Suzuki, an adult programmer, suddenly notices that he’s been thrown into a different world while wearing casual clothes at level 1. He gained high levels and treasures after using the 3 times use-disposable-magic, Meteor Shower, at once. After that, he intends to do different world “sightseeing tours”?

He meets 3 beast girls, beautiful purple and black-haired sisters, and an eccentric blonde-haired elf girl along with various people during his trip. Although there are occasional fighting with demons and demon lords, this is a heartwarming fantasy story at heart.

If you're reading this for life-and-death struggles, even shallow character development, clever battles of wit, or common sense, don't bother.

This is like The Truman Show of isekais, and that's why people love it. The food, a loosely generated world that shows occasional flashes of inspiration, and a never-ending flood of new waifu-level characters, overconfident antagonists, and puffed-up nobles keep people returning. And of course, the overwhelming focus on slice-of-life. There's one part where the author spends three chapters building up a monster confrontation only for it to be resolved in... more>> half a throwaway sentence in a chapter where the protagonist spent completely searching for mushrooms.

This isn't really a story. It's more of an experience. For five minutes a week, dip your brain into Satou putting together another slapdash five part holy sword with random stacked enchantments outclassing anything the world created, blowing away some two hundred year old monster-thing, then preparing alien whale meat for a hot pot. That's all it is. No more, no less; and that's fine.

The only problem is that I don't see how the author can keep this up. Its neverending, danger-free nature is its whole selling point, and if it actually ever gains a semblance of a permanent plot progression (like it seems to be about to be doing), it will actually detract from the whole thing. <<less

Wow I love this novel so much. I read it from 2016 back then.

The writer thoroughly input almost all isekai element in this novel. Sudden summoning, kidnapped summoning, hero summoning, reincarnated person, godly blacksmith (his weapon can damage a god), high ranking explorer, high ranking mercenary, high rangking noble, demon lords, and so many more

I think this novel is the ultimate japannese isekai novel with almost all element input in there.

been 4 years and I just can't stop reading this novel

the world building is interesting, even though the author glossed over some region at first, he eventually got back there and delves further

the plot is swallow at first (just MS touring the world to take in the view together with his little party), but it builds up little by little and then you realized just how deep it actually is. A lot of little details that were just mentioned in passing in the early chapter actually have their purposes and... more>> are foreshadowing the actual plot. This make the novel worth to reread several times just to make sure you didn't miss anything

this webnovel also have a light novel version which is more of an "director's cut" version. It explain the world even further, clarify some vague events and fix some of WN's plotholes

all in all, a very satisfying read <<less

I've read most of what's been translated and it's been a good read. If you want a light hearted fantasy where MC blows up common sense 24/7, then you probably will enjoy this novel.I personally enjoy the easy going atmosphere that the story brings.

It's.... ok.

There is a story creeping along ever so slowly that seems like it will be pretty interesting. Eventually. If you just condensed the story progression, character development, and action sequences down, you'd probably have about 50ish chapters.

What I don't like is the amount of time/text spent detailing things like who dismembered which monster after every encounter, how this day they used this monster meat with these spices, ate in this order, etc, and then the next meal is also detailed more or less the same with slight variations, etc.... more>> To me this seems quite tedious and unnecessary after you describe it once unless something substantially different or meaningful to later events takes place.

The MC is super OP. This is made clear very early in the story. I don't have any probs with this as it's just the starting point the author has picked for the story. Once it's been established, there is almost no tension in any of the action sequences that come thereafter except for the MC trying to hide his OPness because 'reasons'. Therefore, you could pretty much just gloss over the combat scenes where he doesn't even need to do the minor task of holding back, and replace them with 'X monsters of type A were killed and scavenged by the MC's harem'. The problem for me is that I instead have to read through the entire scenario lengthily described down to who took which bits from which monster and how much of the meat was stored, and later another 2-3 chapters will be allocated for the meal in which they eat said meat.

The character development is mostly in the form of their skills rising, with little in the way of them developing mentally or interacting with one another in a meaningful way. Even interactions between the MC and the harem members are mostly superficial, with light hearted jealous reactions and attempts to win more attention from the MC being the daily repetitive activities of the harem. If you scan/skip 4/5 of the story you pretty much miss nothing.

I've given it a 3 overall because the story, while thin and in early stages despite so many chapters has been interesting up to this point, and while the fluff parts bored me more than a few times, the story hasn't made me feel pissed. It more or less leaves me with a mildly pleasant feeling after reading it. The boring stuff I just scan over and skip/ignore. <<less

Excellent Story, Excellent World Building and Story, of Which is supported by multiple POVs, OP Character who is able to manage things, despite his taste and love-dullness. Definitely one of the Best Reads!!

take note that it's a slice of life before an adventure one, so don't expect some fast development, enjoy!

It offer great adventure, full of moe, I love its side stories and others pov.

But I don’t really like the MC, he is far too op, got so many unused skills, too idealistic, too beta, like a hypocrite person.

Tama, pochi, and liza really hooked me to keep liking this novel.

Don't know what's those low ratings for. The worldbuilding is marvelously done and the side characters are interesting and memorable, each with distinct personality.

The MC is probably the most decent and likable character I've encountered.

I don't understand why some says he's a hypocrite, his actions are reasonable so far. And even if he is a hypocrite, it doesn't spoil the story for me.

The story and translation are good. Worth five stars.

[Ive been following the novel from the time when volume 4 hasn't been translated yet.]

This is the definition of stereotypical Japanese novel. With that said the MC is ultra op girls love him left and right and he is a pu*sy that doesn't want to kill anyone.

Like most Japanese novels MC has a Harem that he doesn't touch. But that is because or light reasons (MC sleeps with girls just not the main girls at least not yet) but the romance is nice.

The MC is op as f*ck and can do pretty much anything but it isn't boring.

There are are a lot is typically... more>> Japanese standard story templates but it's done in an interesting way.

The story is good as in there is a decent plot and I don't mean b**bs.

The reason I am giving it a 4/5 is that the 16 volume had a slightly weak start (first 5 or so chapters) that got me to leave the novel for a few months till chapters piled up and it's good again. Well there might be 1-3 chapters per volume that are boring be it about side characters that you don't like or going into too much detail about food.

Overall if if you are into that the genre of transported/reincarnated into another world this is a must read. <<less

First. Let me clear one thing. I like this novel. However, This novel is totally s*upid AF. Why? Because this novel is something you should never take seriously. Because if you do, you'll definitely get a big headache. I recommend this novel to people who doesn't have anything to do (ex: Me), Want a huge amount of laughs (ex: Me) and likes a story that doesn't go anywhere (ex: Me)

Now for the Proper review.

Story : 2/5

Like I said Earlier, this novel doesn't go anywhere. Considering that, it doesn't deserve... more>> a score 3/5 points and above (Although I actually like the lack of story of this novel)

Characters: 4/5

I actually like all the characters including Satou. The almost all of the characters in the novel has a light and carefree personality as their common sense was totally broken by Satou. The only reason why this novel doesn't have 5/5 points is because this novel has absolutely no character development (Although you actually don't need that in a carefree novel)

Theme 5/5

This novel has 5/5 for the theme of not getting serious about everything. This novel makes me laugh in almost every chapter. If it does not, then you'll definitely laugh at the next chapter <<less

Love this story!

The MC actually acts like a grown man with experience in both programming and playing games! So many complaints on here are hate because he isn't s*upid, overly immature, a typical Japanese beta male, a pe*ophile, or a typical xianxia justice/honor obsessed idiot. Nor does he just charge into battles and situations s*upidly. If other people can't handle seeing a competent main character who prepares for situations ahead of time and can comprehend the word discretion then it sucks to be them because I love the story.

This story is one of those that gave me hope that it will be good but my hopes were shattered like a broken heart, this is the absolutely worst of the comedy genre as basically there is no comedy in it, the fighting scenes are irrelevant to the story I accept that but the characters are so annoying and why are they of so young age so there kills the romantic side which can be displayed.

Those of you who like adventure and slice of life would like this as he... more>> is perfect as he is not a stingy bastard and the places which he visits are well described to me this story feels always like the time travel currently impossible to do.

It gave me a valuable lesson as everything is not going to happen the way you want it to happen. <<less

A good MC character doesn't have to be someone who's arrogant, and flaunts around his superiority like many hormone-induced teens dream up.

Satou is a fine level-headed character who does things methodologically and logically. He HAS personality, though probably not what many teen readers (physically and mentally) would consider ideal.

It's slice of life novel about food, lolis, touring and bit fighting in fantasy setting. Oh and its also about food. There's a lot of side characters so it can be confusing. I personally liked it for first 5 or so volumes but after that it just gets repetitive. Nothing interesting happens and its just about food, boring interactions and food.

This novel is like mountain, you just start from the top, afterwards its all downhill. It's boring but some people like this kind of genre. This is improved version of... more>> s*ave harem which is even more boring.

Characters are really one dimensional and after while your eyes just start to glaze over.

PS. There is lot of food related stuff in novel.

PS. How do <<less

Somewhere in this web novel, the story had changed. I swear this novel turned into some food novel where the MC spreads the “wonderful” knowledge of Japanese foods. Also the MC has turned into one of those OP self righteous characters (not in the violent sense).

Boring and repetitive honestly. And the ever growing harem was starting to wear thin on my patience.

Personally I didn't find this novel comedic, so I don't really get the comedy tag. It's alright for what it is. An op japanese MC in another world and his ever growing harem. It's clear from the get go what you are going to get.

lnv wrote a lengthy review, but to be honest, it's hard to agree with it. Even reading the review makes one think that the lady doth protest too much, if... more>> that makes sense. Essentially I feel like their review manages to misunderstand the valid criticisms that people have against the novel. Almost all women do fall in love with the MC, almost all men are grateful/there to make him look better. He is OP, that is the entire point of his character. These things are fine to have. That is the point of this novel. It's wish fulfilment nonsense. There is no plot. That's the point of slice of life. The point of him saving the s*ave girls was not because he's a nice guy, but so all the male readers can live vicariously through that sense of being a savior and being the "best" (moral) person in the world.

We can have all these things and that to be okay. The point of stories like these aren't to have crazy high level plots and deep thought provoking ideas, but for people to read as a time waster and enjoy the fact that the MC is op and surrounded by girls that love and want him. <<less

The novel is cool.

Could've been cooler if it wasn't for all the typical "all pretty girls love the mc" harem trope and the overly boring obsession with baths and food and all the intermission and side stories.

Like a little bit of it was ok but the author kept taking it too boring lvls.

... more>> Most of the intermission and side stories didn't add any value what so ever. Idk why they exist, it just broke the momentum and it was annoying.

Like 1-2 intermission and ss chapters between each book is ok. There was too. Much of unnecessary boring stuff shoved in there for no reason. <<less

Update: 2

Been following this web novel since its debut, took a few years of my life reading it since its being translated. Now the novel had reach its conclusion and the translation is nearing its end I must say I am impressed how many times I've read this novel, its manga and the anime for 12th time now in span of few years I highly recommend to read the LN as well although shorter.

I'm quite picky when it comes to Isekai stories but this one just quite get the satisfaction... more>> you'll need as I am keep coming back to it every few months, the story is cute, heart warming specially for Pochi and Tama, the story does skip some parts but the author delve into it more on the Light Novel.

nothing it compares how invested I am on character development and the world building, you'll know the author is quite the enthusiast on about other Literatures such you will find some References with familiarity, although It has quite the fair share of struggles, it follows the trend where the MC is flagged with troublesome events. The MC MC is OP yes but not to the point of you'll choke. I might read this again in a few years well see if the light novels is plentifully translated by then. (The English Translated LN is Currently sitting at Volume 15 at the time of writing). <<less

Death March may not be the pinnacle of writing. It is also not the bottom tier at all. Death March lands solidly in the middle of B tier novels. There is nothing wrong with that, not every novel has to be an absolute masterpiece or a must read. Without mediocrity there is no greatness.

Death March is the type of novel you should read a few chapters of when you have time, not something that you should binge read hundreds of chapters in a day. It is the cherry on top... more>> of the sundae of the better novels you are reading. It is the extra little bit that makes everything so much better. And it does that perfectly.

Would be four stars if not for the excellent translator who has been translating almost concurrently with the raws for as long as I have been reading it. <<less
