In a Mary-Sue novel, the readers all liked the Devil Venerable, the second male lead who devoted himself whole-heartedly to the female lead. However the female lead only loved the male lead who ab*sed her physically and mentally.

Readers: Why doesn’t the female lead like the Devil Venerable?!

Devil Venerable: This Venerable also wants to know. But what I really want to know is why I even like the female lead at all.

In order to understand why the female lead wasn’t attracted to him, the self-conscious Devil Venerable brutally interrogated the entire cast of characters from the novel.

OMG, WTF?!! How come I hadn't written a review?!!!! I'm totally flabbergasted rn. From the time I've read this novel, it has always been in my top favourite ones and I always thought that I must have left a review but now I'm finding out that I hadn't left a review on one of the best cultivation novels ever and I'm just devastated.

The only explanation for this is, I must have read this before I made a NU account. Therefore, I didn't review. Cause brooooooo, when I say I love... more>> love love this novel! When I was reading it, I hadn't known wat a true gem I had found out.

This novel is just so amazing with such smart characters and such an interesting plot, it's really rare finding these kinda novels which r new and not same old stuff.

It's a pity I can't write wat I had felt when I reached the ending but the only thing that remains in mind is that this was a spectacular danmei and I would like to recommend this to everyone to read! You won't regret reading this gem, so do give it a try!

My favorite novel I've read this year! The story is so much fun, and I absolutely love the characters. They are hilarious. The main couple, Wenren È and Yin Hanjiang is so sweet, they’re my new OTP. They care about each other so much from the beginning, even if they’re clueless, and their love for each other just grows deeper and deeper throughout the story. The side characters are all great too. Baili Qingmiao, the original protagonist grows so much as a person, it’s really impressive. Dropped, I can't read anymore.

2 Stars only because the beginning was very good. Has a premise I've never seen before. The best parts are when they try and alter fate.

  • The worst part of the novel is the relationship between venerable and the sect leader. He takes him in when he is 8, leaves him alone for 10 years, then the sect leader starts having some sort of stockholm syndrome. He becomes infatuated with what seems like a father instead of a lover and becomes mentally ill because of this. Seem like the sect leader hypnotised himself into a g*ooming situation. I probably just find the tag Master-Servant Relationship disgusting
  • This might resolve later in the novel but it felt like everyone was just following a script the whole time. The primordial gods reincarnation was apparently from when I read, getting brainwashed by the person who was unaffected by mortal affairs. The venerable doing everything he can without knowing to fall in love with the sect leader. The moments felt contrived. It was like the author got very sidetracked
  • The venerable gives Bai her divinity when he thinks she's stable. Even though he doesn't know if she will just die again (has not tried to see if she will just get mind controlled again)
  • Just character assassinating Shu a bit before I stopped. She is was smart, but she tries to get the two strongest cultivators (one that has no match on earth even before he got a power buff) to seclude and take over the sect. You would have to be a bit challenged to not see why and how she does it could lead to some serious problems

this novel isn’t what I expected when I picked it up. I thought there’s gonna be tons of internal schemes and struggles within, but it turned out the plot of books are so bad that they transmigrated to MC to be revised. MC’s way of thought is unique, and ML’s obsession is what obsession should be like (in my opionion.) Though I think the romance development between ML and MC is a bit dry, I can see why ML cherished MC so much. 4.6/5⭐️

As for the supporting role, all hail... more>> to Shu Yanyan my fav girl and Zhongli Qian my almost-bald boy. Both of them are amazing. <<less

An epic Novel. Recommend. Recommend. Recommend. Good things should be said thrice. Through out reading couldn't stop laughing!! It had comedic remarks and dialogue but most interesting plot. One of the most favorite novel ! (⁠๑⁠♡⁠⌓⁠♡⁠๑⁠) There was so much fun reading it. It has serious character development which was actually visible. MC was quite rational. Lead the whole story. Most interesting MC of all. ML was the one who had the most serious character development! Loved them both. Definitely recommend! I had many good laughs while reading, the characters are loveable and even side characters are well-written and have their own development which doesn't happen too often. The romantical part is beautiful but mostly forms/has formed behind the scenes so it might seem like a bit too out-of-nowhere thing. But I won't complain, it worked out well.

The plot isn't too heavy, just a lot of specific terminology and names to remember. Translation is also good.

Full characters despite the kind of short length of the novel, who go through good character development and don’t leave room for misunderstandings. Author gets philosophical about the nature of the universe in a way that is understandable, really enriches the reading experience. Side characters are a hoot, with personalities of their own that don’t revolve around the leads. The romance is low-key profound.

I haven't read a novel this well done in a long time. Read it in one sitting. It was genuinely one of the best books I've read - the pacing, character development, the style and type of relationships and their individual developments??

Impeccable.

This novel is gorgeously written. It's detailed and fully fleshed out and really made me feel for the characters. It has subtle undertones that weave through out the whole novel - no plot holes! No filler! All amazing!!

v lovely!!! I love how both characters were written 😭❣️❣️❣️ I felt for the both of them so much. I like wre a bit more but yhj going insane was rlly cute too.....

plot was v good! I just felt that end was a bit lacking? bc the scale of the story was rlly big but it suddenly vanished? kinda like that, but it's not anyth negative I was just surprised it conflict ends there hahah

plot 10/10 actually bit ploth-eavy but main characters are always involved.

romance 10/10 their devotion was too pure TT I love how you see them slowly fall in love with each other.

characters 15/10 for gong, 10/10 for shou! gong history was painful and I love how noble he was even as a demonic cultivator

  • MC = devil vulnerable = very daring, ruthless, kind, cunning, charismatic
  • MC is honestly so smart and he goes through a lot before he becomes who he is today. His backstory is really heartbreaking. He was the one who picked up the ML and gave him everything he wanted? Like yknow u have a rich dad but the dad dk how to show u love so he jus throw you all the money hopin you be livin a better life then him when he was young that is the relationship between the ML & MC before they interacted a lot more at the later part of the story
  • ML = Yin = loyal to D. Vulnerable, ruthless, kind of like a maniac?, strong, persistent
  • ML goes through a lot too his family all gets k*lled and he is thenonly surviving one which the MC picked him up = then started worshippin MC as his saviour & his obsession is a bit concerning but they solve it @ the later part of the story
  • ALSO YALL this is NOT A TRANSMIGRATION NOVEL
  • Basically the og book fall into hands of devil vulnerable and he reads tht bs novel and be like lemme change the DesTiny~ cos like the og one fr so tr*sh anyways so yes he did change WOHOOO VULNERABLE EPICCCC YOWWW

This story's world-building is one of the best I've ever read in a webnovel. The characters' development are also good except of course the OriML's because he's a consistent tr*sh throughout the whole story. Those subtle relationship development between the MC and the ML is heartwarming. I liked the fact that those two went through a healing process and the author showed that to us. I feel like a proud mom watching them all grow 🤧

THIS IS GEM! I thought I was reading comedy but the Plot!! Oh the plot! It's simply a marvel.

The characters were fleshed out. They lived and they grow and the story ends with a wholesome tone.

I love love the MC. He's so... Benevolent? I guess, but it also doesn't feel like this character was forced to be the devil for the sake of the story. It just made him seem very sober.

And how the story progressed! It's a wonderful story telling. Everything started from how Renhe first got the book... more>> and end with how the book got into Renhe's hand. Everything comes full circle.

Finally, the translation was superb. There were some grammatical error here and there but overall smoothly read. A massive shout out for the translator for bringing up the novel. <<less

This book, for its seemingly simple summary, is actually a little complex to explain.

One day, Wenren È, the Devil Venerable, receives a novel quite suddenly out of nowhere, describing the events of their world told through the POV of a young cultivator Baili Qingmiao— Abusive Romance: You Are The Unchanging One In My Heart.

BQM is a typical xianxia novel protagonist in this story, with a love interest whom she loves very much, even if he isn't quite as faithful to her in return. Along with that, she has a bunch... more>> of other love interests – one of whom is Wenren È – who are very sincere to her, but never have their affections returned.

Wenren È is baffled by the illogical romantic plot of the book and sets out to see how much of their world is truly happening as is written and whether or not he can change this "fate". And thus begins his quest in changing this "Abusive Romance" of the MC into a "No Romance" situation, because honestly? That girl can do better.

A really wonderful part of the story is how he continuously acknowledges that the book and their world are both very real, but can also be contradictory because the book is from a single person's POV. The world, on the other hand, is a very complex one with multiple people acting out their own lives which may or may not affect BQM.

Honestly, come for the comedic start, stay for the philosophy and character growth. Every character is just so beautifully fleshed out, everything logically explained and sorted out. You will end up liking almost every single character, even the villains, just for the way they've been written.

I wouldn't really call this a romance danmei novel, but a novel that explores romance and love and relationships in general – what they are, how they happen to be, how can they be sustained, do you even need them? It has a very complex cultivation system as well, but it's very simplistic in its writing. Completely worth reading!

This novel is just marvelous in its execution, and the translator has also done a wonderful job!

Absolutely worth all the high ratings, I have no idea why I waited so long to read this.

  • The translation work by mourningcrow is some of the best I've ever read.
  • The plot is fun and moves quickly, doesn't take itself too seriously, and has some good surprises along the way.
  • Wenren E is SO funny without meaning to be, I was hooked in the first chapter where he's reading the description of Baili Qingmiao falling in love and he goes, "Mhm, I understand. She was obviously struck by lightning, that's the only reasonable explanation for these symptoms".
  • The development of Yin Hanjiang over the course of the novel was so, so good. Delicious.
  • If there was an entire novel that was just about Qiu Congxue, I would read it in a heartbeat.

Hilarious, refreshing take on 'revising' a 'story'. No transmigration, just the in-book characters going about figuring things out as they go. Love how it's written and the overall plot, the story is packed full of content and I never felt like there's fillers. The romance is quite subtle - towards the ending of the story is where it comes into play. But regardless, the humorous parts of the story is very fun to read. I had a good laugh and enjoyed every inch of this novel!

The only thing I can... more>> think of is wanting more... maybe more extras? I enjoy the story alot, but I'm still a bit confused about why the protagonist would be so head-over-heels compelled to be in-love with the s*um boy still. Anyways, it was a good read! Take your time though, it's a lot to digest <<less

Ahaha.

The story mainly revolves MC finding out the truth behind the s*upid actions of novel characters. Eventually, there is more to it. Another of his goal is to wake up the brain dead FL. Eventually, his goal diverts to ML. MC and ML interactions are so sweet and u'll be fed with lots off dog food

This one is well written and funny but somewhat predictable so will probably drop. However, it won't change the fact that this is good so my rating is 4.3, rounded it up to 5

The stars in the sky remind me of them.

WRE is rational, he’s also calculative and uses what he can to his advantage. But he’s also a bit naive (regards to YHJ’s feelings), but considerate when he finds out xoxo. YHJ has a straight-forward goal, like a loyal guard dog but he’s also disobedient at times (rabid stoic-faced king).

I liked their relationship a lot because it’s healthy. At the end of the novel they understand one another, on equal grounds, not master/servant power dynamics but a leveled surface.

The world building in... more>> itself and the story is genuinely interesting.

The side characters are also likable. Even though BLQM is naive to the point where I definitely felt my carotid artery pulsing, she does no wrong in my eyes because she defended QCX (I wish they got together but one can hope). QCX is such a one path one minded person, violence is her number one solution and she’ll use it if she has a chance (refreshing character). <<less

This novel is a masterpiece. It’s slow burn with the relationship being so incredibly equal; it’s obvious they both love each other deeply and there’s no obnoxious wife chasing or anything like that. Everything is safe, sane, consensual and just beautiful. Both of the main characters are very well fleshed out with interesting backstories and motivations behind their behavior.

Not to mention, the cast of side characters is to die for. All of them serve a purpose and add a different sort of charm to the story. Plus, this is one... more>> of the most in-depth descriptions of cultivation I have ever seen in a novel.

I just finished reading this and oh my lord, heavens above, picking this up was one of the best decisions I made. The side characters were so full of personality, so lively and lovable. The dynamics between not just our couple, but other characters as well was entertaining and so funny, you just find them in your heart. There are so many reviews, I don't have much else to say except how much I loved this. Read this, you won't regret it <3
