Le Zhi, the little princess of country Li, is charming and beautiful, and she looked like a begonia.

However, once her country was destroyed, she crawled out of the hell on earth by stepping on the bones of the dead and was brought back to the enemy’s country Qi by Huo Xu, a childhood sweetheart and a thankless wretch, who had entered the country Li as a prince sent to be held as a hostage from a young age.

Huo Xu looked at her with affection, “Zhizhi, help me bring the Crown Prince down. You will be my only Empress in the future.”

Le Zhi pretended to put down her blood feud and smiled to agree.

Huo Du, the Crown Prince of the country Qi, looked like a banished immortal but has a disability in his right leg. He has a sly and ruthless personality with insanely evil behavior.

One day, his imperial father bestowed him a marriage and gave him the princess of the subjugated country.

Huo Du sneered one after another. Huo Xu’s childhood sweetheart? Beauty trap? Tut-tutted, his imperial younger brother was really willing.

He raised his hand to stroke the white cat on his lap lightly, “Oh, you have a toy.”

Huo Xu was a person with a noble and benevolent character on the outside but with an insatiable greed for power, position, and beauty on the inside.

The position of the Crown Prince, his beloved childhood sweetheart… All these were within his grasp.

He was very satisfied.

… Until he was tied to a prison post.

And his imperial elder brother curled his lips and handed the knife to his sweetheart and said with a smile, “Kill him. You can stab as many knives as you want.”

While he was frightened, he saw Huo Du turn the tip of the knife towards his heart and slowly said to Le Zhi, “Or do you want to kill me first? That’s fine too…”

Huo Xu’s eyes trembled. Did he hear it wrong, or his imperial brother is crazy?

One of my new fav stories. I’ve felt so many ups and downs while reading and I felt all of the characters (except, strangely enough, the third prince) compelling. Even the emperor I found fascinating as a villain. He’s a shite father but his mentality and motivations are logical and makes sense which is why I appreciate him as a big bad. The main couple are so sweet. No complaints with either of them

I'm done!!! It was a good read and it really mainly focus on the main couple. Altho there's a lot of thing left unanswered or that could've been answered it was still good overall. The pace, character development of the two and their feelings for each other is good.

Agree with some of the commenters here. It's just meh. I'm at chapter 80 and this is the longest it took me to reach this chapter, literally weeks as I've been putting it off. Even though I've been trying to come back to the novel every so often, every time I do it just couldn't hold my attention for long. The translations are good but the story and the characters are lackluster and run-of-the-mill. It feels like nothing major has happened in the story. The love story progression is also... more>> quite weak. At chapter 80 (out of 99), the couple should have already gotten together properly and taking care of the main plot/villain, but no such thing here.

TL;DR version: The novel synopsis on this site is more interesting than the story itself. <<less

Not gonna lie, this story feels like the original timeline, book, etc., to the transmigration, reborn and/or regression novels.

It's an enjoyable short and classic take on the trope "enemies to lovers".

The translations are clear, comprehensive and with minimal mistakes, the flow of the story is not too fast but the climax did feel rushed. However, because it was comparably shorter than the rest of the novels of this genre, it's understandable.

I, personally, enjoy cliches and I am particularly good at suspending reality so a few plot holes were easy for... more>> me to let go of so that I could enjoy the story. But I understand not that everyone does, so here are some of the most glaring to me; a) lack of personality from everyone else except the main characters, b) the over the top OP ML, c) the ridiculously useless villains that barely did nothing to the protagonists, d) the story of amnesia of that one maid that contributed nothing but filler except for the introduction of that character who barely did anything.

And here are some things that I truly liked; 1) the female lead is not too OP, she does mistakes and she isn't a master at scheming others from morning, she is basically her own enemy but trauma can do that to a person, 2) the flirty, teasing interactions that grew into the dynamic of the main couple, 3) the core of the female lead didn't change [at least, not too much], 4) the decision and backstory of that one sister-in-law was a nice touch, it helped to show the female lead that her own views were biased, but I did feel sorry for the kid, 5) the growth of the romance was entertaining, 6) the author's little theater was very funny. <<less

I absolutely loved it!

Everything about the story was rather cliché but the writing highlights it all.

The story's focus was razor-sharp on the main character's relationship without failing to build up the plot around them and highlight some side characters.

... more>> Finally, a novel where you get plenty of perspective from both leads and the progression of the relationship was natural and didn't skip steps. Their suspicion, doubt, hesitance and slowly building up to trust and dependence on each other were so bittersweet and rewarding to read!

The ML is a bit generic amongst your typical cold calculating scheming type of ML with a tragic childhood backstory, it's the MC here that really shines through. Her character growth almost makes you want to shed some tears and I loved her assertiveness on her road to revenge.

That being said, it's not like ML didn't go through some changes himself and they make a very adoring, overly sweet, and sticky couple. <<less

The story was pretty interesting I just wished it was better fleshed out. So there are plot holes and events and characters are sometimes barely described. It was more focused on feelings of ML and FL. Loved the ML, described as a lunatic, liked the FL a bit less as she was crying in almost every chapter. Still she was very strong and kind and somewhat smart. The romance was great though a bit awkward at the beginning. Still gave it a 4 because it was quite entertaining to read... more>> and quality of translation. <<less

This story has good start but near the end (like after chap 60 or so) , it kind off lost its charm. If you are looking for a novel to pass time, you can go for it but I did not find it engaging. The character of princess is shown to be very strong in the beginning but as the story continues, she became a crybaby. She cries at very turn. I understand that she's been through lot but sometimes, it feels too much. Moreover, second half of the story... more>> is just trying to focus on how much they love each other at every turn and does not have much plot to offer.

You can go for it if you want but I will not recommend it. <<less
