I managed to find the novel and mtl from beginning to end and all I can say is this: do not waste your time. Like the ending is honestly not satisfying at all and I wish that I can get my time back from reading this. There are just some parts in the novel that kind of had me questioning the female lead because she was introduced as someone who was sensitive to others emotion, barely had any attachments, and a "reasonable" person. Instead, the author creates the most selfish... more>> FL I have honestly ever seen under the excuse that she has no attachments and is "reasonable" due to her tragic past. Like there were moments that I was like damn this lady is so rude and flimsy.

She becomes interested in a celebrity and literally tells the ML (her husband) that she wants to 'chase' the celebrity. Like she just does it on a whim and obviously the ML panics, but he lets her because he knows she is going to lose interest. And guess what, she does! After seeing the celebrity acting bratty, she starts to lose interest and the nail in the coffin was when one of the celebrity's ex-lovers comes by (its implied her husband arranges it) and kisses him. Afterwards, she full on ghosts the dude with no explanation even though she showed "interest" in the beginning.

It's literally an open ending and not even a hopeful one. Like literally no one is happy. At this point the ML is madly in love with her and the FL is just empty straight up. She just travels to fill the void and make her feel happy, but it literally does not help. Anyways, it ends with them being in the Taoist temple that she was at in the beginning and she hasn't gained her memory back. It's been a whole year and she legit does not care for the ML. He's just there (ig that's karma on him since he acted like that with her). The ML at this point realizes that he is too late and he lost the wife that he loved and will probably never get her back so he needs to decide whether he should wait or leave. He initially thinks of leaving, but then he full on decides to wait for her to love him back or regain her memories. A few days after their visit to the temple, she leaves again to travel while he stays back in their home waiting for her. Like honestly this is just not a happy ending because both are miserable. Like I usually don't mind if the ML is miserable, but even the FL is miserable because she literally cannot make emotional connections with other people and is just a void. Like she really needs therapy from what I have read.

Anyways I think that the author just full on gave up on the novel, that's why it was choppy and just abruptly ended with such a bad ending. Like if the author wanted, they could have fully developed it and it wouldn't have been so bad. Anyways I gave this a 2 star just because it started nicely and then fell off from there. Honestly do not waste your time reading this. <<less

This is amazing! Some people only realize the treasure they have once they lose it. I hope she never got her memory back, divorced her husband, and be with someone who treasured her (preferably not Lu Yu). I loved how tortured Lu Yu is with every single normal thing she does. Once she forgot Lu Yu and her feelings for him, she literally had no expectations from him so she never went out of her way to try to spend more time with him or ask anything from him which... more>> kills him slowly on the inside. Hehehe... I enjoy this so much... <<less

It's so funny how those who have only read a few chapters love it and those who have read to the end hate it.

The story isnt bad but it's wrongly marketed as a romance. Nobody was falling in love here. There should be a tag indicating there isn't a happy ending at the least.

Honestly, even if I don't judge it as being a romance, it's not that interesting as a novel either. Every story should have a point but what was the point of this one? There is no one... more>> who likes an MC who doesn't even show basic human decency/sympathy to someone struggling right in front of her. Why would they think an average reader would have tastes like that? This obviously needs a special tag or warning.

I don't like how inhumane MC was to him. She wasn't even treating him as a normal human anymore. I mean, the MC treated him as a toy she could use and throw to the side when she was done, ignored till needed again. Even if you don't love someone you don't have the right to treat them so badly, the logic being used by the author of 'She only treats those she loves, well' makes no sense. She just became someone worse than the ML originally was. <<less

Holy frick. I wish I didn't have to leave such a low review, but the ending was just so sudden and bad. It was my fault for not seeing the tragedy tag since I read it directly on the website but I had to come here to leave a review.

First, the good: its a story about valuing what you have. It really moves some angsty feelings in people, with that sense of bottomless revenge.

But that 'revenge' sentiment becomes one of those stories where the FL and ML torture each other... more>> for the entire story.

It completely unrealistic that the FL is so heartless but "logical" and "respectful" that she gives no sht about anything except her friend and her dog. The actions she does, especially near the end like not sparing any thought for her husband, who she lives with and is in a legal relationship with, is completely out of scope even with the characters personality. Theres not even a shred of decency or humanity left. For example, the fact she didn't renew his lantern at the temple in the second to last chapter?? Even thought she felt a bit of affection for him?? It makes no sense. She has a large amount of money, and hes still her husband, it seemed so randomly heartless and unreasonable and done simply to close off the plot abruptly.

Speaking of the ending--I really do feel like I just wasted hours of my time reading this. What was the point of describing all these random events and his efforts and everything just for the ending to be so vague and abrupt?? If youre going to do a tragedy, commit to it. If youre not, then wrap it up correctly. This ending was neither, it was like the author had no idea what to do so they just left it in the exact same situation. I was left without feeling sad, or anything related to the story. I only felt some shock and disappointment from the fact I wasted my time.

Why did I read all those other chapters when I could have left the story at Chapter 5 and gained the same result.

Overall, this is 46 chapters of self-torture you can read if you really want to feel miserable without any relief at all. Just like the characters in the story! <<less

ok actual review now that ive gotten this far. So at first I thought ML was a jerk for neglecting her but it seems that he did make an effort to be there and not just ghost her literally. Still a jerk though. I've finally gotten a grasp of what the story is gonna be (i can smell ml's groveling, heck, it has already started at ch12) although it's a bit shitty of him to hold onto FL after she lost interest in him, which just shows how much he... more>> thinks the world revolves around him and doesnt think much of fl's affection, since there were some narratives where it said he couldnt believe she's acting like she is currently as of chapter 13, but I think it'd be a real fun ride to see him regretting cus FL IS NOT BACKING DOWNN she talks back, stands up for herself, and knows her worth. It is kind of weird however how before she lost her memory she was so head over heels for him because it seems like she isn't the type of person to do that. Maybe there are some more story to it and I'm excited!! I love it already. Thank you translator team for always giving us updates almost everyday love you guys

While I understand the MC and can somehow see myself in her, about being disconnected and disinterested once feelings are consumed, the ending left a bitter taste.

Here ML was not evil, he did not disrespect, betray the MC and even tried to rectify himself a lot, but MC remained utterly unmoved. While being unmoved is fine, but she has a basic disregard for his health. Atleast ML never treated her poorly and infact was very meticulous, but even when he was sick, she just simply disregarded his body and asked... more>> to sleep with her.

This later ended up in a hospital trip. Even then MC was least bothered. Being uninterested is different from being human.

Here MC lacked any kind of basic human courtesy towards ML while she could treat random strangers properly.

While I don't feel the need for a happy ending but the entire way MC treated her husband was bad. <<less

It has a disappointing end. I was full of hope not until the end phrases in the conclusion. No one is happy. I initially thought they would work their relationship even with so much resistance between them, but with the FL's personality, I should've known better it won't end happily for the both of them.

If you're someone hopeful and wants to know how people can rekindle their love, don't expect this story to be the one. Or you'll end up like me, disheartened.

On the bright side, this story showed real feelings of detachment. I frequently relate to FL's thoughts and ways. But that in itself is not good entirely. Having no attachment to almost anything and letting go easily can be practical. But if you have lingering feelings of wanting to love but don't have the capacity to reciprocate that love. You'll end up like the FL in the story.

This story was honestly a new door I discovered with Chinese novels. I never would've thought they would write stories like this (or am I just a sucker for happy endings that's why I was surprised to have my hopes crushed on the ending scene). So if you're looking for a story with a happy end, this is not it. Turn your eyes away and look for something else.

I'm on Chapter 11. So far it's pretty good. ML ignore FL and treats her coldly. After a car accident the FL loses her memories of ML and her life with him. Soon ML starts realizing that he had neglected something special. I want to read more to see where this is going. We can already see changes in ML. If there is one thing I enjoy it's characters with actual development.

that it was going to be she had the temple swap their emotions so her husband could understand, and when she got to the temple it would be reversed. Or even she found a partner that made her happy.

I got to say this was a horrible story, the couple were nothing good, the guy, too busy with work and neglected his wife, she lost her memory of her husband and the love she had for him and turned into a none feeling person, like him. There wasn't any cute memories or sweet moments, just a waste of time

I loved the angst and the grovelling but the ending was so abrupt and heartless it was a form of self torture that made me absolutely regret ever picking this novel up

I really liked the theme about how you don’t know what you have unless you’ve lost it and once broken it can never be the same again honestly FL was someone I scarily related a lot to the level of detachment from everyone and caring about only yourself and her one friend n dog left me unsettled I loved... more>> how she put herself first and never budge but sometimes her behaviour towards the ML was so cruel and cold hearted it hurt like she didn’t care if hes sick if hes hurt broken basically exists or not complete lack of even basic human empathy also his character development and then his eventual blackening and losing his soul was gut wrenching to read I think it’s cuz I had false hope things will get better that the ending was more disappointing

though I pity the ML he reaped what he sowed and got back tenfold still I don’t think he deserved that ending at the least a divorce and both learning to live with themselves like anything positive maybe it’s cuz im someone who likes happy endings so both of them just getting into a cycle of self destruction and torture doesn’t sit right with me <<less
