It was a light read with a healthy protagonist who loves food and a male lead who loves to f*ck.

That's right, he loves f*cking MC.

MC is not your beautiful female lead described in k-novels nowadays, rather she seems to be on the cuter side which cannot be called beautiful (?). I hope it makes sense. Well Beauty is subjective, and ML sees the beauty inside her--I mean in her. You'll know what I mean when you read the novel. Haha

But I must warn those readers who hate infidelity plots.

Spoiler

here, as you know, ML is married but he doesn't have any physical relationship with his wife, he is rather cold to her. Now now, before judging him, know that his wife, Sonya is cheating too. They're just married on paper and don't like to see each other's shadow. But they're seen as this beautiful loving couple by the society.

Both of them admit that they're too similar and thus will never fall in love.

So basically they're both cheating on each other. Honestly, for me I don't like cheating plots no matter what happens, if you're married or even engaged, and flirting or sleeping with someone, doesn't matter whether you are committed to him/her that is still cheating in my book. I read books to escape reality, not to relive it. Please.

But this wasn't really cheating so I kind of had to convince myself.

Anyways, coming to MC, she's kinda funny and charming in her own way. And definitely different from those noble ladies.

ML and MC's relationship is based on s*x at first. They just liked sleeping with each other, but the ML started feeling jealous and possessive when he got to know someone was trying to court FL. It was entertaining to see his burts of jealousy and the way he f*cked her later.

ML is said to have f*cked other women left and right before he met MC. Well, he wasn't really likeable at first.... Not that he became likeable to me later. But I guess he became more bearable (?).

Now I want to say something about Sonya (ML's wife, who later became his ex wife at the end of the story) and Albert (Sonya's lover)

Spoiler

they didn't get a happy ending. Because Sonya was too selfish. It was mentioned at the last chapter that she went ahead to marry the prince of a kingdom.

I felt really bad for Albert because Sonya had the upper hand in their relationship. He just accepted whatever she gave. But at least he later got to realise that she didn't love him. Maybe she was attached but she was too selfish to leave everything behind for him. Love that he left her first before she could dump him to find his own identity.

I don't really blame Sonya, she always wanted to be the head of the family but couldn't, because women weren't accepted as the head of the family. So her title (as the head of the family, which she wanted, was given to an illegitimate child, her half brother. Her half brother is not a bad guy, infact he even saved MC when she got kidnapped.)

Their story (Sonya's and Albert's) was pretty realistic. Especially on how the upper circles and the lower circles in the society worked.

[collapse]

Overall, a decent read. But I can't say I liked it. I couldn't properly enjoy it because ML's ex wife was still married to him till the end of main story. Ughh

Also, MC falling in love was a little.... tasteless? that's how I felt.

3.5/5 for me.

But honestly some people might like it. Do give it a chance if you want to read non angsty, light read story. <<less

So. Many. Jealous. Outbursts. And I'm eating it up like the degenerate I am. Korean authors really know how to scratch that itch for unhinged, possessive male leads who have no business being this obsessed, and I, for one, am grateful.

this isnt your usual clean-cut historical romance since the male lead is married. Tied the knot in a politically arranged marriage with a stunning, high-born wife. He's your classic lazy, arrogant, rich-as-sin duke who's basically a historical-era f**kboy with a title. You will want to punch him, and also maybe...... more>> not.

FMC is a delight. I like her carefree attitide towards life. The story frames her as basically one scandal away from spinsterhood (not my words, society's), and unlike your typical "fragile waif of a heroine, " she's described as "plump" and cute but not fat — because God forbid. Insert eyeroll here. She's deliciously curvy, carefree, kind, and frankly too good for everyone around her. She doesn't care that people whisper behind her back or that she's unmarried. She just wants to vibe, eat good food, and live her life — and that's exactly why our idiot duke likes her so much

they start an affair. The duke, who usually never goes back for seconds, suddenly finds himself unable to let her go. He's clingy, needy, and so possessive it's honestly hilarious. Sir, you are married. Sit down.

Things get juicy when our FMC's life starts picking up. New men notice her. A marriage proposal lands in her lap. And what does the duke do? Throws tantrums like a toddler denied his favorite toy. I live for his pathetic jealousy. It's giving "you're mine and no one else can have you" energy.

I cannot wait to see our girl start pushing back a little — stop worrying about displeasing this man-child and let him stew. I'll be waiting patiently (okay, impatiently) for the next chapters. Translator-nim, you are doing the Lord's work. Please don't keep us starving for too long. xo <<less
