His dad wasnt in the picture, his mom passed away, and he was left to his aunr (who is very kind to him but is mentally weak). Because they owe other family members money, the family members push for the aunt to remarry and for ML to quit school and work full time. Even though his grades are great and he already works part time.

1. I was surprised when a new friend of MC starts hanging out with him at some kind of camp/competition thing and when MC notices that the ML dislikes the guy, instead of playing some sort of weird placating of both parties or discrediting MLs feelings for this random new person, he simply.. Stopped hanging out with the new guy. When you think about it, irl this makes sense. If you notice that a random acquaintance and a close friend weren't getting along or had beef, you'd normally prioritizes the feelings of your friend or at least choose not to hang out with all 3 of you. Except in bl novelland this is not normal and I'm used to misunderstandings being made from these sorts of situations. Especially when these other guys usually turn out to be bad people and the MC just pretend like ML is irrationally jealous (like I said this did not happen here. He cut the guy off). I was pleasantly surprised by this.

2. When that other guy finds out about ML feelings for MC, it doesnt suddenly become a dog blood drama. ML refuses to let his confession come from a third party and calmly confesses first. Very admirable.

3. ML is very patient with MC after the confession and gives him space and time to think about it. Hes also very positive about the whole thing and is just content that MC did not reject him immediately. And he repeats multiple times that if MC rejected him, he would just take a break and try another way of pursuit. A gentleman all the way. Even their first kiss was asked for.

4. MC takes ML feelings very seriously and deeply ponders his own feelings. He doesnt freak out or belittle his feeling and he doesnt acr s*upid about it (which frustrates me with alot of other MCs that get pursued. It's as if they forget these MLs that like them have feelings too. Like they would not react like this if it were a girl. The dramatic reaction is usually used for comedy but I dislike it).

5. MCs friends are kind and even when he goes to them for advice they are very open minded. Both of their families also had decent reactions it wasnt terrible.

6. The thing with MLs father who comes back later is handled well. ML, in accordance with his character, neither rejects or embraces this s*um father of his, who had not known about his existence. I do kinda blame the dad though because he held up MLs mothers future by never telling her he didn't want to get married. In the she was pregnant while single and she knew if she was with him still he'd just tell her to get an abortion. So while dad didn't know abt his birth, it was his own damn fault for being irresponsible. I dont believe he would have been that great of a dad even if he had raised ML up simply because dad isn't the type of person who likes being tied down. So MLs behaviour, which is neither warm nor cold, is perfect. MC also supports his decisions all the way

I only wish Bian Jin Juan would have shown a little bit of warmth towards his dad and family, the guy was trying really hard and the grandparents were so accepting of him. They were truly respectful of him and not trying to impose.

MC is extremely bad at English. He's had many private tutors but still has poor grades. ML becomes MC's tutor and helps MC to do well enough to get into the top college.

The story never says how MC ended up possessing the AI device. However, he does stop possessing it after physically visiting ML's home.
