Recently discovered the manga and decided to find and read the novel it came from and it’s alright nothing to write home about. I think the manga adaptation fixed some of the pacing and filler parts good though. It’s cute but def something you want to turn your brain off for because once you try to think of the plot or setting logically things crash. My next thoughts are because I didn’t turn my brain off.

I don’t mind an Isekai with age regression, but this novel made the settings weird.... more>> The protagonist being the “1000 yrs old in a child body” trope is not new but with most characters, even his 2 partners, who meet him for the first time think he’s a child and the characters around him initially question if it’s a sus relationship with his partners because he looks so young. They brush it off so quickly and easily when they’re told “oh don’t worry he’s a legal adult (16 in this world) ”. And a little worse is before they even know his age and assume he’s a child but the romance partners don’t feel weirded out by some of their initial budding romantic feelings toward MC, who they at the time, assumed to be a child.

Other novels (and manga) usually write around it like making the love interest feel a bit weirded out or conflicted, or acknowledge it but hold off romance till things seem more appropriate. It could be explained away by the “pair” system but other stories have handled having an underage or seemingly underage partner better and less ick. If the author wanted a shota romance it should have been either go full in and not make every character weirded out at all about the possibility of MC being a child or should have made MC older (18-19) when he gets rescued, and with his baby face he looks 16 aka an “adult” in world.

Side note to the dubious age stuff, but the romantic interest found MC when he was, as mentioned in the novel, no fat just skin and bones, and yet both interests still felt really attracted to an emaciated child looking persons. Even if MC wasn’t child looking being that starved and unhealthy looking shouldnt spark any feelings of romance. If they started to feel something when he started to gain some weight and look healthy thats different.

Also with how pregnancy is explained,
Spoiler

I think the author just wanted to sound smart because it seemed so unnecessarily convoluted. If it stayed simple, magical nucleus needed to make child in addition to making it possible to deliver anally. Once the author tried explaining the mechanics behind how it worked it just sounded like extra on top of extra for the sake of it and made some information not make sense. Such as the baby doesn’t actually grow inside the mother (or the nucleus) what’s growing is the magical energy via the nucleus so the baby can be magically pulled from wherever to then be delivered. Why is there a baby bump and the mother able to feel the child moving but the baby is in some magically void elsewhere.

[collapse]
Or maybe I misunderstood the process because it was just so unnecessarily complicated.

Another little dig is how fast issues amd trauma is moved on. It’s a feel good story but the extra details for the tragedies and trauma was too intense to just move past it as fast as MC did. I think some of the character and relationship building should have been shifted to getting through that with romance worked in. Theres a lot of filler that could have been axed for properly addressing MCs trauma. Or not have such a rough start for MCs backstory/introduction into the world.

Despite all my gripes, the concept and idea is cute and when the plot gets going it’s not that bad, but just turn off your brain. <<less

I honestly liked the flow of the story of this. It hooked me from the very beginning until this very moment. I have no courage to read the raws because I'm afraid I would misunderstood the story. I'm happy that someone pick it up again, I've been going back and forth here for updates and finally. 😍

As for the content, this is pure cute fluff. If it weren't for the s*x it would be like a cute fairy story. If you read this expecting something deep or complex you're going to be very disappointed! But if you're looking for something light, easy to read, and fun, this is for you. It is true that there is violence and r*pe in this, but there's nothing too awful (check the tags). All the main characters are loving, respectful, and have a healthy polygamous relationship. Also, I think... more>> the author suffered from the munchies. For me all the food sections were a bit skippable. <<less
