How do I say this... This story is a bit meh for me. There is a lack of world building and a good number of plot holes, a few of which the author seemed to have wanted to patch up through a half-assed explanation that barely had any substance behind it and had me feeling like someone is trying to dupe me.

Such is the case with the Leia flowers. In the beginning it is said that they are easy to raise and thus the MC is tasked to take care of them. Later on they are suddenly so difficult to raise that only the MC is able to grow them properly. And this is supposedly due to his Sigma status which has some history with the Leia people and flower. Frankly, it feels like the author pulled this out of their butt, especially because we don't get any further information pertaining that end.

Then there is the ex bf that dropped from S-level to B-level after being crushed by the ML. It was said to be irreversible. But suddenly, he was back to S-level which was explained later to be due to him taking illegal drugs to re-raise his level. I have the nagging suspicion that the ex being back at S-level was a mistake and the readers pointed that out to the author, forcing the author to come up with that excuse. It felt that half-assed to me.

While reading this I kept feeling that something is not quite right or doesn't match up. It's hard to pinpoint what exactly caused me to feel that way. Maybe it was the already mentioned lack of world building and plot holes or maybe it was the characters' feelings/actions that did not quite make sense to me.

The MC, especially felt a bit out of tune imo. His character felt a bit blurry. While he did not fall into any stereotypical mold which can be considered good, it was also difficult to pinpoint his exact character traits. He is a damsel in distress at times because he is physically weak and has an underprivileged status. But he is mentally strong as he doesn't give up easily even when he is struggling. What gets me, however, is how innocent and naive he can be when he used to be in a relationship in his past life where they did try to get intimate and used to talk and interact with prostit**es in the slums no problem, even acknowledging that he had listened to them talking about debauched topics just fine. How come in this life he is all blushes and acts like a scared rabbit everytime there is some s**ual tension between him and the ML? At times he acts like a sheltered young master who doesn't know much about the world and at other times he is normal and level-headed. He confuses me.

As for the ML... His character seems like a green flag. But when he loses control, his actions are a red flag. He does, however, try to control himself, even going to far as to self harm to keep himself from doing something that could harm the MC. However, his inhibitions are quickly dropped as soon as he gets the go-ahead from the MC and doctor. His cold, abstinent and reserved image was easily discarded to make way for the jealous, barely in control horndog who uses every opportunity to stick close to and take advantage of the MC.

That said, the plot wasn't too original nor too boring. But the author did cut corners. This is especially apparent at the end as it was rushed and kind of abrupt. I did not bother to read the extra chapters as soon as I saw that I was about to read a kindergarten AU. I don't really like AUs or side CP in the extras as I didn't sign up for that when I chose to read the novel based on the summary. <<less

I feel so bad for the “s*um gong” that I have to drop this. Did he even do anything wrong? I really wish he had ended up at the ML, because out of everyone in this webnovel, he’s the one who deserves a happy ending the most : (

I'm all for passive protagonists, but I can't when they're obviously strong but they're always being relegated to damsel-in-distress status, for some reason.

I also don't like how the ML is like this boy, this young boy, this obviously fcking young boy. WE GET IT! You like em young, pe*o. Daym.

... more>> Side characters are one dimensional, They're not endearing, and rather obnoxious. They have no outside motivation but to gossip, or circle around ML and MC, or become exposition tool.

Su Liang has potential but I don't know, author just can't write him deep enough. He's so totally bland. His defining traits is to go pale, or to blush, no in-between. Someone check his blood pressure, cause he's either anemic or have a heart condition with this back and forth.

ML, urgh, his personality is to be h**ny, be angry, be angry-h**ny, brood, broody-h**ny. I'm tired. Y'all get it. He thinks with his pen*s. <<less

It's been a while since I have written any review for a novel but after reading this novel my mind changed entirely. At first I was hesitant to read this novel because of some reviews but after waiting days without finding a novel that truly hit the spot in my yaoi heart I decided to give this novel chance. And boy, I was really happy with my decision. I think the ml's obsession with the MC is somewhat healthy compared to some gongs in obsessive novels. Although the ML is a cold superior in the army, Infront of the MC he truly become human laying everything bear in his heart. At the end I am happy with the novel's ending. And I truly appreciate the effort of the two translator's who did their utmost best to bring out the true essence of the novel. Like I said instead of reading the comments of a novel you should give a chance to a novel, otherwise you might never know a true gem hiding among a pile of mud. <<less

2.5/5. This novel felt like the author was trying to add every possible popular trope into one story but not build up to it or connect it in a satisfying way.

MC was starts off as a "beta" but lo and behold has a secret identity that makes him the most sought after person on the planet. He also has special powers due to this identity conveniently which make him all the more special and irreplaceable for ML. Normally having a special MC is fine, but please make it make sense.... more>> The MC should do something or be someone that deserves it.

ML is the typical strong, scary, cold, and notorious but dotes on the MC partner (also conveniently has a past with the MC). Otherwise, he doesn't have much of a personality.

"s*um Gong" is written as a terrible person who deserves a fate worse than death but honestly isn't that bad until I guess the author also realized this too and decided they needed to take drastic measure to prove the s*um gong was a bad person by making him do some crazy things.

World building was near nonexistent. Romance also felt very forced. Some of the extras were better than the actual story.

Like some of the other reviews say, don't be tricked by the cute cover and summary. There are some seriously dark and messed up parts in the novel, which was one of the only (not sure though if it was good or bad) stand out points of the novel. Make sure to look at the tags carefully before choosing to read this. <<less

It's a very cute story if you're looking for an ABO danmei! But don't expect any real conflict because MC is a super mary sue character and it turns out later that he's actually special. I don't think I was really able to tell how the relationship between him and ML developed? Maybe it was more of an attraction thing at first, but I can definitely see why other readers would be unhappy about their relationship or the world-building (because there wasn't really any).

Also felt so... more>> bad for the s*um gong...I've read a lot of s*um gong novels, and with what he had done in the past life, he might've gotten a second chance if he were in a different novel, especially because he quickly becomes regretful after MC is gone in their past life. Definitely not as bad as other s*um gongs, but his ambiguous relationship with his childhood friend/fiancee made it harder to want redemption for him. <<less

Don't take my 3 star rating as not good review, its just that among many stories I rated 4 stars, it falls behind a lot because I have handfuls of complains that I can't ignore... I love both MC and ML ok but the whole premise of the story just pisses me off...

Like one of the reviewer said, it lacks world building, its doesn't feel engaging at all because I'm having a hard time building the world on my own imagination without the story's assistance. There are a lot of... more>> blank spots that author just left out and didn't bother to explain that makes me too lazy to elaborate each. It started really good ok but as the story goes on it slowly dies plus with the rush ending that didn't made me feel satisfied at all...

The ex? The guy is a total victim but it doesn't mean he can get away with anything, he is a complete idiot that doesn't know how to use his brain at all. He's a shame to all alphas, really. But he could actually have a better ending but author decided to villainize him then made him a madman with no return. He could suffer for all his sins but I can't accept how he shoulders most of the sufferings when the ones who should suffer the most are the Lu and Ning family who doesn't even treat him as a person but as a tool taking advantage of his dumb brain. I kinda feel bad for him before his madness because he could be still a good friend with MC if he only let go his past obsessions but sadly he's s*upid... (I actually agree with stellar_soul's comment about the ex)

About MC... I was actually expecting for more back story about him and if he is connected with the Leias but left unexplained! Gosh what a miss opportunity for more depth!

Didn't even give the extras that could actually fill the story! Like I want to meet their baby and how they are as a parent considering their situation! Xiao Huan and Black Mamba too! There's a foreshadowing between them but it was left out!!! Goodness, author even forgotten about Su Nuan's husband, like what happen to him during the attack? Where is he? And he's even a rare good guy coming from the Lu family! Gosh author even made it like MC has a longing regret about his sister's death in the past life but it didn't even shows... <<less

I love it! I love it so much. The ending was so sweet

tbh I guess in the prev lifetime (looking at it without any hate) I would think that the ex and the MC was a victim of circumstance and they truly did love each other (spoiler) but the ex was so weak and was so incapable of protecting MC. He was easily manipulated, easily tricked, and is so weak that he can't do anything but succumb to the family pressure. But I guess he did truly love MC.

but in... more>> the second lifetime, that regret made him a madman. MC became his white moonlight but he was still the same weak man.

aside from that, I love the MC and ML. I love how they have history together even before MC became an omega. It was kinda slow burn? I guess lmao. But ML was so polite and mature (well there is quite the age gap but it was not mentioned how much) that when he realized he had feelings for MC, he asked (asked!!) to court him. So sweet and so without misunderstandings. Though before that, MC was actually already misunderstanding becoz of past u know.

ALSO MY FAVORITE PART OF ALL is that pheromone dependency is always mentioned. It was one of the tricks used by the wife of the ex to the ex so that he would stay with her/him (not sure). But in the MC and ML case they also had pheromone dependency (it turns out it was normal in couples) but when the MC differentiated it turns out he was more powerful (not just matching but more!!) than the ML. THEREFORE it was the ML who developed the dependency. And it was freaking cute and hilarious how ML uses this excuse just to eat MC's tofu. And MC knows that ML is just pretending but he gets soft and just lets him do what he wants lmao so cute <<less

actually, if you consider the setting, I won't say the ML "assault" MC. its been stated several times that they DO have animalistic behavior, after all. idk if saying this is allowed, but I kinda imagine it works the way my ADHD works... do I want it to be that way? no. can I stop it, tho? also no. but yeah, this is my personal view, everyone can judge it differently...

but one thing on ch55 (or maybe 56?) that really caught my attention: when ML apologize to MC for being... more>> domineering, he said "sorry, I was out of control." instead of "sorry, I like you too much" like he wanted to, is a huge green flag to me.

he's admitting its HIS own fault, instead of blaming it on the feelings, which eventually would burden the other party and urge them to respond even if they're not ready at the moment..

ML is actually very clear headed and consent aware when he could get a handle on his rationality... idk... but that sentence left some kind of impression on me. because not many ppl/love interest would actually say that.

so I'm leaving a 5 for now.

edit: wow. I didnt expect im dropping the rating so fast. I dont understand what's author playing at.

at chapter 60, MC talked to his ex about how he realized he never really loved him in the first place. very rationally and very calmly.

and then he kiss ML, admittedly he's in distress. okay, I can accept that this act of intimacy was done under stress.

but then... when ML advance, he kept refusing and wanting to run away, making it feels so uncomfortable, super dubious, to reader.

but then again I cant help but recall that MC already admit, atleast to himself, that he DOES have feelings for ML... do you understand how disgusting it feels like when your thought process is just like those ppl blaming SA victims? Overall a good read, refer to huaxieismylife’s review. I think the N farms plot helped to tie everything together, and allowed the leads to resolve all the villains in one fell swoop. Feelings wise, I think the falling in love part felt rather sudden, kind of like love at first sight, but with not much of a reason, just bc the MC was the first to not be scared of and show concern for him. My biggest gripe is the ML is too aggressive, even disregarding the dr’s advice bc... more>> he can’t control his lust/pheromones around MC. Fun, great read! All your favorite tropes done right. There's really nothing new in the story, but the execution felt satisfying. MC and ML's relationship development wasn't hurried and you get to see them work together. I do wish we got the uncensored H-scenes, but there's a lot of really toothache-inducing sweet scenes in the story to make up for it, , I guess???

It was just a sweet, satisfying read without melodramatic misunderstanding between MC and ML.

I would give it full stars if not for the extras and the ending. I feel it’s bit unsatisfying but alas this is still a good read.

The cover is too cute for the bloody content. As admitted by the author this has old-style taste.

The story has a lot of tropey stuff actually. Especially when it comes to characters, like the ex is so tropey that it's insane, the way he was treated, the main cast and the villains too. Quite cliche characters that do cliche stuff. But if we skip the most obvious train of events when it comes to relationship development between the two mains there is a good chunk of story that is not... more>> bad, at least considering the world-building that has its' own structure of sorts.

Since evryone is discussing LZZ, I think I'll add my own vision on the situation. I do consider it a bad move to make him so cliche, but actually he sounds like a 1-cell brain when it comes to green tea friend with his tactics, it's as if he is incapable of thinking and his IQ drops so hard. He is so naive to the point that it hurts and also it feels illogical. You know why? Probably because the scene at the beginning with marriage and the later explanations feel forced. At first LZZ went through tremendous changes, he knew that Lu family obstructed them from living normally.. So why would he think they will let SL go if he comes back? It's like a mature man, supposedly, returns to his low-IQ state. In this life he does the same cliche dumb stuff like in last life, as if what he's done is not enough. Also in my opinion it's not the point whether LZZ is a s*umbag or not and that it would have been interesting to make them work. But that SL came to terms with himself that 'love' is not enough to support their relationship. It doesn't mean he did not love, somewhere he mentions it himself, but this love brought him pain only. Even when he stopped loving the attention of another person was simply deadly. If you noticed there is a lot of emphasis from SL before he even started to change that he is a BETA. He felt like no one else this huge gap between them. Because he's a beta others don't support their relationship, which put pressure on them. I don't mention the most obvious thing - pheromone allergy, which prevented them from being intimate. Both degradated mentally and physically. Maybe that first and fresh love was precious at the moment, but it could not survive. But I must admit I dislike when exes like that who chase their wives go crazy and never return to sanity. Although it should have added to the character? Like regret and grief. But again, he had dreams and maybe he did not get all info he still did the same sh*t as previous life.

Well, outside of this cliche mess of the relationships the other part of the story was interesting in a way. But is it enough to support the novel? Up to you. <<less

In the first half, the reborn MC is emotionally strong and resolute and novel was a light read, 5 stars.

However, the last part of the novel went downhill for me, 3 stars -

  • the MC became a sobbing, weak, hormonal mess whenever the ML was around, yet in a few brief sentences the MC was totally OP - he dismantled all the bombs when no one was paying attention, he healed all the mentally sick people - without any further detail/effort by the author to describe what the MC does.
  • Also, the omega abduction/s*ave-trafficking-organ-trafficking/institutionalized mu*der/cannibalism (reminded me of Cloud Atlas story arc, yuck) plot was too heavy.
  • The villains - the whiny clingy omega and the s*umbag alpha ex - just got worse and worse until they were unbearable (s*um ex became a crazed serial mu*derer).
  • plot lines were dropped: leiya flowers, sigma powers, etc. Would have been nice if author explained how MC's powers could heal desperate cases, and leiya flowers were developed into

Yeah, no, I don't feel sorry for him. Yeah he wasn't that bad in the beginning, just, well, scummy and very much not a good boyfriend, but at the end he's horrifying and deserves his fate. Yeah, he's tormented by visions of his past life, yeah, his life is not so perfect with his manipulative family and yeah, he didn't get the guy. BUT NONE OF THAT EXCUSES WHAT HE DOES IN THE END! MTL'd it. Like per normal some of the gender terms where off but once you read enough MTL I swear you gender swap automatically which sucks when u switch back to BG worlds once in a while LOL.

Cute story ngl a simple quick read probably wouldn't sit down to re read it but I enjoyed the MC ML and side characters even the antagonists weren't that bad of characters in terms of writing.

It has been a while that I read this story. So many details I can't remember.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story! The romance was beautiful. Slowly, but in a very pleasant way and pacing.

ML is a tragic person. Because he is super powerful, he suffered a lot. He can't find an Omega as strong as him, that can soothe his mental illness. MC is also a poor guy, that suffered a lot growing up. They healed eachother. Both are really powerful and so sweet when they were together, a very... more>> well matched couple.

The side character, the lover in MC's previous life, was very tragic as well. If he was written in a more likeable way, I would have felt super sorry for him. But he was quite s*upid imo and of course he blackened and tried to force and harm MC. <<less

Read it all including extras. Pretty straightforward story. I used mtl to read it. Some parts I had to translate myself with what I thought was happening but it's easy to parse through. Overall, I wasn't shocked by any of the twists and turns. The romance between MC and ML was pretty straightforward and without much drama which I like. It was cute. The twist with MC's ex was interesting. But nothing truly shocking happened.
