and I... more>> found the appeal in it. The third person perspective which initially put me off became endearing by the end. This might also be the growth in the writing style of the author itself that endeared me, I could never know now.

The first few chaps make you belive that the story is gonna be s*upid. The MC is gonna be another s*upid person who accepts grievances and marries a cold and aloof man for looks... Not totally wrong but quite off the mark in its delivery, the MC chooses quite well. I was quite confused about why Chu Yi would agree to marry the ML when well, there's little reason since it's already know he is good looking and has been to many blind dates which fail only because he is too picky. I was scoffing in the first few chaps, what picky? Was he simply unsatisfied with the looks? But as I pondered, it made sense. Since he was looking to marry someone through blind date, getting married on second meeting isn't actually unreasonable... Till it is. And it's unsolved. That's a minus point. But u know what? Most novels need something illogical to start off, and if this little point is the illogical part? I think it's already great. Also, by the end of it, the husband was not drinking vinegar, he was just feeding sugar to onlookers. The MC also gets bolder as his relationship improves with his husband and they both become more open. They communicate, tease, flirt, discuss their schedules, make time for dating and the ML tries to copy whatever sweet nothing the other couple do hehe. Love it!

Oh right, the title is well, true but it is also misleading. While the ml, Qin Yiheng is easily jealous and dislikes when others touch Chu Yi or Chu Yi paus more attention to them and not him, he doesn't really disrupt Chu Yi and also cares about his social persona and job. He doesn't try to make unreasonable demands after they get to know each other because well... In the beginning he really thought his demands were reasonable and does regret his demands later on... But don't worry it's not an angsty regret but just, I could have been more considerate or why did I tell him we should not interfere with each other's work? As he looked at other people bringing their partners on business and the like and quickly calling MC and saying he takes it back and the MC just laughing as he tries to keep it reasonable still. Also Qin yiheng is not anti social all the time, but more like, quite picky about it and tries to change this perspective and show more of his emotions so that MC can easily understand him and vice versa... He also laughs and smiles a lot! Hehe he also has a naughty streak but not unnaturally so, just the kind people normally see, so it's quite an anamoly in it's normalcy and that's a complement. I like the story. It's not very elaborate and that makes sense because it's a short novel. Read it if you are free and for fun. Don't really expect insights or thh like but it's fun after u ignore the first few illogical reasons which is, why would he marry so suddenly to an unreasonable person when he ahs so many options? Admittedly, his options aren't enough[ if he wasn't interested but well.. That it.

Btw one can argue that the MC is Mary sue but I think it's reasonable that good looking person would be liked by so many people if he had a genuinely cute personality like the MC, where he tries to hide how adorable he is in fact, he is easily embarrassed which just makes the teasing even more reasonable. Like would u tease a block or a person who would blush visibly whenever he is embarrassed?
Spoiler

this made me think even his nickname baobei from his classmates was quite reasonable, I would tease my classmate that way too if I was them

The story is cute and light. Has some healing properties after a heavy story.

ML and MC are pretty cute, however around half of the story ML begins to show slight controll mania and MC degrades into an obedient puppy. This is the only part I don't agree with.

I actually really enjoyed the novel. And even more so - ML. This is probably the first time that there was really a lot of high-quality dog food. However, most of the time I had a question: does MC really not understand that when there are other people around, he completely forgets about ML? If my partner did this, then there would be no silent, but understanding vinegar. I think if ML behaved like this regularly, MC would be very unhappy. Meh.

Honestly speaking, this story was just okay. Wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever read, but it was an easy read, and definitely something I would recommend if you wanted a break from a particularly angsty story. The MC is fairly typical, but sweet. The ML is the kind of stoic that reminds me of a person who may be neurodivergent. I personally found the ML to be rather dull, he didn’t seem to have any real interests or personality outside of the MC, in my opinion. But with that being... more>> said, I do believe that the two were perfectly succinct when addressing any issues they had in their relationships. There were misunderstandings, but not the kind that will drag on and annoy you for several chapters. Overall, this is a short and sweet story that doesn’t require any brain power to enjoy. <<less

This is a really cute, pure fluff story. There's not much drama or anxiety. ML is kinda a jerk in the first couple chapters, but I really liked him by the end. The couple here actually communicates so there's no "white moonlight/you're cheating" tropes. Just a really sweet story in general. Obviously, this isn't going to be some dogblood drama or thriller, or anything like that. You shouldn't expect anything like that from the description, so don't hold it to those kinds of standards.

It's cute, well-written, and a relaxing feel-good... more>> novel that doesn't take that much time. <<less

This novel is straight up 99% dog food and a little bit of plot. Despite what the title may have you believe, there are actually 2 vinegar jar husbands in this haha! The ML has superhuman powers of communication though, and literally every time he feels jealous, he will later tell the MC and they come to a tacit understanding of the matter. It’s basically a fantasy romance, with any potential drama being cut down at its source lol

I wouldn’t worry about there being too much jealousy either, as ML... more>> is very reasonable about his feelings and doesn’t actually try to control MC beyond what MC is comfortable with. He can be a little too blunt sometimes, but this also translates into the most effective flirting that I have ever read. The lines that ML says are honestly swoon worthy haha I could definitely relate to the MC falling for it every time.

The author keeps things interesting by having them fall for each other after marriage and the lowkey mutual pining is literally so sweet, as they’re oblivious to each others’ true feelings while also acting like the most in-love couple possible. The ML starts off a little cold, but he still is somehow the perfect model husband even at the start, and the gradual shift in his feelings and actions is really well paced. MC also has quite a bit of character growth, as aided by ML’s guidance, and he is able to speak his feelings and act confidently in front of his lover by the end.

Though not too much happens, the sugar in this novel is enough to sustain me for weeks. Absolutely the best palette cleanser after all the other dog blooded dramas. The communication in this novel really sets a standard for a healthy relationship and green flag ML. If anything, the MC was the more emotionally repressed one in the relationship and ML had to be the one to draw out his feelings haha!

I’ll also say that I looooooved their nicknames for each other, and how they always referred to each other as “husband” and “little husband” like please that’s so cute!! Also kudos to the fact that ML never called MC his wife... not that I have a problem with that term but it’s just nice to have such a sweet married couple have more interesting pet names for each other! <<less

Pretty good to pass the time, dilly dally in good mood. It's actually a lil bit greasy at the end, but I like how their romance work. Both MC and ML still a stranger at first, their communication also not good, but they eventually make it work together. Well, their friends and family are good people too, so these two little ducks fall in love in the right path. There's no villain, just a bad dad. Overall, it's almost like a fairy Tale.

Pure fluff, light-hearted and left me giggling from the sweetness

If you have read a somewhat depressing/tragic/somber toned novel before this, it's a good novel to read as a break from it

I hope the translator ever gets to read this. I couldn’t write a comment directly on the novel’s site. This was a fantastic read. Enjoyable from beginning to end. Slow and intimate pace, splurged with comedic moments, and nothing felt added for the sake of extending a novel. I was quite sad when I realised I had reached the end. It’s nicely written, witty and really good translated. So Snaggletooth, thanks so much for translating this.

This novel is a drama free, smooth sailing love after marriage kinda novel. There is no real conflict between the main CP. In fact they got along well even when they barely knew each other. They went from polite strangers who got married on their second meeting to infatuated lovers that got along like an old couple but still have the chemistry of newlyweds.

The development while quite fast considering how the main story started on their first day of marriage and ended on the 100th day after marriage. It was... more>> still really sweet and didn't feel rushed. Although, the end of the main story was somewhat sudden that I initially thought of it as a joke by the translator when I saw the word "End" at the bottom of the chapter. Needless to say that I was surprised when I saw that the next chapter was an extra chapter so I went on novelupdates to double-check the chapter amount. Usually, I am turned off by extra chapters, especially when they don't have any plot but only fluff. This time, however, the extra chapters were very much needed to ease myself into the ending of the novel.
Spoiler

On top of that, we got to read about their first meeting which, I am sure, everyone was curious about. The obligatory wedding chapters rounded up the whole experience quite nicely.

[collapse]

The characters were all quite likeable, except for one or two; Chu Yi's father and that one xuezhang who used to be shipped with Chu Yi during their university days and whose name I have forgotten since he kinda dropped off the face of the earth after finding out that Chu Yi is married. That was kinda anticlimactic, but oh well~

I liked how Chu Yi did not quite fit any conventional shou mold. He is neither a dense, naive vase nor is he an op Mary Sue. He is pretty normal. While good-looking he is also humble and hard-working, gentle, outgoing and easily makes new friends. Yet he at times can be too humble due to a lack of a sense of security or slightly low self-esteem that stems from his upbringing.

He fits really well with the ML, Qin Yiheng, who is basically his polar opposite in some aspects. Qin Yiheng is very secure in himself, steadfast and headstrong, but also taciturn with low EQ. He doesn't bother with socializing if not necessary and rather keeps to himself. So Chu Yi complements him quite nicely as the younger man makes him open up more while Qin Yiheng gives Chu Yi a sense of security.

They balance each other out. As Qin Yiheng said when explaining why he decided to marry Chu Yi: They are suitable. I doubt he knew how right he was with that statement when he said it back then. But he sure was right.

To sum up, if you are in need of a smooth sailing feel-good novel that doesn't make you lose braincells due to unreasonable characters and plot points, look no more. This novel is the right one for you. <<less

I’M OBSESSED.

As well as diabetic now because the amount of sugar this novel had. Pure insanity.

I honestly can’t wrong this novel if you were reading it on the basis of wanting pure fluff & cute romance. Marriage of convenience isn’t exactly my favorite trope, but this didn’t have the crazy misunderstandings that would usually drive readers insane with frustration. I thought the build up to the main CP’s relationship was well-paced & reasonably realistic. Not to say it was perfect, but 99% there. I enjoyed the secondhand embarrassment &... more>> be real here—who in the right mind wouldn’t swoon over Qin Yiheng?

Those who disagree with me are liars. Qin Yiheng you will be the death of me if you were real.

Definitely a novel I’d reread more than once to get my fill of bone-crushing fluff. <<less

Awesome translation, a nice and lighthearted story! I never imagined that I would read a novel that isn't full of misunderstandings + solve things maturely (this story caught me really off-guard. Thinking that straightforwardness and bluntness about what you think to communicate are really the keys to a nice relationship). It was like a cake that you won't get tired of, to be fair I never noticed it was even dragged lmao.
