hesitating between 3 and 4 stars,

in my opinion the romance plot derailed the initial vibe of the series, and the attraction between the main couple feels a bit forced. Gu was better single.

everything outside of that aspect is really enjoyable and a fun read.

... more>> it just felt like it went a bit down in quality despite still being really enjoyable, and later introduced recruits are a bit rushed to get more screentime for the main couple.

I know I'm dragging it on but more company interactions instead would have made it into an easy top 10.

also I'm a bit sad there's no real explanation about the system at all, would have been a great arc.

you can skip them entirely it feels like badly written smut, which is a shame because the jeweller and rich dude are actually interesting characters.

This is a gem!!! The story has lots of the common trope in danmei, cdrama, but it delivers it properly without any loose end!

Yes, some part is bit fast (especially the last one), but overall still a great one.

There are also some flaws, like MC and ML relationship is not really detailed, but I do love the growth from strangers to lovers.

In addition, we still don’t know how he got the system, but alas, let’s pretend that it’s the golden finger

A satisfying quick read.

I think the real main character isn't the MC with his gossip system or the CEO ML. The real main character is Sun Hongfei, a man who misunderstood the relationship between his boss and a small time manager and single handedly manifested his CP into a real relationship, all the while getting to enjoy the fruits of his labour from the sidelines. 🤣🤣🤣.

... more>> This novel was funny and all the side characters had their own interesting backstories.

The only problem (?) with this novel is the fact that the ML....... how can I say this......

...... Is a Chuunibyou...😭.

'He tried to contain the beast inside him', like bro chill the f out 😂.

Anyway I had a good laugh reading this and I recommend it to anyone in need of something chill. <<less

It's a funny read, but a little lacking.

The highlights are the MC's choices of artists. He's a good person and saved desperate people from sad situations and gave them happiness. He eats melons and sees the world differently, finding people's strong point. Plus he never acts greedy or manipulative, he's genuinely nice.

I usually dislike misunderstandings, but this story is light and doesn't take itself seriously, so the backer part was fine and even funny.

What is lacking is the part about the MC and ML. Not only their relationship, but their... more>> personnality. We don't know anything about MC's past, feelings, thoughts,... until chapter 89. It was weird reading a book from a character's perspective without knowing what he thinks, just seeing him act. The ML's characters's is more detailed if hyper classic (the rich, powerful, young business genius who never felt anything until he met MC).

Their relationship plot starts at chapter 89, so don't read this expecting a romance story.

Finally, what I disliked where certain plot holes, not all of them. I was satisfied with the time plot holes (an artist films a movie, it's released immediatly), but the big ones where hard to ignore (MC starts his business so he can own an old but well situated building, but mid-story he moves and voilà... for example)

Honnestly, it's more of a 3 stars story, but it was light hearted, funny and the MC was a genuinely good person, ready to help people, so I gave it 1 more star. <<less

Reading this novel is like getting on a rollercoaster ride (while eating melons–yes it's possible). It started out strong, and the momentum just kept going... seriously, there wasn't a single chapter where I felt that it was boring.

The premise of the novel is exactly as the summary says–MC adopts homeless ducklings and gives them a new lease on life, with the help of his (fake) powerful backer. The only thing that is a little inaccurate is that the ML didn't fall in love with the MC at first sight lol... more>> (but he wasn't unaffected... ahem)

Our MC is super capable. He might look soft and innocent, but he's sharp, intelligent, and could be as ruthless as the ML when pushed. ML himself doesn't make much of an appearance in the beginning, just that his invisible presence is enough to hold power over everyone (but in fact this intimidating ML is the innocent one, which makes it so much funnier)

Don't expect any romance until late chapters. They took a REALLY long time to even develop feelings. Even then, the showbiz plot usually gets in the way because the leads are, unfortunately, diligent workaholics.

But you know who else is diligent? The MVP of this novel, the 'Love Security' Manager Sun. He wrote a 100k fanfic about the MC and ML in his head all by himself and built the ship plank by plank. No one overthinks, overreacts, and overdoes it like Manager Sun 👏

Also shoutout to the System. One of the least annoying system I've come across with a harmonious bond with the MC.

I kept waiting for a side CP to pop up because MC has so many eligible ducklings, but everyone in that company are also workaholics lol. The side CP in the extras was so unexpected, but it IS juicy so it was worth the wait.

This novel was really well written. I love the relationship the MC had with all his artists and system. The way the character's where written made me fall in love with them.

The MC and ML were very cute together and even though they didn't interact a lot in the beginning I still love how they got together.

This story is light-hearted and sweet, making it an easy and fun read. I read it via MTL. It is easy-to-understand MTL but there could be mistakes.

MC is overpowered. He is clever character and basically his life was smooth sailing after he took over the company. With the help of the system, he quickly identifies amazing talent, often giving them second chances in their careers. His artists view him almost like a hero, especially since each one has a unique story and personality.

One of the funniest parts of the story is the misunderstanding that links MC and ML. Because of one persons’s gossip, people start believing that ML is MC's under ground love interest. This rumor spreads quickly, even though MC and ML barely know each other.

The twist is that everyone begins to think MC’s success is all thanks to MLs influence, not MC’s own talent. MC never relies on ML u less like investment. But he is fully capable of looking after himself and his artist. Even the villains fall for this rumor, often trying to take down MC or ML only to fail because they underestimate MC’s real skill.

And the rumours change as the said person starts to actually see how the MC and ML interact. From them breaking up to ML chasing MC. It's cleverly written for sure.

Overall, it’s a story about how a funny rumor can end up shaping someone’s career and romance in unexpected ways and a MC and system who eats melons. <<less

Loved it a lot! It's a fun, light-hearted read. I had a hard time putting it down to sleep! Haha

I usually get bored reading these kinds of novels midway, but this one got me seated.

I love how our MC got to make his own little family. T_T I especially loved the phase where he recruited his little children (tho they're adults, really) ! I loved the dynamics too! And the ML being a sideline till he became important? Smooth. I just wish the author added an extra regarding his artists after the MC and ML got together~

This is one of those rare reads that you pick up and just can’t put down. I literally have been following from the first few chapters because I can’t get enough of it. Nearly sent myself into coughing fits more than once from laughter.

MC has an OP gossip system and uses it to do good, and there’s a lot of misunderstandings and laughter along the way. I like how each character gets their own spotlight and still appears at the end. MC never really changes, but they don’t really have... more>> to, as the plot isn’ t really about MC and their development, but rather how they change the entertainment industry and spread good. The romance is a little dull and rushed at the end, but it’s not the main point of the story, so don’t go into it with wild expectations.

Choose this novel if you want something lighthearted and like reading industry/company development plots. Translation is great, it is worth a read. <<less

It is a fun novel. However, there might be some things that will not sit well for some readers or even bringing in memories about a certain popular QT danmei from years ago; I won't name.

This novel is not a QT. It's a light drama, comedic novel that involves a lot of misunderstanding caused by unique brain-circuits and people making their own assumptions 😂.

Unlike several entertainment-themed danmei I've read, the author doesn't explore much about the drama the artists under MC are playing in. The themes are unique but yah,... more>> it's merely short description.

No, the MC isn't a smug type. He helps those he can and with proper reason too. He's a good man who wants to live a simple lazy life but ends up being a president of entertainment company, rumored to be someone's secret lover, and thus got busy 😂😂 <<less

If your looking for a romance, this novel won't give you any fluffy ❣️.

This novel is more on beautiful misunderstanding and full of self imagination 😂😂. It funny and kinda hilarious 😂 😂.

The good thing is that the MC is like a fairy godfather that gave 2nd chances to those he encounter and deserve people.

This is probably the first "Melon-Eating" entertainment troupe I've thoroughly enjoyed. The pacing is right, length is good and the MC is a sweetie. It's not the best entertainment danmei I've read, but it's the first melon-eating novel I didn't skim over.

Most melon-eating troupe or even entertainment novels falls into the trap of being too repetitive, so I appreciate how each drama in this novel is different and not too excessive.

MC takes over his uncle's company, got a system, and starts scouting for talents. Most entertainment novels are connected to... more>> the rebirth or transmigeration troupe but this isn't. His only golden finger is the gossips his system gives him. Of course, the main reason why MC becomes so successful is due to his good character. It's really refreshing to read an entertainment novel that doesn't have the MC in the forefront of the net's hot rankings. He takes care of his talents really well and their relationships are extremely wholesome. I love how his talents always joke that he adopts unlucky kids and make them successful. Mr Gu saved their lives and gave them opportunities. Their respect for him is over the roof.

The biggest 'scandal' MC has is probably the CP of him and the ML which is hilarious. Everyone around ML were supportive shippers while the talents from MC's company were basically antis trying to protect him like a Mama bird. My only complaint was that there were too many side characters and it was hard to remember who each one was after a while. That aside, it was wholesome and sweet.

Love this story. Entertaining and well-written I loved that the characters feel fleshed out and interesting. The collection of growing misunderstandings and the MC's own endearing cluelessness is hilarious to me, and I look forward to seeing more of GXS's growing 'harem' hahaha

Delicious story :))

No, really, I binged read the translated chapters and I've been laughing and cheering the entire time.

You'd think the whole face-slapping business would get tiring, or the favorable-to-the-MC (and his artists) way the conflicts get resolved would become predictable... but the Author puts the focus on the actual problems that get uncovered and brought to justice, and the 'baddies' are, unfortunately, very relatable to our day to day lives.

... more>> This creates emotional satisfaction when the injustices get solved, while rooting for both the main and side characters.

Honestly, I recommend to try and read at least the first 15 chapters in order to get an idea whether this is for you.

While for me, I'll be happily waiting for the next chapters~

It was a fun read, did get abit repetitive towards the end, nothing major plots involved. Career building while face slapping every cannon fodder villains.

ML is abit boring for my take, too cold. Know he's not on the inside but he was was the majority of the novel.

Love MC and his positive seemingly naïve energy, he's really harmless, but there's always misunderstandings and misconceptions of what's actually happening. True to be told MC is really smart and is jack of all trade, so he can come up with really amazingly... more>> creative ideas + Gossip system can load his enemies whole background he's unstoppable.

The people he recruits are also loveable, they get their justice with MC's help and also become a loyal fan of MC.

The romance is really late, so there wasn't that much going on, MC focus on saving these unfortunate lambs and turn their life around.

Selling point Comedic gossiping + Face slapping, it was a nice short read. <<less

This is a feel good, idealistic story. The bad guys get their comeuppance, the good guys get rewarded. MC's background is vague and only explained near the end of the story. MC gains a gossip system but it's never explained why or how. He's not a transmigrator, just an ordinary guy who unexpectedly inherited a defunct talent company from a distant relative. The gossip system doesn't require MC to do any task. It simply likes to share gossip and scandals with MC. Then MC uses all information from the system... more>> to expose bad people and save good people. Don't bother wondering why nobody investigates MC (and his sock account) 's background or identity. They're all scared of him thinking he has deep connections. A lot of it is due to coincidences and misunderstandings. If you're after romance, you'll find it severely lacking. There's very little interaction between MC and ML even after they've confirmed their relationship. ML is more invested in their relationship than MC. It seems to me like MC just feels he should reciprocate ML's feelings after getting so many benefits from being linked to him. Aside from that though, I still find the story very entertaining. <<less

I really like this novel. Unlike other novel where MC has a skill to get gossips, this novel stands out in terms of the level of tea, face slapping, and resolution. I also love witnessing how the characters grow and the company prosper from the bottom. The misunderstandings makes everything convenient. 😂😂 MC and ML are also superb, they're both OP in their own way and complements each other. 😍

Another run of the mill novel.

The story had potential but with the author's penchant for introducing damsel in distress characters the story got old fast.

Some of the characters the MC saved were naive, clueless, spineless, or just a dormat.

Meng Yuansheng - A character who opened his legs and accepted all his ex-boyfriends ab*se because he thought he was his saviour eventhough the aforementioned ex-boyfriend was selfish, egotistical, and liar. That did not clue him in, he remained oblivious until the MC showed up to save the day.

2. Sheng Yueshing- This new character added before I decided to drop the novel really took the cake.

After all the schemes he had to face, he did not bother to use whatever remaining wits he had with him to at least avoid the pitfuls. Was it too much for him to at least bring a recorder or anything to protect himself? Instead he had to wait for the MC to save him so he can worship the ground he walked on like the enumerable dimwitted coolies he had who seem to be incapable of thinking for themselves but had to wait for him to save the day every single time.

I had enough watching the MC baby sat these incompetent characters. <<less

Genuinely such a fun, light read, characters are endearing, the MC is my favourite kind of MC, and I loved the ML on the background casting shadow throughout the novel until he finally becomes relevant in the narrative. Usually I hate misunderstanding tropes, but this one was great!

I'll be honest, I was so charmed by the side characters and the MC that I didn't particularly care for the romance, but it was sweet enough that I didn't mind when it happened. Highly recommend if you're looking for a funny read,... more>> with a lot of face slapping and good things happening to good people. Hope we get to see more work from the author. <<less

The story is fairly simple. Gu Xingshi is blessed with the gossip system who gave him the juicy gossip of the people in the entertainment industry, including the investors, company people, and others. Gu Xingshi used this system to help him build the almost bankrupt company.

1. Plot. The plot is very simple, easy to digest, and never take itself seriously. A lot of misunderstanding happen throughout the story, especially about Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue, our male lead, which becomes even more absurd each day. It gives me a... more>> lot of fun when reading.

2. Lack of plot. Again, because it's just too simple, it feels lacking. Most of the plot is too redundant. It's the repeat story of Gu Xingshi finding someone pitiful, save them with the help of gossip system, and sign them into their company. Turned out, all his artists, even the screenwriters, all gems in the making. This repeated throughout the entire story. Until Qin Wen I still think it's fun, but after the fourth artist Sheng Yuanqing, I feel that the plot become too redundant.

3. Romance. It's severely lacking in the romance as nothing almost never happen. Then when it happens, it happened so suddenly. It feels way off, as there's little time spent on building the relationship between Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue, so when they got together it feels more like the author just put them together without really thinking much.

Overall it's a fun story. It's nice to read with no burden and accept that it's just a silly novel. It could work as non-BL since the BL part feels weird and not very genuine. <<less

In terms of fun to read, 5 stars. In terms of technique, 3 stars. For me, this was a very entertaining read. I can’t say I read it for themes or complexities, but as something light hearted and fun. I like our MC and I like the characters he recruits. There is plenty of melon seeds to eat and face slapping.

Now, the problems. The ML is a trope. There is little complexity with him and he can be summed up as the CEO ML. While our MC does have consistent... more>> characterization and motivations, we get very little of his backstory. This also relies on some level of suspension of disbelief with the success of everything (although knowing everyone’s dirty laundry would side step so much issues). This genre usually requires it, but there is no losses for the MC and everything always works out.

Having said that, this made me laugh and snort out loud. I kept up with the chapters while they were being translated. I usually drop novels if they aren’t complete. And it was a fun read. Recommend for something light. <<less
