This is a pretty decent cultivation story (so far). The story has been progressing at a good pace, not too fast not too slow. There are some minor twists here and there that have caught me off guard.

That being said, the translated chapters are terribly edited. Not deducting any points since is not the novels fault (i think). There is zero consistency in terminology. Anything that has a name: character, skill, place, etc. Will be spelled differently on the next chapter (or the next paragraph), and then differently again on... more>> the chapter after that, it feels like 20 different people are translating it and they are not talking to each other. Also most characters are addressed by their surname, and too many characters share a surname. It has been frustrating to read.

Edit: caught up to chapter 327 only to find out it hasn't been updated in over a month, wish I had looked into that before starting.

Edit: Picked it up again after a long break, unfortunately all the names have changed once more, which is especially frustrating since I had not read it in months, now all the clans seem to have different names. At least the new translating team seems to be releasing 1 chapter a day. The translation quality is not the best, but I will give it some time. <<less

It was really good at the beginning, but the romance is too dry, u could literally feel the dryness sometimes. And the author's works always end in separation between MC and his lovers as much I read so far. It became too bland sometimes. It didn't live up to the beginning expectations.

Nothing great but still perfectly decent readable story, was happy to start it, till it was dropped/choked to death for a looooooong time, then seems to have been picked up by the current translator (s) which unfortunately is on an annoying intrusive and irritating website so not even going to try as that website alone put me off immediately on pc and mobile.

If the new translations were hosted on something that didnt spam my phone/pc with popups and other annoyances id probably be back on this again, pity ive forgotten... more>> wth actually happened and re-reading it from the start isnt going to happen any time soon, maybe if the chapter count explodes and it doesnt get dropped I will take another look, but after so much time of it being dead I would rather just wait and see. <<less

2: The story is mostly told from a narrative perspective, "this happened and then this happens", instead of a first-person perspective, which would make it easier to connect with the protagonist and actually experience his story. I constantly find myself zoning out because too many irrelevant things are being described in excessive detail.

One of my fav novels. Why? The MC isnt overpowered, serious and smart. He is no hero and neither a devil. I would describe him as neutral good so far. Sadly I had to drop this, because of the slow release rate I hate gravitytales those sell Outs for takeing on such a beuatiful novel. Now this is a novel where " the MC is just your typical regular martial artist" can really be used. The MC isn't some heavenly lucky genius and destiny rich guy whom everythings he seems to do is the rught thing.. No this MC isn't like that and the story is more focus on the martial world rather than making the MC always right, intelligent, and heaven defying.

It's certainly a good cultivation Web Novel. In those kind of stories, it's important that the character's personality are well developped. Which is the case of the MC and the majority of the characters.

I often think that cultivation novels are repetitive and boring, but thanks to the detailed characters, the story which is quite well made and the translator's excellent work... I've been reading it to the chapter 127 so far, and I'm still willing to continue despite the fact I don't like cultivation's stories.

At first I thought I would hate this novel, due to the stories stretching and chapter been long, I generally hate long stretching story archs, However, this novel demon diary actually manages to keep my interest even though it long. This story has dark magic, necromancy, main character has bubble or something in head that helps him shorten training, significantly similar to martial world and Undefeated God of War. Great novel highly recommend it.

This is another great story from the author of RMJI. Again, we have an intelligent, mature MC who interacts with other intelligent characters and antagonists, in an action packed adventure. Nothing feels forced or designed to provide plot armor, but the story still stays creative and maintains its surprises and the sense of wonder we expect from good fantasy. The world building is excellent as well, without dragging on. It's sad to see such gems outranked by gimmick stories with dumb MCs.

A nice enough story. The time skips, and somewhat awkward romance is not great, but it's not too much of a hindrance to the fairly entertaining story with lots of fights and significant plot armor.

Most of the plots are resolved by the end, so overall the story is a satisfying arc.

This story is great depending on what you’re looking for. If you want a protagonist that finds constant trouble, likes showing off constantly, and is constantly risking their life then this story is not for you. If you like low key protagonists that are ruthless, cautious, and have above average intelligence for a cultivation novel then you’ll love this.

The main negative of this story is that periodically the protagonist is to low key and almost seems like a side character.

Everything about this light novel is a bit above average. The setting is described well with enough intrigue into the main character to keep you going, the action scenes are well done, and the main character is competent and level headed, and it gets around the cliches of it's genre pretty well. Like does the main character really have to hide his identity any time he does literally anything. Also the main character doesn't really have any passion, events kind of just happen to him and he's forced to become stronger because of it, there's no agency in his actions. Those are the my main two problems with it and it's still better than like 90% of the garbage out there so I'd still recommend it, but you can definitely skip some chapters if it drones on. <<less

There's a lot of ways of measurement, kilometres, miles, feets, Li, Zhangs, acres, minutes, breathes, flashes, cup of tea, meals.

Also a lot of unnecessary surprisingly and astoundingly.

After chapter 301 translation is edited MTL apparently. So be mentally prepared. If you can't read MTL you better just forget about this novel altogether, because curent translation's terms, names changes almost every chapter. <<less

Definitely not a total kickass MC type of novel, but the MC is OP: He just doesn't show off very often. The biggest flaws in the novel is the lackluster romance and the absence of any continuing side characters. There are no characters that can be related to for large portions of the novel as most side characters have their story and personality built up only for them to become insignificant or die. I would love for a constant (intelligent) companion so we have building character interaction between the MC... more>> and someone with a personality. But overall, I like the novel because its a pleasant break from the mass of Harem/badass MC novels that are being translated. This is a GEM! The translators really should give it more attention. I love everyhing except for a few chapters where it seemed the author love to focus too much on unnecessary plot for additional characters whom eventually end up dead even before meeting the MC but whatever... its for the world plot building anyway. Very nice! I really like it! The MC is smart and humble. Great plot and it's also quite interesting! Just one thing that really irks me is the lack of descriptions of the characters. Be they be the MC or the side characters. I mean when a new character is introduced the only description given is only: A beautiful woman, cute girl, handsome guy, ugly woman, the woman in imperial clothes, the girl in cyan clothing, middle aged man etc.

Story - The pacing of the story can be deemed slow in my opinion when compared to other light novels but it still managed to be a quite entertaining light novel despite the slowness.

It's indeed a revenge/adventure type of story but the protagnist doesn't head straight to that path and chooses to train instead.

The enemies don't just randomly pop outta nowhere and cause trouble to the protagnist without reason.

This webnovel has very good story, but a little bit slow in pacing, as mentioned by others. The MC is also one of the better ones in the xianxia/xuanhuan genre.
