Li Tingyan and Lin Chi initially considered their relationship nothing more than a matter of mutual benefit.

They met in a small bar when Li Tingyan was at his lowest point. The love of his life was getting married the next day, and he was invited merely as a guest, not the groom.

Lin Chi, on the other hand, was entirely motivated by physical attraction.

What was supposed to be a one-night stand inexplicably continued.

In the hotel, Lin Chi lay on the bed, letting Li Tingyan help him with his shirt collar.

the novel is SO WELL WRITTEN. Usually when MC or ML initiates a relationship it somehow iffs me a little because of how condescendingly its written. But no!!! This novel removed me from such fears. MC is so free spirited, out going, carefree. He is a like a wind which keeps flowing without a stop. Yet he stops!! Oh he stops for ml. He falls for ML so deeply. I love how well he is written it feels raw. His emotions RESONATED within me. It made me feel pain and... more>> anguish but also immense love.

especially when MC was willing to let go off ML even if he had a chance w him because he wanted ML to love him entirely and not leave him of the benefit of doubt which can also affect his self esteem down the lane.

he is SO independent that I am genuinely fond of him. Im so glad he and yu nian are friends. Their friendship is so cute!!

NOW coming to ml, wow he is so well written. Initially I felt he would be very stoic and domineering. But he is so gentle. Like the leaf that flies w the wind (mc). He is so raw too?? So flawed !! Esp he was already heartbroken bc of his first love he lost. So him falling for MC didn't seem SLIGHT bit awkward. It was SO SMOOTH. I was screaming and cheering for ml. Esp when ML had to prove that in his heart only MC presides. It was so beautiful arc. ML was such a green flag he makes me feel so sane. Except his slight yandere tendencies LMFAO. But god I love how well he is written. His character growth was so refreshing I was in AWE.

the main cp were PERFECT. Like they were flawed but together they seem to fill the cracks and look like a broken vase which was aesthetic. I don't think any amount of words can explain my love for them. <<less

I love the writing and story overall. It’s kind of simple but gosh at some point I cried. Eventhough at once, I dislike LC of what he was about to do.

Both LC and LT decided to kind of became fwb with exclusivity. Then as cliche as it sounds, due to feeling, LC went to a club and almost, almost broke the promise. I’m also glad LT brought it up.

Look, I know they are not together together, but when you promised to be exclusive, you should hold to that.

Despite that however,... more>> I love the overall story and how LC show his feelings without dragging it too long. He was also firm with his decision leading to their ending.

And gosh. I just realized it’s the same author with Easy to Deceive so it was quite surprise to see the familiar names! Ngl I almost checked if there will be any names mentioned again 😂 <<less

A wealthy and lovelorn businessman meets a flirtatious and free spirited playboy, sparking up a physical relationship without any intention of falling in love, but little do they know... that they're the main characters of a romance novel and have no choice but to spend the next 50 chapters growing increasingly obsessed with one another. The dramatic irony of a s*x friends to lovers trope is never lost on me haha

The MC is a 22 year old model with a poor upbringing, while ML is a 27 year old (younger... more>> than I expected I can't lie) wealthy second generation businessman with a cold appearance but a hot blooded soul. Despite the potential sponsor setup, MC is very adamant that he's only here for ML's body and not his money, so there's no real power play between them.

Though a little narcissistic from his good looks, the MC is surprisingly endearing and emotionally mature. He doesn't actually engage in any playboy antics while he's with ML, and he's very sincere in his feelings for ML. The ML is similarly mature, and I really enjoyed his more playful and lively side that would come out when he was around the MC. They both really bring out the best qualities in each other!

Their relationship isn't all smooth sailing, but it never got to the point of emotional devastation (like I experienced in the prequel story) and the overall tone of this novel is pure sweetness! This author always delivers when it comes to writing lighthearted but also heartfelt romance stories, and I found the writing in this novel to be particularly poetic, with beautiful metaphors to depict the main couple's affection for one another. Definitely recommend this one! <<less

Another great read from this author, I really like how their relationship progressed from a one night stand to friends to benefits to lovers. They have really good chemistry together and it was an easy and enjoyable read.

I was gonna pass up on this book bc of the spoiler given in another review and I'm glad I gave it a chance. The romance between the characters felt right. It felt natural.

Two people who wanted something out of the other happen to fall in love after spending more and more time together. I loved how the MC was realistic in his demands. He wanted a love he deemed perfect and nothing is wrong with that.

the runaway trope is always annoying but I don't think we can say he was running away exactly since the trip abroad was pre-planned. I do wish the breakup was face-to-face but the breakup was necessary. The ML was very unsure of his feelings by the time of the MC's confession (nothing wrong with this) but if I remember correctly he wasn't sure he'd be able to reciprocate so I think the MC was right to give him space to allow him to figure it out

One thing that intrigued me completely in this novel was their love and obsession with each other. The MC and ML didn't completely understand themselves until they met each other. A one night stand turn to a casual fling an finally to love. The MC has no experience in love and doesn't even plan to fall in love until he met the ML that he realized that he was prone to love while the ML has a crush/ first love but was heartbroken thinking he might not love anymore. There... more>> is no angst but some chapters bring tears into my eyes especially when the MC told the ML that it is over between them. One is protecting his heart from being broken while one is scared to love. You won't regret reading this novel cause it's so interesting and intriguing. A good work. And you can also read the shares universe " Easy to deceive" if you haven't read it before. <<less

My problem is the typical run away trope. For GOD sake, what would happen if you fight for your own love? Working together, communicate and stuff. But nooo, lets give an ultimatum from the airport (to a romantically reserved caracter) run away, and wait to the other one to come, because “I want to be sure that my love is perfect”. Great, good for you I guess, but to me it sounds ridiculous. There is always uncertainty in a relationship, a “love you “ is not a miracle medicine. Constant care is more important than words, at least to me. I have to admit I am biased, I burnt out because of similar western romanc stories... I am also not too keen about the beat up the grown up adult grandson part.

This f*cking ate. It’s been a while since a novel deserved 5 stars from me, but I don’t have any complaints. I feel so... satiated. I’m actually typing this with a smile on my face at 2:00 am. I need to stop giggling to myself. Without further ado...

We have a very logical, abstinent, methodological ML and a flamboyant, king of the nightlife, detached MC meeting each other at a small bar next to the ocean. Their love FWB story starts there, and gradually (obviously) evolves into something... more>> more, both of them tangling with the implications of what “love” truly is to them when it previously was such a foreign concept.

I absolutely fell in love with our characters. The ML is seemingly a gentleman but holds quite the possessive streak, and he is an absolute sucker for the MC (who isn’t?) far before he realizes it. He’s just the perfect ML: an evolved wild dog from his teenage years to a blend of a serious CEO (to others) and an older gentleman (to our MC ofc). He’s so devoted and caring to our MC, not make his efforts flashy but embedding himself slowly into our playboy MC’s heart. Chef’s kiss to this man. Ugh.

Meanwhile, the MC is a character who is just so fascinating, you can see how the ML broke his rules for him—firm but wild, principled but daring, hardworking but unserious. When you have a walking box of contradictions, it’s tough to set up a narrative to make it all feel cohesive... but the author makes both characters so fleshed out. They breathe to you. When they cry, you cry. When they laugh, you laugh. The author doesn’t even need overly sad moments to evoke emotions—the characters, with their pasts and journeys, do it for you.

The story obviously focuses on their progression of romance, with a subplot of the MC’s career as a rising model (who gets there without the help of the ML, thank you very much), but every chapter keeps you engaged. It’s such an addicting read, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. It’s just so well-written, and I wish I can capture how whole this novel made me feel upon finishing it, but I’ll stop my yapping sesh here. Please do read! You won’t regret it. <<less

Awwwwwww...

I really love how their relationship unfolded! It kicked off with a one-night stand, both thinking it was just a quick fling. Then they landed in this weird gray area- not quite lovers, not quite partners- before finally becoming a couple. I just wish there were more couple moments to soak in! But hey, I appreciate that they hung out in the friends-with-benefits zone longer than usual. It really cranked up the longing, the heartache, and all that gooey love stuff.

And thank goodness there's no ex lurking around or anyone... more>> trying to throw a wrench in their romance! Plus, I dig how MC knows he's good-looking without being the type you want to punch. And the ML? Your classic cold, stoic CEO with some serious layers: he's surprisingly gentle and caring.

I'll admit it - I cried, I cried, and yep, I cried some more when they had to part ways. You totally get both sides, and it's clear it's for the best, even if it stings a bit.

Oh, and just a heads-up: the main story + extras wrapped up at Chapter 60, and the rest were all about those "what if" scenarios. Honestly, I wasn't too into that part but it's all good. I'm giving it a pass coz I really enjoyed this novel~ 😊 <<less

I really like this book. The MC is someone whose mentality and charisma many would probably admire. He beautiful, carefree, understanding, and just a person you would want to know or be like. The ML is more reserved, cold, but quite responsible. He is someone who will not make a move unless he was sure of his feelings. I quite admire that trait. I loved them together and also apart. There is a small separation in this story. I just want to say that when they meet after being apart,... more>> I am just breathless.

For the purity squad, MC has had other relationships previously but never a serious one. ML had a previous crush (as mentioned in the synopsis), but he's only been with MC. <<less

I truly enjoy the bumpy ride of this couple. From being slightly a fling, into something genuine and mature relationship.

l like the angst part as they're both clearly love & understand each other but yet decided to separate maturely. The separation itself is needed to both of them later on realize that they're inseparable.

One of the beauty of this novel is how they're both facing in their painful past, fear, insecurity, and later on bring the best quality of themselves when they're together.

I love everything about this!

I love a type of plot with a beautiful and charming protagonist paired with a handsome powerful attentive gentle and a bit possessive ml.

The way this story started immediately caught my eye. Who doesn’t love a passionate start with nothing more than attraction towards each other.

What rlly gave this more depth was a realistic time span and quite realistic troubles.

I mean they it would have been weird for the ML to start a friends with benefits relationship from the get go but an impulsive one night stand fits perfectly with his character.

I love how gently he treats the MC even after the first night. It seriously made me even swoon. The MC was also incredibly charming making my heart skip. Thats so important to me that I also have to fall in love with the characters to appreciate the story.

I also think that the half a year gap was a pretty good time span. Any longer would’ve been unfair to MC imo and shorter wouldn’t have been painful. The night in helsinki gave the whole plot more depth. You could rlly imagine the passion and longing both of them have for each other not knowing how to let go.

I think this is quite well written. Their feelings developing happened so seamlessly. All of their actions were so understandable. You could rlly tell how in love they are.

To summarize, this is a wonderfully passionate and somewhat simple story that rlly makes you resonate with the novel even though you haven’t went through the same process. <<less

I rarely go for Protagonist falls in love first, but this was a really good and sweet read. I love how the MC and ML slowly grew and allowed themselves the change that needed to happen.

Oh my freaking goddess this was the best it was amazing!!!The plot and characters was well written especially the MC and ML. The portrayal of their emotions was so good that it well touch you and relate to them especially the the parting scene in which I cried buckets! The Ml's fight for love had me swooning!And the extras was cute and shows you a different side of the ML- an ML that is steadfast in his conquer of love and will not complicate things or will not think to... more>> hard but will just act on his feelings and a much more darker side of him. But I just want to know if they got married in the extras and how did they come to grandpa Li -if they had come out to him? This is what just really irked me for it made me hanging but all in all it was the amazing!

The main story was pretty good! Would rate it at about 4.5 stars. Good characters, plot, and pacing. I binge read it in a day and it was an overall enjoyable read.

BUT!! I wish I didn't read the extras. The If Line: Personal Nurturing was not really my type and it kind of ruined the ML for me. Lol

The only regret I have is that why has this been sitting on my tbr for a long time not knowing it was a gem?

This has been an incredible journey not just for the two protagonists but also me, the reader. And the relationship is as mature as it can get. I just love how the MC didn't want to settle for less, and the ML overcoming his beliefs and flaws without forcing the MC, although our ML seems to be a little on the dark side, kinda stalker-ish. Not... more>> to mention that it focused heavily on the development of both MC and ML's entanglement.

It is such an amazing book with good writing. <<less

So I made a mistake.

Maybe a few mistakes. One being that I chose to read most of this novel at work knowing fully well what kind of emotional consequences it would invoke. Two—I’m now in my car on my lunch break choking up with feelings because I so desperately want the main CP to just kiss & make-up, live happily ever after blah blah blah. Now I’m 5 mins before my break is up & I fear that I won’t be paying attention to my upcoming meeting at all.

I don’t... more>> think this is a perfect novel. You should know what to expect when you’ve picked up a friends-to-benefits, status gap novel. Especially when you have a firecracker, can’t-be-tamed MC & an aloof, cold ML who’s half-baked at analyzing his own feelings. There’s bound to be trouble.

& Boy... was trouble indeed there.

I love me a good choke to the heart. It makes the later sweetness all the more worth it. The angst wasn’t dragged on for too long, which is what I preferred. Considering the amount of chapters, I think that pacing was decent. Worldbuilding is sparse but I’m here for the romance & the main couple, nothing else. This reads like a 4-star novel, but since it checked off a lot of my favorite features, I gave it a 5. Objectively-speaking, this novel is far from mindblowing, but it moved me & personally, that’s what tipped the scale. <<less

Beautiful, amazing, perfect and all the good adjectives there are in the world.

I absolutely love everything about the story, the characters (MC, ML and the supporting characters), the length (short but just enough maybe a bit short if im biased), the emotions (made me cry over beautifully wrotten relationship that I can understand) and the plot (a mix of everything you will want and need).

I love the MC and the ML the most, wonderful relationship that they havenproduced and the fairness imo the author have given to both characters.

I like that the characters are pretty mature and do communicate properly. MC seems more emotional, but he’s clear cut on what he wants and what he doesn’t want, he isn’t blind by love at all! ML character is more rational and restrained in reasonable way. It’s a nice short read. MC accidentally met and save ML when they were young, so ML take him back to ‘raise’ (or is it groom?) like kitty cat with possessive feeling. MC was 15 and ML was 20 I think? In what if story, ML is very obsessive and possessive and lack maturity. The story makes me feel intrigued but also leave a bad taste in my mouth.

The slow burn romance fits very well with the title of ‘blazing fire is hard to extinguish’. The leads step by step slowly get entrenched and fall for each other in their own ways, very aligned with their personalities and backgrounds which were nicely fleshed out.

The push-pull of a pure physical relationship to the signs of deeper attraction and subsequent confession and chasing were all very well paced and sometimes emotional.

But it was a bit lacking for me in terms of emotional engagement. Perhaps because the characters are quite emotionally... more>> stunted with regards to romance that it creates a POV that lacks that heart palpitating, burning, got to have you kind of romance that it feels like the novel is building up to.

I found myself being able to detach from the novel midway through and not need to binge it.

The extras were more emotionally gripping because you kind of know what is going to happen but
