Became an Infinite Game Beauty NPC

If selected as a player in a horror game, it’s either clear the game or die.

Ruan Qing had it worse. He directly became a special player who played the role of an NPC in the horror game, essentially living in the opening credits.

What’s even more unfortunate for him is that his physique is extremely peculiar, attracting the attention of sadists and psychopaths no matter where he goes.

Game 1: [Horror Livestream Room] – A gloomy and delicate victim who can’t bear the slightest grievance – Completed.

Those who owe debts always have to repay them, and once you owe a debt, you will be selected by the horror livestream.

Ruan Qing was the first to be chosen: “…”

After Ruan Qing was chosen, various ways of his death flooded the invisible barrage in the livestream room.

However, when the camera focused on Ruan Qing’s face, the barrage froze, and the previously cruel and heartless comments instantly changed.

[I don’t think he deserves to die. Isn’t it just an insult? He didn’t lose any flesh. Why make a big deal out of it?]

[I agree, I don’t think he’s a bad person.] Initially, everyone said, [Someone so malicious should just die!]

But later, everyone flocked to the Weibo accounts of the people Ruan Qing had insulted: [You can’t even afford grapes, but you dare to eat steak. Do you still have any humanity?]

People who were inexplicably insulted: “??? Are you crazy?”

If you discover a serial killer knocking on your door, about to break in within a few minutes, what would you do? If it were any other host, the audience would probably be excited and want to see various ways they would die.

But if it were Ruan Qing…

[Don’t open the door, Ruan Qing! Please don’t open the door! Run away quickly!!!] Ruan Qing took out his phone and dialed the number of the neighbor across the hall (another serial killer), “Hello, your food delivery has arrived. Can you please open the door and pick it up?”

I honestly cannot get enough of this novel.

The basic premise is that the MC have a peculiar condition where his beauty, instead of provoking thought of worship, instead causes sadistic tendencies in those around him. It's been insinuated from pretty early on that MC has experienced some crazy sh*t in his life which led him to develop crazy skills, IE; the survival skills he needs to survive this crazy world.

We gets shown all the different sides of MC but unfortunately other characters will never see those sides. This is intentional,... more>> (frustrating, yes) but intentional nonetheless. The premise of the whole novel is MC being given a permanent negative trait that are guarantee to f*ck him up, and using everything in his arsenal to avoid the bad ending. All the while other characters realized too late that their "damsel in distress" is in fact the one pulling the strings.

If you don't like the love interests (because believe me, no one does), than rejoice! MC will slap their face by the end of each instance, girl boss, gatekeep, and gaslight his way out of danger.

5/5, minus maybe by 0.0001 because there's an absent of female characters, or lack of screen time for them. Which made sense in hind sight, but I kind of want to see a whole instance where the main boss is a female character that are crazily chasing after the MC with her goons. Higher expectations for someone reading for free— but it will remain for me a wish.

Although there is something I want to comment on

Spoiler

Second arc introduces us to a character called the Puppeteer or some variation of that I don't really remember. And this obviously have some connections with the female anchor in the first instance and the two mysterious characters by the end of the first instance. Li Shuyang is supposedly the Puppeteer, but I'm not getting lead vibe from him?? Seems more like a mystery plot related chara only. Maybe I'm wrong

Oh boy, I am conflicted about this novel. I'll give this a solid 3.5 (rounded up to 4).

This novel is the definition of pretty privilege, everything is forgiven, even death took a fancy on you. But I like that the novel kind of implies that "being pretty isn't necessarily a good thing", kinda have that Tomie Junji Ito vibe, but MC here had a way better ending than her (a tad bit unrealistic but it's an ending I preferred).

I can't count how many times the novel wrote how MC's tearful... more>> state invoke not pity but sadistic tendency. I get it, people are obsessed but having to read this repititively makes me wonder, does the MC has no other likeable traits other than his crying face? lol

MC is realistically human (?), character-wise, the novel had repeatedly emphasize his ethereal appearance. He's not the usual OP and jack of all trades MC, he had weaknesses (eg. physically weak and scared of ghosts).

His pursuers, though were extremely superficial. All of them, well, at least until the arc I read (although... I like Mo ran and Xiao Shiyi, they're superficially cool)

Honestly, this novel is nice for a light read but the obsession with MC's crying face had me slightly cringe, it reminds me of my seventh grade fanfic with limited ideas and vocabulary. I recommend reading it though, the concepts are pretty interesting if you ignore the repititive sentences 👍🏻 <<less

It's so funny to read and it's interesting since I don't know what will MC do to escape his the yandere and lunatic suitors killers in his weak constitution.

Cons: I feel bad how MC is being bullied by his suitors every time. I hope there's a development where he enhances his constitution so he could defend himself

I don't know what to feel about this novel because the instances are awesome with all the plotwists and discoveries but overall, I hate how the MC -despite his cleverness, is ONLY liked because of his beauty.

Sure, the backstory kind of explains why everyone is so in love with him and all but... it just pisses me off how there's no real growth with how people perceive MC.

I would rate it 2.5/3 stars maybe because I think the instances were all well thoughts and I like shura fields but I... more>> feel a bit unhappy how people kept being h**ny/ obsessed by the seemingly "dumb but beautiful" MC -though some still knew he wasn't as harmless as. he portrayed himself to be but it was like 5%, and I'm being optimistic here <<less

Warning: I am reading through a translator and writing this also with the help of a translator!

I read up to chapter 160 and honestly I got really bored. Constant mention of the beauty of the MC of his mind, etc. This can still be tolerated, but his constant fear of ghosts began to infuriate him. Sorry, but everything that moves and has a d*ck in his pants dreams of r*ping the MC. And this does not depend on whether they are dead or alive. Every ghost he meets harasses MC,... more>> but he believes that the ghost is trying to kill him. Dude, he's harassing you, not trying to kill you!

As other readers have noticed, this is not a detective story, all the evidence and hidden details will only help the MS pull the answer out of thin air, and the reader will never fully understand anything.

All arcs are the same and even all psychopaths are the same. Only the surroundings of school, house, mansion, etc. Change.

I read the spoilers and the ending didn’t impress me, in general, maybe someday I’ll decide to finish reading it, but now I’ll throw it on the far shelf with 3 stars. <<less

Caught up with the translations. Now I know why people rate it lowly.

I was so excited to read this since I love horror instances and unlimited flow novels, and heck I can even forgive the constant descriptions of how MC is a beauty out of this world or of whom has descended to the mortal world or whatever. And trust me, it's so often that MC just dazzles everyone with their beauty.

As for the arcs, the Residential Area arc one is my favorite so far, because of how chilling all... more>> the descriptions were. It made me a little scared to sleep in the dark as I was reading lol. I even liked the Blood Shadow arc. The latter arcs slow down and get more dragged out, and it kind of went downhill starting at the Pen Fairy arc to the Zombie Arc and where I'm at rn with the Casino Arc. Something about how it is written from there on just makes you lose interest.

It is also hinted on whom the ML is, as well as MC's background. I get why MC is weak at the moment, but it really gets so annoying when he makes dumb choices and have to constantly rely on others to save him. Yes he is capable in some ways, but there's really a lot of external help. I do kind of like that he's not completely perfect though, as he does have flaws in his perception and thinking.

Again, I can forgive the repetitive descriptions of MC's beauty, but I cannot forgive just how slow paced this is (already halfway there and MC has still no consented to any of the physical touches or kisses). It's also like he isn't moved by anything that happened and is just emotionless pretty doll. MC also gets into one situation after another and nothing is straightforward. Or he can just use others who are obsessed with him to help him from one to the next. So many cheats too. I feel nothing for the MC. There's just no characterization or growth yet.

I went from "wow this is a really interesting premise 4 stars" to "when is this arc over 3 stars." I was reading for the stories/plot of the instances at this point lol.

Edit: Almost a year later I decided to pick it up again, and caught up to 400+ chapters. We finally see MC consent to a kiss even but everything is still so vague and so many questions. At this point, I feel the author is just stalling and just wants to write more arcs, which I understand, but I do want more background on MC and ML lol.

I re-read from start and continued through where I stopped last time. I actually ended up enjoying the Casino and Cruise ship arcs actually. But then I rethink and I'm like nothing was actually solved and the big shots appeared and then you don't hear from them for hundreds of chapters again. Also how the author may feature players from a previous instance or in background info, even name dropping them, and I'm like who tf is that again?? I just finished the Miao Village arc and absolutely disliked it. Probably my least favorite. I was so over the plot and how the MC acts in this arc that I was honestly glad when the author went back to the non-serious moments of everyone being captivated by MC's beauty. I thank the translations and translator! The site is hard to navigate because of course ads as you would expect, but I just put it on mobile reader view with my built in add block so it is more manageable. I'll continue reading as translations catch up. Thank you! I think I have a love-hate relationship with this lol.

Edit 2: I MTL-ed the rest. Was disappointed in the ending and background/history provided. A lot of open ended and unanswered questions too. Also the reunion between the MC and ML felt unfulfilling. Avoiding major spoilers, author tried too hard with

, but I think it's also because I've read other better works with similar trope and similar plot. It felt like the author tried to make it all too poetic but missed the mark of making the readers attached to the characters.

Overall, I enjoyed the horror arcs more than the "real" plot. <<less

Okay... another one of my guilty pleasures, I admit.

I’m a sucker for beauty, and for all the people who’ve dropped the novel bc “it doesn’t stop with the beauty descriptions”, I promise that by the 4th or so arc, it gets a little bit more moderate. It’s still there, but it’s not as intense as the 1st or 2nd arcs.

I don’t have much to say about it, but I genuinely love the novel (plenty of Yandere, with some pretty obvious power differences), and the poor goddamn system (no but like... more>> the MC is out there getting everything he wants from this poor program in the subtlest ways 💀).

The translator is incredible, with usually daily updates, and if extras are bought, up to 10 chapters a day can be published - honestly incredible, I could never.

The translation is smooth and idk... it’s a good novel, but not everyone’s cup of tea in the end (。 ́︿ ̀。)

Definitely mine tho ❤️ <<less

This is superb! I read it years ago but didn't finish it. Now, re-reading it, gosh. If only his beauty didn't outshine his talent, it would be so much better. I feel bad for him when those avatars/players keep targeting him—like, keep your lust away, please! Give this man a break; he just wants to clear every instance.

Honestly, I've grown tired of him repeatedly being suppressed by the evil god—like, aahh! But I love every arc. I even cried at the end of the Apocalyptic arc. Every instance is so... more>> well-written, I didn't get bored at all. My favorite arc so far is the Casino arc, where his true skill finally shines for everyone to see! Finally!

Also, I feel sad for Lin, that poor child on the cruise.... nghhh. <<less

I have to agree with NightFlower1's review. The novel starts off pretty interesting but then gets bogged down by increasingly boring arcs. (I ended up stopping in the middle of the Pen Spirit arc. And I don't think it's a coincidence that a lot of the reviews here also stop around chapter 160-190...)

While some readers may find the constant descriptions of MC's beauty annoying, it's actually pretty amusing if you treat it as a running joke. (Plus, what makes this any different from the descriptions of MCs in other... more>> novels, besides the amount of descriptions?) And everyone simping after MC all the time is just... Lmao.

The best arc is definitely the Residential one. It was actually chilling and intense to read about, and was surprisingly hilarious because of all the crazy ways the "MLs" compete with each other. Too bad the other arcs are missing that tension.

It's pretty interesting to see how the MC is both OP and weak. He relies on his charm and intelligence, but sometimes that ends up being a double-edged sword that lands him into more trouble.

Not sure if this novel has an actual ML. I've seen spoilers about it, and while I'm not sure how accurate they are, I can't say I'm too happy about it.
Spoiler

All the infatuated guys end up combining into one person or something? Yeesh. I would rather the MC end up with a guy who ISN'T a creep.

[collapse]

While there is dubcon (which never goes away) throughout the novel, I find that I can stomach it since it's offset by how pathetic the "MLs" are when it comes to the MC.

I can't say I'll come back to read more of this, but it was pretty fun at the beginning at least! <<less

im thankful to read this for free, but the writing is so tedious. MC survives by virtue of being a beauty; even if it draws pe*verts and such, the benefits outweigh the cons, bc he can just use their obsession with him to manipulate them to some extent. the descriptions of his beauty are excessive and repetitive. the first arc was definitely the worst in this aspect. the author keeps telling us he's smart and cunning, but I have never been impressed with it, bc it all boils down to... more>> the pe*verts's indulgence for him. that's not to say he has it on easy mode, cuz he is hardworking and not OP, or has the mental fortitude of one, but it's ridiculous how no one can see thru his acting and are all fooled by him... which btw only works bc he's beautiful. I think the details and lore of the instances are interesting, but it could be executed better, bc I could not retain the information at all. I'm not sure if it's just the prose or my attention span, but it's forgettable, messy, and boring and I could not wait for each arc to end. <<less

There's a way to make a character seem memorably attractive without forcing it in your reader's face 8 times in a 800 word chapter, and this author obviously has never mastered it.

(I'm on the Pen Fairy arc and have only been reading it out of boredom every 10 days 🥱)

[Ain't gonna fake though, Arc 2, and 4 were my favorite. ] Could it have been better without everybody soaking wet over the MC? YES. But you can't put much faith and expectation in books like these.

Will I finish this?... more>> Probably not, and would I recommend it? No, unless you ask for a soft MC. <<less

I expected less. I thought MC would be useless and s*upid as MC in "I Rely on Kisses to Clear Survival Games".

But this MC is much better than him. Still I would give 3.5 stars to to this novel.

This novel is less brain stimulation, quiz, death game genre. It's more like a detective type. Finding the real person behind or a big boss.

... more>> Things I like.

I am at chapter 78, read only 2 instances so far. But instances are kinda "fresh". I know there are many UF with similar backgrounds, but it's fresh in a way that there are too many suspicious people and hard to guess the real boss. Everyone is strong, anyone could be the big boss. Mystery aspect is good. Many interesting side characters.

MC is good at acting and calculative.

Things that I don't like.

Also MCs character. He is kinda.. Too meek? I understand that his role is being damsel in distress, crybaby, his fragility is the whole point of this novel. And in some cases he is pretending, but in most cases he is genuine and it's annoying. I don't really like this kind of weakling MC characters. When facing danger he just freezes and cries, ghosts or monsters won't do anything to him because he is pretty. I just hope he would get better in later parts otherwise I can't continue. Also author writes too much about his beauty, and it's repetitive. (The same 5-6 sentences to describe his beauty is repeated in each chapter, or multiple times in a single page) It takes like half of the total words in each chapter.

I don't know who the ML is. Each arc has soo many strong males lasting after him, few already getting some kisses and hugs. But till chapter 78 I don't see sign of ML. It's probably a harem story with 100 of potential lovers? <<less

Review about the novel:

Let me first say I knew what I was getting into when I saw the title but even then,

I really feel bad for the MC.

All these men are "falling for him at first sight" or focus on him more because of his looks and how he appears to be easy to bully just because he's really "obedient", as if they didn't force him to do what they want so they can have him. I can read about yandere MLs and tolerate them but it feels really... more>> cheap when they fall for his beauty first than his intelligence or personality. It's the type of toxicity that is obsessed with only beauty.

I wanted to read the novel because of the MC but unfortunately, there are too many things that I just don't like.

About the ML:

Spoiler

This is just a guess but I'm guessing some, if not all of the men that are fighting over him, are fragments from the real ML. This idea is starting to get overused after reading several novels with the same concept. I just wish authors make new concepts that aren't just a copy from another novel.

The ML is the reason I stopped reading despite being curious about the MC. I got so exhausted whenever these men appear within the vicinity of the MC. This is weird because the normal reaction is to want them to be together but instead, I'm just repulsed.

[collapse]

About the audience:

Spoiler

The audience literally shows how people in real life sees beauty in a toxic way. When the novel started, the audience were really excited for the MC to die in the most brutal manner until they saw his face and started to go 180. I appreciate that they like how smart he is in some cases despite his numerous disadvantages but they, like everyone else, focuses on his face first and will always get distracted by his face every once in a while. I honestly prefer the audience that actually thinks badly about him because of his appearance (underestimating him and thinking that everyone needs to focus more on the instances than a random "NPC").

I get that most novels and even other media focus on how handsome or beautiful the character is but the author for this novel could've focused more on the MC's intelligence than his appearance. It could've at least proved that the MC has something better than his looks. The MC is actually pretty smart for someone who doesn't have a lot of skills and is always surrounded by dangerous men but it often easily gets overshadowed by his beauty.

[collapse]

About the arcs:

Spoiler

The first arc/introduction is kinda underwhelming compared to other infinite flow/horror novels. I was so confused about what was happening until half-way into the first arc. And the male characters that are scrambling after him aren't exactly intimidating to me except for the one with the chainsaw.

The rest of the arcs after that are pretty okay. My favorite is when he was temporarily blind because I feel that he's more cunning in that instance. Plus, the plot twist right in the middle of that arc was pretty unexpected.

But despite this, I can't even feel the suspense because again, they focus too much on his face. I'm more annoyed than scared by the horror. And I'm more exhausted than intrigued by the mystery.

[collapse]

I was going to continue reading it since I'm curious about the MC's past based on the few glimpses we get about his backstory and why he seems so used to all these desperate men but because of how much his beauty was mentioned, I got tired and dropped it. I swear, if you remove those descriptions about his looks, the novel will be much shorter. <<less

One of my favorites so far! But I also have a lot of favorites.

The MC is smart and is willing to use his face to his advantage at times if he needs. He has a lot of ML admirers and I like that they're possessive and fighting over him! 😈😏 So far, he hasn't chosen or liked anyone and I'm also here for that. He does what he needs to do in order to complete his missions. There are no "papapa" scenes but there is non-con kissing and occasional groping. The... more>> author does like to talk about how beautiful, ethereal and bullyable the MC is as well. <<less

This is currently my favourite novel, it has an amazing protagonist and the male lead is quite to my liking as well.

All the arcs were perfect my favourites being the casino, blind wife and horror livestream. I highly suggest anyone to give this book ago!

The ending is very open with the two leads seeing each other after recognising their feelings, and both being on an equal level of power to each other!

Honestly, I’ve really enjoyed this novel, it’s probably one of my favorites. I’ve really loved every arc/instance, and all of the situations that the MC gets thrown into. I know some people find the constant exaggerated descriptions of the mc’s appearance annoying, but I enjoyed him having such a distinctive appearance, and having such thorough character descriptions. Also, as someone who enjoys yanderes and possessive characters, I also have really liked the unhealthy themes in this novel. I’ve also enjoyed the slow pace, because it means that the horror instances... more>> are thoroughly described and explained.

However, there is no overarching plot. While there are backstories getting hinted at, they’re so slowly developed that they seem out of place. The same is true with the romance, while I have an idea that this is going to be a 1 on 1 romance with who I think is the real ml, it’s so slow in being developed, that I don’t really support their relationship. It feels like the author poured all of their love and effort into creating a perfect MC, and creating opportunities to show off the MC, that they completely skipped over creating a well matched ml. And while I’ve enjoyed all of the instances/arcs and the unique characters in them, none of those characters ever comes back, even the ones that could. There’s just to many characters who like the MC, and then never show up again. I can’t ever keep up with all the changing names.

Overall I’ve enjoyed this novel, and will keep reading it, but I feel like it had so much potential that sort of just got thrown away. <<less

I understand all the reviews... the good and the bad. Let's start with

the bad

SA: MC is still inexperienced but there has been times, more like frequent times, when other characters get handsy with him. I don't think it's normalized because other characters will criticize and shame them. Also, MC never tolerates harassment unless he has to and it's never romanticized. However, the author does use it as a tool to show how "irresistible" MC ... more>>

which I think is plot relevant because the moral of the story is if you love someone you would do anything to make them happy even if that is resisting

. Sort of like a character will say something like "he's a beast for kidnapping someone but it's understandable considering how beautiful MC is."

Also few want to outright speak up for the MC because they're trapped in horror stories and the people audacious enough to grope him are like demons and boss level ghosts. Few of the human characters are about that and the ones that are maybe more problematic.

The description: every chapter or even more, there are long paragraphs of descriptions describing how beautiful the MC is. I'm not even exaggerating. Just read the first chapter. It's also a bit weird and heavily focused on him crying or being pitiful. I mean at least his beauty is relevant to the plot. I've read similar stories where it wasn't.

The writing: Lots of plot holes and lots of convenient abilities. For both villains and MC. It's gets better later in the story though. The story is just written a bit immaturely, but it gets better.

the good

The plot: It's entertaining and descriptive. I read up to ch 196 straight. Took me several days but I didn't read anything else in between. It's also funny and a bit of thriller. I like how the author dives into the things I kind of side-eyed like "special snow flakes" "not like other girls" "insta-love " "beauty supremacy" "Mary sue abilities" "weak damsel" and adds a twist. She makes it relevant to the plot and more than what it seems.

MC: I like how MC maintains his boundaries and never gives in.

The translator: They update frequently. They also update Salted Fish Zombie, which is kind of like this but better executed.

Overall : 4 Stars for entertainment and isn't that what we're reading for 😉 <<less
