Before her rebirth, Wei Luo was an innocent little girl.

After rebirth, she appeared lovable on the outside but was a different person on the inside.

Those who learned of her true nature yielded to her.

Only the prince regent regarded her as a treasure; no matter how much he pampered her, it was not enough for him.

Anything she wanted, he gave her, including the princess position that she didn’t want, which he stubbornly pushed onto her.

By far one of the worst novel I had the displeasure of reading. The main leads are extremely dislikeable (MC a b*tchy egoistic white lotus the ML a power abusing predatory g*ooming creeper), the author is overly biased towards main casts and give them ridiculous main lead halos and all the unlimited luck (monotonous winner winner chicken dinner).

The author's worst habit are the constant changes of the narrative, entire flow of the story/writing is an absolute mess. The high ratings simply confounding.

The novel title as well as synopsis is... more>> a click bait and false advertisement (reasons are in the spoilers).

I understand that this is set way back in the past but g*ooming and paedophilia is disgusting regardless of time (and even the background characters feel the age gap is too much). And yes, ML started g*ooming her from the age of 6.

The MC is more of a boring and unreasonable antagonist than protagonist. (Antagonists can be awesome, their character cannot be praised but at least the best they can do, is move the reader with their hardships, she's got none of that) Her original characteristics were already bad but after betrayals in her first life, she blackened beyond redemption. On a whole you can say she's a psychopath, everything she does is in her best interest, everything comes second.

Sure enough, her first life was terrible and she had suffered, but she is delusional enough to consider the world going against her than her own part in some of these miserable outcomes.
Spoiler

She got away after people planned to have her killed, she gets away, finds a temporary home and stays there. She knows her brother is still trapped in their birthplace. The step mother is out for him next, she just complacently lives in her temporary home, UNTIL she lost her place of belonging and seeks out her former home, only to find her brother in a much miserable state than she had left him in. But ofc, she blames everybody else but herself, when she could've notified someone of her step-mother's ploys or warn at least her brother of the two faced act of their step-mother, but nope. Nothing, nada, UNTIL she herself, is in trouble, she goes and seeks help for herself, not to see her beloved family.

[collapse]

Author might paint her as selfless from time to time but long time behaviour and results shows she's an absolute b*tch. She's in desperate need of some counselling.

Spoiler

Just a few more reasons why I hate MC are:

- she manipulates literally everybody without blinking and a guilty conscience, these lies often have too many flaws and it just feels like she's a psycho (pathological lying)

-loves to monopolize her belongings or people that she treats as belongings *cough* more psycho tendencies (lack of empathy)

and as mentioned in the first spoiler, she's also quite incapable of loving, ANOTHER psychopath characteristic

-materialistic and vain

-impulsive extremely aggressive behaviour, goes again full psycho from time to time and on normal occasions acting like a white lotus

-will even risk the death of the people she claims she cares for to achieve her goals or save her own life

-acts always like she's got the moral high ground even towards a frigging new-born and extends to even her best friends that always had her best in their interest

-compulsive lying; it may or may not be that she's too lazy to explain herself like speaking words would cost her life span but she'd tossing lies left and right to twist the narrative (mostly to her advantage)

-cockblocks literally every couple like she acts it's for their own good, but she could try helping them instead of breaking them up, if she invest with the same effort to harm people into helping people i'd like her a bit more...

[collapse]

And for the ML....

Spoiler

He began g*ooming her from the age of 6 and at least at the age of 11 he began harbouring s*xual interest in her that stayed firm during their parting for 2 years. At the age of her turning 13 he returned with strong signs of chasing and trying to posses her as an item, describing her like a indoor flower he raised with care and nobody else was allowed to touch.

And if that's not a clear declaration/indication for you that he's g*ooming her then IDK what else should make it obvious.

If she was ever "touched" she and the one who did the touching got serious repercussions and ML never shied away from impulsively hurting her either. So additionally to treating her like a pretty flower vase, it goes as far as low-key domestic ab*se. Besides that there's the classic chinese web novel background search, stalking, lurking and acting overly violent towards those who wronged her into a matter of life and death. With time, things even escalated to s*xual harassment, with MC clearly being confused and uncomfortable with his behavior but he had no signs of stopping any time soon.

The cherry on top has to be the perfunctory respect he has given her. Women back then obviously can be easily ruined by a rumor and he's gone many things that could've led to many many many misunderstandings.

He's publicly made moves on her, groped her even underneath the clothes, broke off her engagement with somebody else but had the opposition cancel the engagement (on the surface, it would seem like they're not satisfied with the bride) but also literally made her help with jerking him off like it's her responsibility BEFORE their marriage.

But hey, motherly author nerfs everybody's IQ so nobody has caught on except for those in need to harm them so their relationship progresses. Plot conveniences amirite?

OH, he r*ped her, twice. Scratch that, countless times, wouldn't give her v*gina a breather, kept going against her will, hurting and exhausting her nonstop to the point she can't walk on her own. A 16 year old by a 25 year old, yay. So romantic...

[collapse]

As for the inconsistencies, they're everywhere, not even kidding, from chapter one there are already a long list of questions for author. Two best examples are

Spoiler

1. MC's vast knowledge over everything despite her growing up on a country side, and even if those are rumors, she strongly believes and relies in those

2. Suddenly fur allergies, earlier chapters she hugged a dog in a box for half a day that was meant as a present for the ML and no allergic reactions happened. Later on, author narrates of MC hugging a dog to sleep as a child and had strong allergic reactions to it and claims that allergy been with her both in first and second life.

[collapse]

To sum it up, I'll compare it with tr*sh reality TV, the telenovela levels of idiotic. You can fall asleep to it or you can enjoy it, by no means ever take it seriously. This is like a worse version of '50 shades of grey' without fan service but still got it's toxic and twisted casts. People say it's fluffy, but with all the red flags, it's really hard for those who noticed it to enjoy it without feeling extremely awkward.

The only pro to all the con is that it's at least not an angsty novel...

but frustrating nonetheless in its own idiocy.

And a special note to the younger audience, the romance is very twisted and dangerous predatory and harmful signs are being romanticized. It is downright toxic, the Joker tossed Harley out of the window but are still being romanticized as an ideal couple type of toxic.

Do NOT look for a man like ML, ever.

Translation was superb, author's writing was poop. <<less

I'm tired of these type of novels. Basically the villains's job in these type of novels is to make look better the female leads.

They're villains just because they are, there is not a explanation about why their behavior is like that and the female lead would judged them based on what their did to her on her previous life without certain knowing if they would acting like that again. For example, the MC's sister, like always, she is the bad party, but Wei Lou (MC) never think that her sister's... more>> behavior was because her mother (MC's stepmother) teaching her to be competitive because her father loves more Wei Lou than her. Because the wrong decisions of their parents her sister is bad with FL. But what does Wie Lou do? She decides that her sister, a five year old girl, is a bad person and seeks vengeance for it. Really? How mature of you, MC.

Also, she is mad with her fiance from her past life because he married her sister, but Wei Lou never thought that was because she was lost 9 years (her stepmother thrown her to a river thinking she was dead) . Girl, he wasn't going to wait forever for you and even worst being an arranged marriage, I believe the groom's parents insisted on continuing the marriage with the other Lou girl.

Another part that disgusting me was that there's a dog's fight, they gamble on which dog would win and the loser dog, if it is still alive, will get cooked.

This is only the novel's beginning and I didn't read the romance part, which based on this first chapters, I guess it will be terrible. <<less

The more chapters I read, the more I dislike the characters to the point I almost wish they had a bad ending.

The main heroine has no redeeming features except "great beauty". This would make her dull to read but that would have been understandable, she died as a 15ish year old commoner in her first life and went back in time to her 6 year old self. However, dozens of chapters in she is reaching marriageable age and despite being internally 20ish years old, you find that she has not... more>> changed much compared to the beginning chapters and her choices just make her seem callous and her methods are far from smart, its hilarious how most descriptions about her is always about her beauty, because frankly she has nothing else.

Spoiler as an example:

She has a verbal engagement from childhood and she admits her fiance whom she knew since young treats her very well and sincerely, but during the 6-8 years since she went back in time, she did nothing to end this situation or hint at that she wasn't interested and when the very day the other party's family came to discuss the engagement/marriage she thought it was fine to tell the guy that she has no feelings for him and likes someone else and somehow this would hurt him less. <<less

This novel extremely annoyed me to the point I can't continue reading. The reason is simple: MC is a little brat who is quick to judge people based on her previous life experience, which is poor and certainly not nearly enough to hate some characters. Like, MC, you changed so much in your life from the very childhood, are you sure others won't change?

She is spoiled rotten by her siblings, beautiful and somewhat smart (or maybe everyone else is dumb), so it's straight up boring to watch her bully pitiful... more>> side characters, who, for some time, are kids! Innocent children, who never did anything to you, MC. WHY? The romance is cute, but both MC and ML act inconsistent with their age and experiences, so it's a bit disturbing.

Overall, if you can stand white lotus MC, check it out. I prefer novels where good things go to genuinely good people. <<less

I've read some comments about Wei Luo being ruthless and evil but I actually really like this part of her personality...I don't like ladies who act virtuous on the outside but are evil on the inside and kill people with other people's hands. Wei Luo was a character that came as refreshing to me and I loved the paring with Zao Jie although he appeared a little creepy to me sometimes lol. Loved this novel and would recommend. 10/10 <3

It was one reading experience with a little bit funny, a lot of fluffy and romance, some scheming and family love.

It started with a little bit heavy plot but as the story progressed, eventually became light and fun.

If you like dominant ML's character with power and possessive traits, this is a novel for you.

... more>> For MC 's character, she describes as a very beautiful, smart and noble lady. She also holds grudges and sometimes a little bit petty. But that imperfect character made her more realistic.

I have plan to reread this novel in the near future.

And then of course I wouldn't be able to enjoy this story without translator's hardwork. If there is another rating for translation quality, I'd like to give 10/10 stars. The translator did amazing job and she keeps consistent updates, this make me admire her professionalism (although she knows very well this job is without salary). <<less

This is such a cute and refreshing story. It doesn't deserve one star rating, like come on. Even if you don't like the storyline, the 'world' the author created is enough for it to get a decent rating star. The whole details make me in awe.

Spoiler

Activate your ancient setting mind. There's nothing wrong for an adult man (in the ancient Chinese era) marrying a 15 years old girl (which is a marriageable age). Also there's nothing wrong for the ML to keep an eye on the MC practically for 10 years before he got to marry her. Hubby gotta keep future wifey in the palm of his hand or else someone will try to steal her, no?

ML is a sucker for MC. Their scenes together are so adorable (and naughty) if you don't consider their age differences (again, turn on your ancient era mind). The kissing scenes tho /Lord/

Ps. Forget all the antagonist characters, the one that needs a beating is the emperor. The empress deserves more than him ugh somebody kick him for me.

OMG I'm having a bit of a hard time to read this for one simple reason.

The ML is a total creep. A man in his 20s going around trying to get a 13 year old girl to love him.

Wtf.

She's even trying to ignore him but he continues to press on. All. The. Time.

I love Li Song (he is villain actually).. But cute.

Story about Wei Luo and Zhao Jie. How fate bring them close together.

Wei Luo already died but she got second chance. Her soul was back to the body when she was little. Now she must survive and try to change her life.

Cinderella story in Ancient China, except she is not poor. And I also love Wei Luo father. He is reasonable man.

This story is sweet. I'm just reluctant to finish this since I am rooting for Li Song. I'm a sucker for underdogs T_T

Edit:

Spoiler

There is an alternate ending where Ah Luo ended up with Li Song, but it is unsure if that was real or just a dream. I guess author has some conscience after all

Chongfei Manual has to be one of those books, where you just can't stop reading. Unless it is getting translated. It is a really short read, compared to those novels with 1000+ chapters, and with way less dramatic twists and and barely any useless chapters that are not needed.
Spoiler

The female lead is considered like drop dead gorgeous or at least in the ML's thoughts. She captured the male lead from early on and secured her place in his heart without her knowing. In this relationship, Zhao Jie was the 100% pursuer and Wei Luo had a very tsundere vibe to her. Never less, the interactions between them are considered loving, and Zhao Jie pampers her to no extent. The love rivals didn't make a huge impact on the plot, as Gao Dan Yang (likes ML) is shipped away to a distant country as a bride and Li Song is stuck with Wei Luo's cousin. The engament between the Song House and Ah Luo was cunningly broken by Zhao Jie, so Song Hui disappeared later on.

[collapse]
Well, anyways this novel is a must read and though the romance is a little slow paced cause there is a huge age gap between them, when Zhao Jie starts thinking about marrying her, he starts making advances at Ah Luo.

Great story... rebirth to change her life and turn things around for better life. With some revenge for those that hurt her. Slow but interesting plots unfold started from young age of 6. At least she has father and brother who love her... and her princely ‘brother ‘ who spoilt her.

This isn't completely horrible I guess, but I just finished Rebirth of a Malicious Empress from Military Lineage (damn that name is so long and clunky) and THAT time travel one was so good that Chongfei Manual totally pales in comparison.

This story is in some awkward suspension between a reverse harem and an OTP with a super possessive male lead. There isn't really much of a plot. I think the author's main priority is getting the main female lead and main male lead together... But their relationship doesn't feel satisfying... more>> to me, especially after reading the OTP from Rebirth of a Malicious Empress from Military Lineage whose male lead was actually jealous in an exciting way. In Chongfei Manual, the male lead is jealous in a boring, misogynistic way. In Chongfei Manual, there's just too much misogyny and oppressive patriarchal baggage for me to enjoy the romance. When I read Chinese/Japanese light novels, I have to sort of dissociate a bit and ignore the sexism and otherwise piles of problems... and I guess I did that for like a good half this novel but I can't keep it up.

Someone should also add the lo*icon tag. I don't mind much older male leads, but only AFTER the female lead is completely of age. Even though technically in her mind, the female lead is basically the same age as the male lead, the fact of the matter is that in her body she is not. (I ALWAYS thought about this in Rebirth of... Military Lineage LOL like, Shen Miao basically like a 40 year old. Cougar!!!???) and from the perspective of the male lead, the female lead in Chongfei Manual is a child...

Spoiler

DID NOBODY ELSE THINK IT WAS UNSPEAKABLY CREEPY HE WAS EXCITED FOR HER FIRST PERIOD? 0_0

[collapse]

Oh, and I don't understand what was the purpose of the second and third "male leads" (can I even call them male leads? I mean they were also in love with the main female lead) :

Spoiler

I really don't understand the main female lead's animosity towards the both of them. I understand taking revenge and feeling bad from your previous life, but her attitude and her actions really felt heavy-handed. I actually felt so bad for both Song Hui and Li Song.

Spoiler for Rebirth of Malicious... Military Lineage:

Compare Song Hui and Li Song to Pei Lang. Yes, Shen Miao hated him and was angry and took her revenge, but like... she did exactly what was reasonable. And he got what he deserved. But there was a limit, and she also eventually stopped hated him and torturing his heart with her animosity.

[collapse]

I should rate this story even lower, but the ratings on here are way inflated anyways. Maybe 4 years ago I would have found this romance super titillating but now it just feels super flat. I don't feel interested in finishing this... I honestly just picked this up because its premise was similar to Rebirth of a Malicious Empress from Military Lineage in that both main female leads died a first life and woke up to a time when they were younger and had a "second chance" to take pre-emptive measures against the villains in their lives. But whereas Rebirth of a Malicious Empress felt epic, Chongfei Manual feels like a third-rate s*xual fantasy... Dx <<less

Been putting this novel on hold because of so many negative reviews and finally pick this up because I was craving for obsessive "doting" ML and that's what I got.

Considering this came out years ago it's understandable if it's not to your liking since everyone taste will changed over years but it's not as bad as what everyone portrays in the comments.

i think I saw a comment that said FL became more unlikable as the chapter goes and I couldn't understand why as I was reading this because.

Spoiler

she's neither vicious or scheming or even implicated innocent people. Mind you, she died at 15 in her past life and live her like a normal rural girl with not much knowledge about the world, the first thing she did after being reborn is to protect herself and her brother against their step mother, her main focus aside of protecting her brother is learning of how to be like a "lady" from a noble house and beautifying herself. Despite her being dead once her mentality is still that of a 15 yrs old girl so don't expect her to be magnanimous or calm like other FL, she also didn't take any action against the evildoers in her past life unless they take action first. She may not have great moral but she's not evil

the age gap that everyone was "disgusted" and enraged about. First of all dont read ANCIENT CHINA novel with your modern mindset and then give negative reviews because the characters were acting like ancient people. Some of y'all are so f*cking dumb it's unbearable to read

ML (Zhao zie) is older by 9yrs but the ML did not do anything to FL before she was 14! Being 15 and marrying someone in their 20s is Normal back then, some emperor in their 50s even have concubine this age so if you can't stomach that please stick with your modern novel

What I despise about this novel

Spoiler

this could be potentially a 5 star novel but the author is bad at executing the cannon fodders ending. The writing is good except that part, the "villain" ending especially the women were so unnecessary and s*upid. Their "retribution" far exceeded of what they committed. I don't know what the s*upid author was thinking. This novel is exactly those that have a very OP MC and ML and where the small villain cannon fodder suffer for "offending" the MC nor breath the same air as them and the vicious ML will use his power to suppress or kill them

Spoiler

Li song, this mf should be skin alive for treating his wife such a way. I hope he died a miserable life in every lifetime and he didn't deserve that s*upid second chance whatsoever in the Extra chapter

I absolutely loved reading these one-star reviews. I agree with most of what they're saying but somethings are judged from the wrong perspective. Yes, ML is creepy I 100% agree with everyone on this because I am not even halfway into the story and my skin crawls at some of his thoughts about MC.

One thing I definitely can't agree with is her getting over the past. I can't say what I would do if I was MC, but I do know that I would want to take revenge on what... more>> happened in the past, especially if it left me helpless. Some things can't just be let go of in the case of MC she's clearly carrying a heavy burden and doesn't know how to let go of it so just bear with her.

After reading the spoilers on her half-sister I do not think she deserved the ending she got. It was so uncalled for, and her actions could've never warranted such retribution. I mean come on she's clearly just a jealous teenager.

Li Song is truly the s*um I thought him to be he deserves death. Something is definitely wrong with those of you who are saying that you actually like him and pity him. I cannot see where those opinions are coming from.

But. These comments are enough for me to drop this novel and I don't know if I'll pick it up again. BTW, the reason I came to read these spoilers in the first place is because the novel was moving really slow and I needed some motivation. This was really some great motivation!! <<less

Okey, I read This tr*sh a while ago, but, checking what ratting a gave I read a comment that Im compelled to answer to.

Lets forget about all the others red, like crimsom red, red flags there are. Lets Talk about the age gap.

There is this comment about how, as it is a novel based in the ancient times, the while romance its somehow okey. Not only I agree with that, but Just yesterday I used It in one comment in the "to be a dodder flower" novel.

There I talked about... more>> Emma (Jane Austen's) and how that particular age gap its not that bad.

Age gaps are not bad pero se, its about the context. There are two main points about that, and they are born from the same question. At what age do they meet?

Lets say they meet as in the novel (and This novel, as far as my memory goes, does not have that much of an age gap, like ten years?). There are two main outcomes of This.

1. They do meet as child and teenager, but they don't see each other often, or there is a point in time where they don't see each other for years and when they meet again they are grown up. That gives you a sense of first impresion, as if they meet for the first time. And usually the feeling of "This is a child" is no more on the older partner. You have time and a chance to develop feelings without being a creep.

Then we have the other way around. The meet as in this novel, and they grow up side by side till they start their romance. Some would call This g*ooming, and in of the same mind. You may think that he "doesn't think about her from the start" and that he "doesn't groom her from the beginning", but lets be clear, the "he is the ML" feeling starts from the beginning.

Not only that, but he is half the novel thinking about her as a baby, a child thats playing grown up. And then one day (when she is like 12 and he almost 30?) He is like, oh, she's pretty. What??

And let me tell you, the comment above that's about "its the ancient times", the coming of age/hairpin ceremony for Girls was 15, and when you are 20/30 3 years are not a difference, but 12 and 15 are surely not the same. It can be a die in childbirth difference, and its certainly a know/not know what s*x is different. When you are 12 (more so if you are a girl) you don't care about s*x unless they tell you about It.

And lets be clear, when you go for the "its about x time/century and It was socially right" its not about the book/story pero se, its about the writter. For Jane Austen, the Brönte sisters, and so on authors, that was acceptable. Today is not.

And im not about "lets not write about This cause its morally wrong (bc there are many many reasons to write like This, like parodies or controversy, like GOT). Its about (another) two things (but this time im goong to be quicker) A. He could do a time skip (either well or bad written, This novel its not about quality). B. He could have done a narrower age gap (lets say 8 and 12), then you start the romance when she's 15 for all I care (even if its a little weird).

Let me say one very true thing. We become our actions. This stands for when you act against your moral guides, once, twice, and so one, then you obsorb those as tour own.

Its the same with reading. We become what we read. You start thinking, WoW This is not right, the its "meh I don't mind It", and on It goes.

This is not a social critic novel, and the author knows It. And so the implicit message It gives (wether the author wants It or not) is "This Is okey".

2. (I had to scroll up to recall what I was talking about XD) The meet when they are more than 22 or more and they are both adults, then I would say its fine. And maybe you'll think, why not when she's 15? Cause in that time that would be right, right? Well I wouldn't agree with that in the same way of the "Im what I read way". That wide age gap wouldn't be necessary for the plot, and It may at the end lead you to think things would be okay even today.

A good example would be GOT, and This novel uses controversy to gather attention, and It translates in the show (in*est being the biggest) but in the Khal-Dany relationship they don't translates the "she's 12 (or 14? I don't recall) yo the show. And some of you light think its because the p*rnography (and thats indeed a good point), but there's a lote of shows that show teenager s*x as plot.

The biggest reason would be, would you see a show where a 12/14 girl has s*x with a grown up? No. It would have ended at the pilot, canceled. Bc even if you advocate for the "It was ok at that century", we are not at that time, and books/TV shows have a great deal of influence in us. Thats why modern takes of old stories usually adapt them talking away those tiny bits of "This is not right" that can be something like the age gap. Like clueless.

And I feel I have to excuse myself here, why I read this? And eventhought It was years ago, I was still mature enought to understand that This was bad. So lets faces other Big problem. We have certain mentallity that because she's reborn, she should be 16/20 (I think?). And thats kind of a problem, we only see It from the MC, but HE DOESN'T KNOW IT. He thinks (and there's even another comment that talks about how shes mentally a child still BC trauma) shes a child, eventhougth she's smart, or mature, she, fisically, is a child. And thats not okey. So may you think twice befire you read another of This kind of romance. He is a pe*ophile, whether shes mentally older or not. Think of It This way, today, would you condone a relationship between a mature/childprodigy and a fully grown adult? No? Then This is almost the same.

And This is where I finish, bc there are a lot, lot more of red flags the biggest for me (and the reason I stopped reading This) was the feeling of r*pe. And yes, I say r*pe, bc almost every time they had s*x It gave me the feeling of her not wanting to. And thats where I draw the lime, seriously, why do asians feel like Girls should shy away/dislike sex??

Apologies for the grammar, its a mix of not being my mothertongue and my corrector (?). <<less

The heroine of this novel, Wei Luo, had experienced a bad ending in her first life due to the fact that she was the legitimate daughter of the first wife of the 5th son of the Duke of Ying (her step-mother disliked her and arranged for her to be sold to s*ave traders.) For most of her life back then, she lived with a poor farmer couple who had lost their only son. And, because they wanted her to marry their dead son and become his ghost bride, she ran... more>> back to her real family to get back her identity as the legitimate daughter -- only to be harmed by her stepmother and ended up dying in the streets. When she woke up to find that she was reborn, she decided that she would get revenge for her previous life and do her best to live the most flourishing life that she can.

OVERVIEW: TBH, this novel is like the prequel to "reborn" or "transmigration" stories where the OG!FL has a protagonist halo that leads everyone around her who has even the slightest of bad intentions to the worst possible fate. All the while, she dose nothing to earn it outside of being beautiful and a little crafty. I didn't realize such novels actually existed. Seeing it now, I kept reading just to see what the fuss was about XD. It's really bad. The novel itself has some interesting parts, but if you have normal worldviews, then you're going to suffer a lot while reading this. I almost dropped it several times, but I persisted for a while because I wanted to see how bad it got. And well. It was bad. The endings most of the "cannon fodder" characters got were horrible. Like, really horrible.

WARNINGS FOR MAJOR SPOILERS AND TRIGGERING TOPICS:

Spoiler

For example, the FL's half-sister, Wei Zheng, was married off to the cruelest male supporting lead and then arranged to be gang r*ped by him (probably repeatedly, since she only continues to get worse). The thing is, yes, she had joined her mother in disfiguring the FL in the past life, but that was due to her mother's instigations. In this life, she had some small schemes, but-- sigh. Anyway, there's also the girl that liked the ML. She waited for him for years, until she grew so old that it was difficult for her to marry. And because she had tried to chase off the FL with a few harmless words, she was married off to a fickle prince who beat her until she miscarried... LIKE. WTH. In the end, the FL didn't purposefully harm them, it's the author who wanted to provide contrast, I guess? Only, it ended up going all wrong. It just ruins the mood of the novel and makes the FL and ML look cruel. Which, I guess they are. That was never a secret from the beginning. *big sigh* anyway, yeah, that's a thing. It makes the novel really hard to like. No matter how good some parts may be, and how good the style of writing is, as a whole, it's a novel that can only be considered bad.

OTHER PROBLEMS: All in all, this novel has so many problems that I can't honestly recommend it. Just the age gap between the FL and ML alone is enough for it to be questionable, nevermind all the other problems it has. Still, if you're like me and you want to see what the "OG!FL" of those reborn or transmigration novels are like (where the cannon fodder counterattacks and such XD) then I'd recommend at least checking it out. It's truly ridiculous fjwlakfjlakjf.

Rating: 3/5

Tbh, the author's writing is really good. I'm talking about the prose -- like their way of describing things and the details that they provide. When it comes to content, it's not so good. Like, for this novel, there is absolutely no direction. At first it seems like its all about revenge, but that's set pretty early, and it's not satisfying at all because the FL doesn't actively participate in most of it. She just borrows the knife of others and causes those who slight her even just the slightest bit to have the most horrible ending. As for the the romance between the FL and ML, the age gap kind of ruins it (and things happen before she turns of age, which ruins it even more. I thought it would be like other historical novels, where the feelings are innocent until then, but NOPE.) I thought that the early development was pretty good, but then it became all about smut and it ruined everything. Altogether, this story had great potential, and I can see why there's people that like it. But yeh. The content is definitely extreme. <<less
