Most emotional and touching Xianxia definitely. What a feels protagonist. If only there were as much camaraderie between men. Sadly, Xianxia and Harems in general, don’t have these. The side male characters may as well be air.

Only one I felt stood out was Ling Jie.

Protagonist isn’t that arrogant but the tr*sh talk is pretty great. What I didn’t see coming was the genius doctor part, which worked really well towards the harem. Other than that, everything is just depicted very satisfactorily.

The battles are great and well described. The power ups, as usual, a bit absurd, but always glad to not have to read through the struggle in battles. Overall; concepts like the Way of the Buddha is epic. Also, the revenge in this is definitely satisfying.

The romance is really decent. Lots of anecdotes, well described scenes and unique heroines.

edit 2020: Four years after my previous review (below), I've come back to change my rating to 2/5 stars. Having read more novels and matured a bit, I feel that I would not enjoy this novel If I were to read it today.

Don't want to say too much, would have been one of the best wuxia novels out there if not for the damn harem.

He is ruthless, but he does have a brain. His plot on exacting revenge was pretty beautifully done and the story was interesting. I dont like... more>> that there's too much mysteries he doesn't know about, but that's very common in wuxia novels.

I don't really mind a harem, although I prefer it didn't have one, just a regular romance, but whatever a harem is a harem. BUT this novel takes it to a whoooole new level. Hes just a bastard who goes around making every beutiful girl he meets fall for him.. Like damn I can name 6 girls hes involved with, its hard to remember all their names. He says he loves one, f*cks the other, marries the third, forgets the forth.. And ect. If feels like he just uses them for self achievement or s*x or whatever. He doesn't actually treasure them or why the f*ck would he go and "fall" for all of them? If he just chose 1 and progressed with her honestly this novel would just be so much better and you wouldn't feel guilty for the MC, because who even knows what happened to the (50 year old) girl he got pregnant and where the hell his baby is, how is he supposed to take care of it if hes such a player?

If he didnt have a f*cking baby maybe it would have been a little easier to read this, but now that he does he should only devote himself to that girl, but no he stills wants all of his harem to revolve around him even tho his kid is somewhere out here in the world he doesn't even give a sh*t about..

In the beginning I liked this 5/5 and it was awesome. However, MC is far too OP. No longer needs even the super heavy plot armor. He gets ALL the luck. No one else gets anything ever. Every female described as beautiful ends up in his harem including underage girls. All enemies have a copy pasted personality. This novel will become repetitive.

He easily destroys team of 8 sky profound while in 6th level of earth profound. "One of them was a half-step into emperor profound realm". Author says it's impossible to cross earth to sky realms in strength, but it seems he's crossed over it and crossed 2 realms of power as well.

Other characters have almost no personality. Every scene has at least a few repetitive sentences stating how awesome and OP MC is. I've found myself skipping and skimming through chapters in 600s. I'm lost as to how this is rated so highly. I've dropped this because I've found myself unable to read this after ch 684. <<less

If you have a lot of Xianxia novels it may look a bit cliche (as in protagonist was and bullied and then becomes strong, but not like the in-between contents of the plot) but I think this is a good novel if you don't like a goody-two shoes protagonist.

Listen... all that you gotta do is get past the first 45 chapters. The moment that Yun Che gets his meridians fixed the feeling of the novel changes drastically. Basically, the first 45 chapters are a glorified introduction to the character Yun Che... it also makes the rest of the novel more flavourful (maybe). In my opinion, perhaps a bit too long (it almost made me drop the series) ; however, later on it pays off.. or at the very least the rest of the series makes up for the... more>> initial lack of badassery.

As a personal opinion, ATG is the most addictive drug/Xianxia novel on the market to date. For example, this morning I stayed up until 3am waiting for chapters 221 and 222 to be released... nuff said. In short, read it, bookmark it, thank the the author, and pray that you live in the same timezone as the translator! <<less

This one is also one of my favorite novel. I have the same opinion as AustinShaff review. I love the novel and I hope it never ends. There’s some comedy, action, romance, and of course revenge. The MC of the novel personality;

If the people treat him good and sincere, he will forever remember them and treat them 100×times good and sincere. If you people treat him badly and or harm him or his loves one, he will forever never forgive them and will pay them back 100xtimes. I started reading this novel 7 years ago wehn I just go into light novels and still keep reading and enjoy it. It's action and fight scenes were pretty memorable with Yun Che going badass mode is most of them.

This will always remain a classic for me, and will keep enjoying it until its completed.

4/5 It would be 5/5 if it was when I just started reading it but I read a lot of other novels since then and I know a 5/5 novel is really hard to comeby.

Basically what's been said over and over by others. The story started out decently, but got steadily worse. Everyone's an arrogant young master, including MC, and by around chapter 200 there's no interesting threats left. Everything is "BOOM, they were all shocked by his strength even though they'd seen it before, BOOM, he kills more people, BOOM, blah blah blah." It doesn't help that the MC is a face-blocking beat-stick, the most boring kind of MC. He can take hits that would demolish mountains with merely a scratch, and that's... more>> when he's still in tr*sh-tier.

By chapter 366 the author's setting up his ascension to a wider stage, and I just don't care. When he was at the sect level it was somewhat interesting. When he was at the empire level and wiping out entire sects in a fit of pique it was far less interesting. And I just don't care to see him at continent or planet level. I've read a lot of cultivation stories, and about 90% of them are more interesting than this one. <<less

I understand making the MC OP and fighting above his rank, but there has to be a limit. It hasn't even been 80 chapters and he's already beating people 9 ranks above him. I know it's OP wish fulfillment, but this many ranks already is just dumb. This is all within the first series of real fights.

it's the classic banquet tournament, and some rando + his friend gets maliciously injured so he goes up and beats the guy who did it. He then challenges and beats another guy, which could also be reasonable (for sect honor, since two of theirs were beaten). Even the third wasn't totally insane, although it was stretching it a bit (more sect honor and showing off to be valuable). However, past that he's just courting death by continually insulting big sects that have people at least 3 realms above him. He even intentionally tricks and cripples a pretty important person of one of the biggest sects in the country!

I really liked the beginning, lustful and shameless MCs are my favorite. He's also ruthless against his enemy, which is really satisfying. I'm giving it two stars for that. <<less

i dont care what others think. as someone who reads raw instead of translated versions, this story was, is and will always be great. yes it has flaws, there is implication of r*pe, s*avery but without it Yun Che's character cannot be justified later on. the worldbuilding is ok... no its good or even great.

many say the first few chapters were good then it went downhill. well thats because in the official translation, it has not reached the amazin part yet.

an advice for readers will be to remember important details... more>> and characters and their behaviors, actions and info they share early on. coz after 1800+ chapters you are in for a major twist, a truth, and a magnificient story and plot build that took 8 freaking years.

definitely a 5 star for me. the harem is justified and useful, not those types of vase. especially some members. each major arc has its own importance even for the later chapters. not the most amazin and the greatest CN novel but in my list of fav, it definitely ranks higher than reverend insanity, which I myself am surprised at... <<less

I don't do many reviews nor am I very good at them, I'm not picky about Chinese web novels either, but I have to say this story is very underrated and overrated at the same time.

In the usual story we see MC Yun Che being a tr*sh reincarnating and then being Op, then he meets the typical jade beauty who is there to be saved and at this point I have nothing to say it's very generic but what do you expect watching a Chinese web novel? But if something... more>> I have to say is that this novel has some things that stick you, the plot the development of the MC and some secondary as xia qinyue jazmin and caizhi that have the best developments in this type of novels, if this is weird for those who have not read the whole novel but both its protagonist and the things that happens in the kingdom of god are very interesting to read its plot is full of mysteries darkness and revenge.

Plot 9/10 I think since they entered the god realm it may be the best plot of any Chinese novel.

MC 7/10 In the god realm war arc, before 4/10 too generic.

Female Protagonists 9/10 Here I'm only talking about jazmine xia qinyue Qianye Ying'er and caizhi

Secondaries (wives) 5/10 there are some interesting ones but after becoming yunche's wives many lost depth or characterization.

Secondaries 7/10 there are some very good ones but they don't come out too much

World building 7/10 in the original world of yunche, God's kingdom building is 9/10 of the best even for non-Chinese novels.

This series has a slow start but if you are used to Chinese novels you should be fine, but you will see that after you come back from the illusory demonic realm the plot flows much better than before and when you get to the god realm I assure you that you will not want to stop reading, if you like this genre you should read atg surely the best Chinese novel I have read and I have read over 130.

Decent beginning gets pretty stale after a while. Concerning the r*pe claim, all the detractors neglect to mention the context of the act. Without the r*pe, the woman would certainly have died and her reluctance while there may be different than how you would first think. Whether that is justified or not it should still be taken into consideration and making value judgements that the MC is a s*xual predator just based on that act alone is a stretch. Still he acts like a total ret*rd around the harem acting... more>> a bit too pe*verted concerning his mental age. Even tho its the typical story for its genre, there are some unique points to it that makes it quite an interesting read.

Really great read for men of culture since most if not all the character interactions are well written. The MC's relationships and development with his women along the story is quite unique and will really get you voting for the best waifu along the way.

Against the Gods or also known as Acquire the Girls is about a man who fate decided should be the person shouldering some sort of guardian role for the universe, however the man has never had the ambition nor desire to be one and only wants to stay with his loved ones. But alas, humanity's greed and wickedness has set him to the path of awakening his ambition for power to be able to protect what he cherishes the most.

I really like this novel in the beginning, a classic story of a guy struggling to get strong to protect his loved one. But the story slowly becomes worse after Yun Che leaves his blue planet. The author becomes more and more sadistic in torturing Yun Che. The "epic fights" the author writes can be best described as hopeless struggle with pain and suffering sprinkled on top... then the author pull a damn "miracle" out of his ass and gives Yun Che a second...a third... and a fourth chance... it's... more>> ridiculous, it just gives more opportunity to torture the poor guy. If you like seeing the main character in constant pain and depression and then have a few quick come back scenes, then watch as his friends, families, and allies gets thrashed and killed so Yun Che can fell more pain... well I highly recommend reading this novel.... otherwise you can basically stop reading after he leaves his planet.

I'm so sick of the s*upid fights and unnecessary tragedies the author writes. It usually takes about 15 minutes or more to read each chapter, but now I basically just skim a few words every paragraph to see who dies or not to get the general story, finishing each chapter in less than 5 minutes. The only reason for me to even continuing reading is just to see the ending after spending so much time on it. <<less

I understand the criticisms this novel has received in the middle parts of the novel but as of now, the novel has improved so much. The writing has improved, the characters have improved and most importantly the villains act like real villains. You may find them unreasonable at first but when you think from their POV, you understand the actions. The allied characters have also become very interesting. Even now, I cannot guarantee that one of MC's closest ones won't betray him. It starts with light tone, then interchanges between... more>> dark and light in the middle and now it has become the darkest it could have ever been.

To comment about the MC, he may seem intelligent and vicious at the beginning but there are others who far surpass him in terms of that but it is reasonable because at the end of the day, he is a man who haven't even reached 50 years. You may find him repulsive and annoying sometimes but that's what makes him a human-like character. Throughout the series, his character develops and even now, his character is still developing.

The author really did a good job with the world. I'm not talking about the world-building (which is also good), I'm talking about the "morals" of the world. Currently, I'd say there is not a single character who didn't have tr*sh-like behavior excluding a few characters and I'm saying it in a good way.

For instance, let's talk about Mu Xuanyin (the widely acknowledged best girl). Even after knowing that ice phoenix has tempered with her mind, she still fell in love with him and that's not the worst part. The worst part is when she clearly hands over her Sect to her sister and goes to "su*cide". If XQ didn't take the Snow Song Realm under her protection, the consequences could be deadly.

Pretty good, especially compared to most of the xianxia stories out there.

Yun Che's harem chasing is a bit much, but the combat is well written and the progression is a good pace.
