Xu Chuanchuan is a yuri novel writer who firmly believes herself to be as straight as a steel pipe. At one time, she even swore to herself, “I will never date my readers!”

Afterward, Xu Chuanchuan inadvertently slept with the tycoon ranked first on her donation list.

Later on, Xu Chuanchuan found out that said tycoon turned out to be her boss, and she regretted everything she had done.

Reader: “The Lord has stopped regularly updating recently. Is she busy?”

Xu Chuanchuan dared not reply truthfully to this question. While enduring her aching back, she responded: “I feel unwell, so I’ll be skipping releases for a day. /(ㄒoㄒ)/~~”

Xu Chuanchuan had been living a sweet and fulfilling life ever since she had secretly acquired a partner. However, it seems her body was becoming worse by the day…

One of my top 5 stories that I actually bookmarked. I've re-read it several times already... it is THAT good. I'm going to keep this short and sweet because there's countless other in-depth reviews already.

The translation is pretty exceptional and it made reading this infinitely more enjoyable so major thanks to the translator.

The story itself has trope-y facets to it. For instance, we have our cold and scary CEO who zeros in on the weak and nerdy employee. As the story progresses, the main characters themselves come to meet somewhere... more>> in the middle (in terms of personal growth). By this, I mean that the originally domineering boss shows her softer side and the little weakling is more assertive towards her love interest.

It is a very fleshed out story which makes it enjoyable to read. There isn't mindless droning on that the author just banged out on her keyboard. The side characters have their own rather interesting story. It's quite funny as well, which is always appreciated. Who doesn't want to laugh, am I right?

It's quite a lengthy story but I never found myself bored. If you want to spend a leisurely afternoon reading a good story, then this should fit the bill very nicely. <<less

This is honestly one of the best novels I’ve ever read, I loved it so much. I have at one point disliked almost every character in the novel, however I end up eventually liking them again so I guess it’s fine. At the beginning, I disliked Muring Shi, because of how much she messed around with Chuanchuan ... more>>
Spoiler

I started to seriously dislike her when she made chuanchuan do that thousand word praise and then read it out load and she recorded it, it also irked me when she was making fun of the green hair, but when the two finally start coming together, she got way better and I didn’t dislike her anymore

[collapse]

I also disliked Chuanchuans little sister
Spoiler

how spoiled she acted and her doing the live-streaming was super annoying, and how she didn’t feel even a tiny bit guilty that a creepy fan of her had scared the sh*t out of her sister really annoyed me. The thing that seriously got me tho was when chuanchuan confessed abt her relationship and her sister actually talked about how chuanchuan was so inferior to murong and how it’s weird that muring likes her. Like that’s your sister, come on. I liked her more when she supported their relationship tho, and I liked her a lot when she stood up to their father for chuanchuan

[collapse]

I liked ange at the start but she ended up getting on my nerves

Spoiler

when she obv liked Fang Qin (I liked her the entire time) it was super annoying that she thought she shouldn’t be in a relationship with her and after they had already had s*x she had run off like that, like imagine how that made her feel. However I was super glad when ange moved to S-City to be with fang qin so I didn’t dislike her anymore

I wish it was longer, I liked it so much.

I think I'd like the fictional author/MC Xu Chuanchuan's novels

It's very light and fluffy and I ended up identifying with the MC so hard. This was basically a wish fulfillment story for me.

There were 3 things I didn't like about it

Spoiler

her little sister getting bent after reading MC's books, the villain got overly punished, and MC's menstrual issues not being explained or resolved

It’s a juvenile story about two 26 year-old women slowly building a relationship. The entire premise is that one of them is a yuri author, while the other is a ceo who reads her work. The ceo is a tsundere who falls in love first and initiates the relationship by chapter 40.

Aside from the MC being indecisive and worrywart, and the FL being immature at some times, overall, the novel was good. There was some part where reading became uncomfortable to me so I nearly dropped this one.
Spoiler

When the MC rejected the FL, the FL hired a new assistant. Every night, the MC would hear strange noises besides the room that the new assistant was occupying. The MC misunderstood that this new assistant and FL were doing le*d stuff during the night. Turns out, it was the FL's cousin.

[collapse]

I liked how the story progresses. I just hoped that the side couples were given much story. Another thing,
Spoiler

Since the parents from the both side agreed with their relationship, I wonder how the people in the company reacted when they came out (if they did came out) since they're in a boss-subordonate relationship. But then, in the end, the MC became a full-time author, right?

[collapse]

That's the one thing that's lacking for me.

I must say....I don't know what shinanigans is the reader doing... Just because

Spoiler

the female lead rejected her she went like a s*umbag just in a week??? She brought a girl as her new assistant and kept comparing no rather than comparing it's more like she's telling to the female lead their similarities and keep doing le*d stuffs in the dorm where the female lead could hear it

[collapse]

I feel sorry for the female lead rather than to the boss.... Like what can she do she's straight, never been in love much more to same s*x so how can she just admit so suddenly that she was bent??? And by a boss like her who has many problems in personality much more 😂

Still the fluff and sweetness is there and the plot is not that deep but good for pass time but when you arrive at some certain chapters like this chapter around 48 or 47 you will feel your blood boil 😂 it doesn't even have next chapter yet so it made me wanna erase my Memories and question myself why did I had to read this unfinished 😂 <<less

This one is quite nice, but im only giving 4 stars. It got really boring by the end. The plot is developing so slow that I couldnt take it amymore.I never thought id feel thisnway to a novel with slightly over a hundred chapters considering ive read xuanhuans that has 2000+.

At chapter 90 they still havent come out to their parents and theres barely any chapters left so I guess thatbplot line will be sped thru and go dorectly to the HE. Im not against skipping the possible depressing stuff... more>> that can happen when comming out, but why did the aithor have to put so much emphasis on the possible relationship of their best friends. I already had to go through the angst of the main couple why would I care about annoying playing hard to get relationship of the side characters when the main couple still havent gone thru the hurdle of coming out. At first I was enjoying the fluff but now im just echausted after seeing only fluff and angst forbso many chapters with no substantial development to their relationship status.

It's worth the read at least if u like fluff, its kinda sweet but itsbnot really working for me. A lot of the things they get upset about with each other are things I dont really find offensive when it happens to me. So my sense of connection with the main couple really aint strong not to mention the side characters.

Anyways it a 7/10 for me. <<less

8/10 (Strong but not top tier)

Overall good progression and plot in general, without any arcs that feel particularly out of place. Relationship dynamics largely feel accurate to how the characters are portrayed, without any major instances of characters unexpectedly solely for plot advancement. However, some character traits could have been better conveyed through the story. The plot itself is relatively restrained, with drama beats usually resolving in subdued ways compared to other books where they might explode into larger consequences. Not a bad thing, simply a matter of taste.... more>> Side plots that were given noticable screen time or enough setup to make readers expect something were done acceptably.

Spoiler

Characters in general were acceptably deep. This is somewhat linked to the subdued drama, as characters like Murong Shi's father can't be pure s*um in order to match the tone of having drama not blow up while also not feeling like characters are being doormats. Another noteworthy example is Jiang Shaohua, who is sort of scummy but has his own principles and overall very quickly pivots from the initial impression of "oh, the shitty fiance who'll get slapped in the face" as circumstances are revealed (again still kind of scummy though). Aside from characters that are not really given screentime (although even Linda, who has a very minor role, is given a bit of an 'actually nice person' arc), Fragrant Citrus is probably the closest to a single dimensional character. She's given some potential depth but it's never really explored, which I think is overall fine since the characters we follow very much have reasons to not sympathize with her or look into her circumstances.

Most arcs were enjoyable to read without much in particular to comment on more specifically, but a few things are worth mentioning. Some character traits probably could've done with a bit more exploration or foreshadowing in the story. For example, Xu Changchang's self-deprecation and jumping-to-conclusions is fairly well established, but especially when combined with her rarely shown outbreaks of jealousy they can occasionally feel a little bit out of character. An easy example is the very brief "is she cheating" arc at the very end of the book (in comparison, the "is she cheating" arc where Murong Shi was hiding her meetings with the publishing lady felt relatively in character for her considering the circumstances and personality). I also think that while the subdued nature of the coming out arc made sense for the tone and length given to the arc, there were some setups that I was surprised never paid off - Jiang Shaohua never explictly finding out felt odd considering the multiple 'hints' Murong Shi ended up giving off during various plot arcs, and the company gossip sections felt like setup for a payoff that never came. Overall though, the plot progression was still enjoyable and these were minor issues.

Side plots were generally alright. There were two main subplots, one major and one minor. The minor one involving Xu Xiangxiang bending was honestly pretty decent; due to length there's only so much that it could accomplish but I feel like it was an interesting aside for a character I was given enough to like. The Fang Qin/Ange plot was alright. I think this was a case of trying to do too much while allocating too little screentime. We did get a complete arc and got to see the relationship grow, which is why I'm classifying it as alright, but I think for this arc to really work, we would've needed to get more shown on their mindsets and interactions over the course of the relationship.

This is a light read for me. It's not exactly a page turner though. It's like I'm just waiting for it to be over. It mostly focuses on Chuanchuan's work as an author and I find it lacking when it comes to Murong and the storyline. Their problems consist of slight jealousy, conflict with that citrus girl, and coming out to family and that's it. Also, Murong is described to be aloof, beautiful, confident and super rich. But the author makes her character kind of questionable when she decided to... more>> toy with chuanchuan at first using her pseudonym "Passerby Shi". I mean, is she that free and bored? She's not interested in Chuanchuan at the time so I don't get why she would make such effort. Rich and aloof people won't do such boring things like toying with her. They would focus on business.. And the author makes chuanchuan seem so mediocre that I feel like Murong is really is such a fool for taken a liking to her coz her character isnt really interesting? She isnt that funny either for murong to be amused by her person. IDK. Like, she was described to be cute sometimes that she attracts people but is described that she has thick waist, no b**bs, poor, low position in the company, mediocre writing skills, fizzy hair and over all, has no talent. Atleast the author can make her a god level author instead of ange so it balances out and even if she's not as stunning as murong, the author can also not put her down so much to the point of saying that without her being stubborn that she doesn't want murong to spend so much and take advantage of her, murong won't like her. Lmao. She's like the most ordinary out of all of them. She's too bland for my liking. I know, appearance doesn't matter so much but personality should still count right? Well, murong is still sweet though for falling for her..

Spoiler

Also, Ange is so frustrating with how she treats Fang Qin. What's the point? It's not like she suffered so much trauma from that citrus girl not to trust her. I almost pity Fang Qin for almost chasing her when she keeps on running away. Well atleast she did one good thing and atleast moved for her in the end. And xuanxuan suddenly became bent at the end, I understand if it's because she only doesn't realize it.. But they make it sound like people can really bend for reading GL like no it's not like that 💀

[collapse]

Overall,

Spoiler

the story is so slow and mundane at first and on the few last chapters, the author summarized three years worth of happenings in few chapters. What about murong's company? How high did it reach? Did she became the president from being the vice president? How about her dad? He has such strong opinion but ended up accepting just bec of murong's mom? And chuanchuan's father is more stubborn that a tradional rich man who only likes money? Should be the other way around right? It revolves on chuanchuan's novel to the point where she doesn't look like she's working a day job anymore. Also, This story was written is 2018 so how can they not be married in other countries and do IVF for a kid? The author make it sound like it's in the 80's and no such technology and thing exists. There's many plotholes here including how small her salary is, etc etc.

[collapse]

That's all, so if you're bored and read most of the God like Yuris out there, you can kill boredom by reading this <<less

After reading this, I found this Nobel Prize to be good, but at first their relationship was limited to boss-subordinate, and the development of their relationship was very slow.

But when it reaches chapter 40, their relationship progresses very fast, too fast even.

Overall, I don't mind anything. It's just that most of the words are indecent.... and I don't like that all
